Help choosing silent 140mm fans for DC mode.

B0n0

Hello, I would need two 140mm fans for the top of the case (Mastercase maker 5T).

I can connect both to the hub included with the case to work on dc mode (two positions) but I'm not sure which voltaje will have the "slow" mode position.

I have heard good opinions about the Venturi HF14.

Should I buy two HF14 and connect in dc mode or should I go with two PWM fans and connect both to the motherboard with cable splitter?

I would like to have silent.

Thanks in advance,

Regards.

I think PWM connected to the motherboard is the best way to go.

You will also be able to set a curve (can also be done in DC mode on the motherboard)

Noctua Redux 900RPM 140mm fans. I forget the exact model number, but I ran a pair for a long time at a steady 50%, had plenty of airflow through the case and never heard a thing.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

The case fan controller positions are for 7v and 12v. There should be a led display for L (low) and H (high).

Where are you shopping / located? Budget?

What are your specs? Are the stock case fans too noisy?

Hello, I'm from Spain so...something like amazon.es

Budget...well...I saw fans like 20€ (Venturi) or 25€ (Noctua) or the Noctua redux that aisle9 recommends 20€.

I think yes, case fans at 7v are noisy, not sure which are them but basic cooler master 140mm.

They're good fans but the Redux NF-P14S is a bit cheaper here: https://es.pcpartpicker.com/product/xs6BD3/noctua-case-fan-nfp14sredux1200pwm

What motherboard do you have? Running the fans with a fan curve would probably be better if possible.

Yes sorry, I was wrong, here the NF-P14S 3 pin, 4 pin 1200rpm and 4 pin 1500rpm costs 16€.

I have Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard, would need a splitter to connect those fans to the mobo but I was looking for fans to exhaust air from the case, and if exists, some silent 3pin fans...if not...I will have to go with pwm fans.

Thank you!

You can use either 3pin or 4pin fans with dc control as long as the plastic housing isn't prevent the fan from being plugged in.

The 1200rpm NF-P14S is very quiet but the 900rpm variant will be quieter if you're limited to using the case fan controller which only goes down to 7v.

If you want very low noise, using a splitter off of your motherboard for pwm would allow for lower rpm -- down to ~350rpm as opposed to ~550rpm with the 900rpm model of the NF-P14S off of the case fan controller.

And...those noctua fans are OK for exhaust or are better for radiator? Thanks for your support!

They're great for either.

Noctua redux 900rpm should be at 900rpm at 12v? So more or less 500rpm at 7v?

Yep.

That should be barely audible. But maybe I should go with the pwm 1200rpm (at 7v is like 700rpm) and if it is too noisy, change it to pwm. Sad part is that those noctua does not include splitter.

And for the rgb part (more fps xD) what do you think about put 2 corsair ML140 pro as intake and one as exhaust?

Thanks sir!

If you're aiming for silence, I'd suggest sticking with Noctuas.
