Weird motherboard restarting behaviour

I have a Gigabyte Z87X SLI that is behaving oddly on restart: if I press to restart, the motherboard shuts down completely for a few seconds, then turns on again, activates the video card but no signal (monitor comes on but is black screen), then shuts down completely again for a few seconds, then turns on again and boots normally. Normally motherboards I've had restart seamlessly without powering down, first time, without having to have 2-3 goes at it.

 

All other components have been tested elsewhere and a fully working. No overclocking is applied. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be here?

Gigabyte boards go all the way off when you restart or reset them IIRC. And then its just a normal doubble post which a lot of board do

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Really? I don't recall seeing other boards do this 'double post' - and I have one or two Gigabyte boards.

It's normal, and only some boards do this

try updating bios and turn off fast boot
