AOC AGON AG241QG vs Dell S2417DG

I have just recently purchased a new PC as I have a 5 year old system currently running a i7 3960x and a GTX 770. So I have a system with an i7 9700k and 6GB RTX 2060 on it's way. I am now at the point of choosing a new display, I would like the display to have the following details:

- 24inch
- 2560 x 1440 resolution 
- 120hz - 165hz refresh rate
- 4ms or less response time
- 1x Display Port
- G sync

- £400 (GBP) max price

 

I have whittled it down to AOC AGON AG241QG and Dell S2417DG based on personal research. I know these both have the same panel, but out of the two is there any obvious preference? I have seen the AOC has a harsher anti glare coating than the dell that would SLIGHTLY impair the screens quality.  Also is there any other recommendations at a £400 price mark? Thanks.

Please do not get the AOC,, its a POS company with POS monitors,,, trust me I know!

Ok thanks, so in your opinion the Dell would be your preference? Personally I prefer the styling of the dell so was leaning towards that in terms of asthetics, thought I'd check on here I'm not missing something in terms of picture quality before I purchase one.

Yes man thx goodness I caught you in time.  AOC is a no no, I can't let you buy that.  Get the Dell, you will get a much much better image quality, pix and videos will look gorgeous.

So I bought the AOC and had to return it. The anti glare is absolutely the worst thing I've seen on any monitor I've ever owned. You can barely read text and on white backgrounds it looks like someone has covered the screen with rice paper.

 

Coincidentally, I returned it and bought the exact Dell you mentioned but the 27 inch one. Honestly, the Dell is absolutely incredible and is no contest at all.

I own the 27" version of that Dell monitor and I'm pretty pleased with it.  Mine gets 92%+ of sRGB which is pretty damn good for a TN, it didn't hurt too bad moving from a 10-bit AHVA panel.  Only downside is I'm not sure if it's a true 8-bit panel or 6+2, the gamma curve isn't the best at the lowest black levels, even calibrated.  Banding at low black levels is exaggerated, especially with compressed content, you will notice every flaw.  But in gaming where the content isn't compressed and in video with high bitrate (4k YouTube) the effect diminishes.

Also has two overdrive modes which is nice, normal where there almost no noticeable ghosting, or fast, where there is a bit of noticeable ghosting but reduced blur if you're pushing it to the max for eSports.

EDIT: I also like how it looks like every other Dell workstation monitor and not some gaudy gaming contraption.  10/10 for looks and build quality.
