Summary On April 8th, 2024 at 4PM PDT the Online play servers for the Wii U and 3DS will shut down permanently. This means that online functionality such as Online play, SpotPass, and internet rankings will all cease to function. Features like the internet browser will still work. Quotes My thoughts We all knew it'd happen someday, but it's still sad to see these go. The Wii U was the first game console I received as a gift, and I have years of memories playing with my brothers on the Wii U. What really sucks is how this is going to break the core functionality of a ton of games (with a primary focus on Super Mario Maker) that rely on Online functionality. These games will nearly entirely cease to work without outside community servers like Pretendo. I guess the cheering should go to Microsoft for continuing to support the Xbox 360 (even if the store support is ending this summer) for so dang long. Once it starts outlasting consoles from the generation after, I'd call that some dedication from Microsoft. I'm gonna have some friends over and I thought that instead of watching movies like we usually do, I thought playing some video games might be fun to try. However, no one (including me) is a gamer. This is the hardware I have: PC (RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM). Mac (M1 Max, 32 GB RAM). 1440p 165 hz monitor. 4K OLED TV 60 hz. Three DUALSHOCK 4 PS4 Bluetooth controllers (unfortunately no PS4 at the moment though, long story...). I would prefer if there was a game that supported local multiplayer by using the two/three DUALSHOCK 4 Bluetooth controllers at the same time to the same device. But maybe those single device multiplayer games are mostly for console? We're open for any suggestions in terms of genre. I apologize in advance for my lack of gaming knowledge.

I've been wanting to run my own modded server for a while now but the hosting options out there are not the best. Always lag and rubber banding. just don't want to pay massive amounts of money to get a "stable" server. So I've been looking into doing it myself, I was able to successfully run a vanilla Minecraft server on my own desktop and it runs fine. I know mods drastically increase ram usage just for my self let alone a whole server on a single desktop. I've seen some people make their vanilla servers on raspberry pi and this seemed to work just fine, but what about modded. I just can't find a lot of information about it sadly.

1 - Here is the conundrum. The entire PC freezes in multiplayer so you have to reset it and thus there is no proper log made of what went wrong. So sadly no crash dumps to share i have talked with some others about that and they are stumped on what to do. The PC works just fine in singleplayer The owner mainly plays things like Kitaria fables, Stardew Valley, Don't starve. But also has gotten into some Valheim and Raft recently. Now the big issue here is that Valheim and Raft seems to work just fine in single player longest played time is about two hours before getting bored. But the moment we try to play multiplayer the game lasts maybe 20 minutes. Now we did upgrade to an SSD instead and that pushed some gameplay moments up to above the one hour mark. I also want to point out that these crashes are not very predictable they vary from 10 minutes up to around 1 hour. More games are planned for testing later on. But previous plays on Stardew Valley and Don't starve showed no issues in multiplayer. ________________________________ 2 - Okay so sadly it is not my PC so i have limited access to what i can do. One big reason is that we live far apart I am in Sweden they are in the US. Info i have so far on it. No over clocking of any kind user is not knowledgable enough to know about or do such things!!!! it is a CyberpowerPC prebuilt from around 2017-18 or so using Windows 10, 64 1 terabyte SSD (switched this recently trying to see if that fixed it) Motherboard: Gigabyte Sniper Z170 GPU: MSI Nvidia 1060 3Gb Gigabyte 16Gb Ram CPU: Intel i7 7700 4.2Ghz PCU: (my guess is a 600W unit of some type) _________________________________ 3 - Here is what we have done so far to check the issue! Running a driver booster scan and update on available hardware's. Graphics card update trough Nvidia Gforce experience. Checked the HDD health then switched the HDD to an SSD just in case. Reinstalled the games Tried to find crash dumps but sadly due to the freeze the computer was unable to log them. Monitored computer performance during gameplay. CPU - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters GPU - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters RAM - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters HHD - Load peaking and slowing down the PC from time to time but solved trough replacement. SSD - seems fine as well. I am completely out of ideas at this point. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem??

Hey guys, So I have a friend over at my house. We have 2 mouses, 2 keyboards, 2 screens, but we only have one computer. Is there a way for us to play both on the computer both with our own peripherals? So the screen would basically split, only difference being that it's one computer doing all the work. I hope I worded the question in an understandable way xD. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am looking for people to play Stellaris multiplayer with on the weekends within a few timezones of me (UTC+1) or any day in the next week as I have the time off, as I would rather find people on the forum to play with than just jump in a game with randos. I have the following expansions: Utopia, Apocalypse, Horizon Signal, Synthetic Dawn, Leviathans, Humanoids, Plantoids, Megacorp, Ancient Relics and Federations (though I haven't actually played with the last three yet). Is there anyone here that would be interested?

After updating to the patch 4.50, my ps4 won't let me find any lobbies for multiplayer games like Uncharted 4, Battlefield 1 and 4 and gta 5. I have tried rebooting my router but that doesn't help at all.

I just wanted to create this thread to toss around ideas on how Bethesda COULD implement 2 player co-op into some of their open world sandbox games. I really wanted a functioning Fallout 4 COOP mod to show up but it looks like that won't be happening due to the technical limitations of it. I noticed a lot of people arguing about how it could be implemented, if it even should be. This is my idea: First of all, it should be voluntary of course. It should be like Minecraft where one person hosts and the other people can only play when the host is online. I feel like that would be MUCH easier to maintain than to deal with dedicated servers. Of course a dedicated server would be much cooler but it's way too hard to maintain and seems really unnecessary. And of course the other person is able to DC whenever they want without interrupting the host's gaming. Now for the major things that people are afraid of: Story and conversation: Fallout can be heavily dialogue based and it's unrealistic to think Bethesda should change the dialogue lines to include both players, that'd be insanely time consuming and Bethesda already doesn't put enough time into polishing and bug checking, last thing we need is them having to polish this system. What they should do instead is continue to make it based around the host player. The host does all the talking and conversations. When you enter conversation the camera switches between the people talking when they're talking, right? Well if the second player is nearby there should be an option called "listen in" or something like that, where they see the same thing the host sees in conversation, all the people talking and the line picking options where the host decides the next line said. This way the host and the other player can discuss the correct option, but of course the host should make the decision. Charisma challenges should be based on the host entirely as well. Keep in mind, watching the conversation should be a toggle thing. If the second player would rather explore elsewhere than they should be able to. Companions and PVP: two player coop, no companions. The second player is essentially your companion, so you can't have Piper while your friend is playing with you. There are no special companion perks when you have a second player because it's already a perk to have a well equipped and competent player rather than a really crappy AI. PVP between players will also be an optional and consensual thing, akin to how it was done in Borderlands and it wouldn't completely kill the other player, but the losing player would have to heal themselves' back up while the winner gets their health reset to the way their health was before the 1v1 (that way you can't just do 1v1s to boost the other person's health and the loser does face a consequence) Items: Items and shopping should be the same for either character. When one player picks up an item it should still be there on the other player's screen. If there's a roll of duct tape in the corner and the host picks it up, it should still be on the other player's screen. This way there will be plenty of items for both players so Bethesda doesn't have to worry about increasing the amount of items. This will be different with pick up items and props though. Props like chairs and stuff like that will be the same for both screens, that way if one player hits the chair it moves for the other player. That's different from items though, so if one player moves or picks up an item it doesn't move for the other player. This should go for power suits and weapons as well. When one player is in the powersuit, the other player should be able to see it. But once that player gets out it should disappear for the other. It's gonna look janky and unimmersive but this seems like the best option. Players can't share items so there will never be an overabundance so that difficulty will remain the same. They have different items even if they're at the same workshop or crate. Shops will be the same. If one player buys a weapon from a dealer then that weapon should still be available to the other player. Game difficulty: With two players the game difficulty most certainly needs to be increased to compensate. I would say add twice the enemies and double their health. Bosses get health doubled (but of course there won't be two of the same boss that would be stupid) and there will be twice the amount of super mutants or ogres than before with double the health. If a player DCs while the host is in a gunfight, drop the difficulty so less enemies spawn and newly spawned enemies have less health so as soon as the host clears out the enemies that spawned in while it was still a two player game, it'll be as if it were a single player game the entire time. Bethesda has a bad habit of giving us low framerates when a lot of enemies are on screen though, so a solution to that would be to make the corpses of bodies killed by one player invisible to the other. It'll be last hit based by the way. If one player did 99 damage to an enemy and the other player got the last hit then tough luck! Kill got stolen. That's why you don't play with asshole friends am i right? This way there doesn't get to be an overabundance of items and the game doesn't have to render so many bodies. This would be different for bosses, however, where both the players would still see the boss's corpse and can loot from it. Of course for Bethesda to be able to handle this some compromises need to be made. Maybe less render distance in two player mode and lowered quality. You'll get the best looking and best performing game on solo play but sacrifices must be made in coop. Tough luck kiddo! Finally, the workshop: If Bethesda continues to keep the workshop function introduced in Fallout for and the one in Skyrim, there needs to be a coop plan for it. I think it makes a lot more sense to keep in the workshop function if they do include a coop function. What's the point in building a bad ass settlement or lake house if you can't show it off? I would in Fallout, both players should be able to make a settlement. They both get to build in the same settlement and everything, they can delete each other's items and everything. It should be just like Minecraft in that sense. They should have separate workshops though since they can't share items. If one player has 84 concrete the other player has to get their own concrete. If the second player delete's the host's items (or vice versa) items go back to the original builder, not the person who destroyed it. For a new Elder Scrolls game if they keep the same house building system like they did in Skyrim, I think both players get their own house and can't change the other's. Homes in the Elder Scrolls games should be entirely personal and unaffected by another player. And that's my idea for how Bethesda should implement coop! I know it's much easier said than done but I just wanted to give my perspective as a gamer and NOT a game designer. If there's something I didn't touch on or if you have a better idea or just want to comment on my idea please do so! I want this to be a discussion after all. Also no arguing or insulting. If you have a better idea that someone else in this thread or than me please share it respectfully, I don't want this to be an argument, just a friendly discussion between gamers.

*I know people don't like COD but don't post hate please* So I have played every COD since MW3 and have loved all of them except Ghosts. But I have played all of them on Xbox, but I don't have an Xbox because university. Now saying that should I get IW on PC? I play BF1 and a lot of other games on PC but it's just COD that I feel I should stick to console for. But I am currently in the UK for university but I go home to the US for the summer and I read on GMG that the game is only playable in the region it is purchased. So I don't want to be screwed when I can't play on my PC when I go home for the summer. So is that really true? And in the UK GMG.com is all British pricing but on my PC Steam is still in US pricing so does that matter, idk. I also want to know peoples opinion about the game, like what did you like/dislike about it, how is the movement? Setting? Multiplayer? Zombies? Not just blind hate. And right now the reviews on Steam are 55% positive and being one of the rare few that actually enjoyed No Man's Sky I feel pretty confident I'll like it despite negative reviews. I already have BF1 and am planning to buy Titanfall 2 just to round out all my lovely FPS games so don't call me a fanboy because I'm not, I just enjoy COD games. Sorry if this is all over the place. Thanks for any help!

In the past I've used Hamachi to be able to run my own private Minecraft server for friends but decided to try my hand at port forwarding again (I had tried with previous versions with no luck, so went back to Hamachi) and this time I was determined to make it work. I followed a couple of up to date videos and instruction from portforward.com as well as the instructions given by my internet provider on my router's management pages. Everything was going well until I got a friend to test their connection for me. The static IP address that I made, starting 192 was working just fine for me, however it wasn't working for my friend. Even if I added Minecraft's usual port 25565 to the end of the IP address, it still worked for me but not them. My provider made the port forwarding seem very simple, even though I had to add Minecraft via advance options, simply using its name and port ranges, which I just left at 25565 for all the inputs. The video I watched that explained how to port forward and the importance of a static IP and the handy portforward.com said the external IP is what I send to friends, although in his video, his info was covered for obvious reasons and I only learned while doing this process that the IP address (192) was different to the external IP! So I changed the server address in the multiplayer window to the 51 IP instead of the 192 IP and it just wouldn't connect even for me, said it had an abstract channel, whatever that means? I even left my server address as the 192 IP and gave my friend the 51 IP, thinking that it could be as simple as that, but still nothing. White list is on false, so there should be no issue from there, I didn't run the server properties with any additional info apart from typing in the port, which is default anyway.. so I'm truly stumped. Any suggestions please?

As BeamNG Drive is further expanding, I was wandering if somebody could make a mod to enable dual controller support? Not necessarily 'multiplayer', but 2 controllers being used on one PC. Reason being is that if you are directing crashes, you have to control one car, and get the AI to control the other, as we know how good AI is, I think you understand my point... So, if there was dual controller support, (and possibly 2 cameras used like a split-screen) I believe that would be fantastic, especially for all the other BeamNG YouTuber's out there. Personally I'd love to see more split-screen games, because it's great when you have friends that don't have PC's good enough to run these titles. I know that in the future, near or far, BeamNG is planning to add online multiplayer to this game, but I'd be great to also have a split-screen mode. So the question is: Is a split-screen mod possible?
-
has anyone dabbled in this mod before? https://github.com/TES3MP/openmw-tes3mp/ i got it to work and my friend could connect through hamachi. it would be awesome if someone could host it with something more reliable once it gets some further developed. i'd love to get into morowind, but with the multiplayer.

Hello and have a nice day everyone ! I have been wondering about 1 question these days for playing Far Cry 5 in Coop mode. The question is that is it possible to play in Coop mode when i purchase the game from Ubi-store, have the game installed on my own PC, then using the same Uplay account to log in, download and install the game on another PC (my brother computer as in my case). After that, use a different Uplay account that has not purchased the game yet to log in and play in Coop mode ? If not, are there any other ways ? I tend to do that for me and my brother to play at home. Thanks in advance !

I'm just a casual PC gamer (laptop) who has a poor internet connection. So here's the problem...I have WiFi in my home which is okay for downloads but gives a higher ping and not suitable to game on. so I usually turn on my phone's Hotspot and game on that. since i am on a limited data plan it is not possible for me to have (discord) voice chat on while gaming. is there any way for me to make my game use USB tethering from my phone and make discord use my WiFi to voice chat at the same time?

I need suggestions for games with multiplayer games that support either of: multiplayer through LAN multiplayer with own server So far, I have Minecraft under category (2), and many quite older games under (1). But I get the feeling that ever since the "game as a service" trend became stronger, games are mostly limited to multiplayer through centralized servers. Contrary to that trend, I'm looking for games that I can play on the local network, or hosting my own server as a way to keep it local. It can be any kind of games, and I would indeed appreciate variety as I intend to try games with someone who hasn't done much PC gaming, and therefore isn't sure which kind games is going to like. Thanks in advance to anyone providing suggestions!

Was interested in the game when it came out but never really got the chance to try it out. Now that its free as well i feel like giving it a shot, however I have seen a number of posts online stating there's hackers and the devs are doing nothing to stop it. What do u think about the game?

Make the games hot, not the CPU! Yeah it's back and 11 years old laptop is handling this game like a boss. I believe Raspberry Pi could run it too if there was windows xp emulator with working networking. I know times change and kids are into gaming on their phones nowadays, but sometimes I just feel they miss out on the fun I had as a child. Robot Wars inspired, pure strategy and action, use arena hazards, earn credits and upgrade the robot on your way to highscores. Or skip all that and use any weapons you want on freestyle server. Multiplayer only.
