Connecting Fans to psu?

mufataza

I've got an Optiplex 790sff and recently I've changed cases, added a new PSU, and have been trying to add another fan. Is it possible to add a fan by connecting it directly to the PSU instead of CPU? What kind of adapter would I need?

Unless you're using fans with proprietary fan headers like those from Dell, a standard fan header is all you need. There are sata and molex fan adapters.

There are also fan adapters that adapt to Dell's proprietary fan header but they're usually not worth the money imo.
