My wifi is kinda bad, and I have to restart my router all the time. For example, my ping to 8.8.8.8 becomes higher than 300 ms sometimes. Also, it never gets higher than 70 Mbps. Help, how can I make wifi faster, even my school wifi is better. EDIT: I am not connected using Ethernet, because my router is in an awkward position.

This problem occured a few weeks ago and i haven't been able to fix it. I have tried factory resetting my PC, i have tried downloading the latest drivers and uninstalling them, i have tried using 10+ diffrent LAN cables and i have tried using another switch. All other PCs i've tried works fine even if i use the same switch and LAN cables. My internet seems to be working fine, and my network card seems to be working well too. But for some reason all platforms and browsers seem to be downloading at 5-10mbps max. Plus when i download something, my internet plummits (only on my pc). My ping skyrockets to near 80 (from 3) and i get 60 mbps download and around 2 mbps upload. Please help! most important Specs: CPU Ryzen 7 3700X GPU 3070 MOBO MSI B550 MPG GAMING EDGE WIFI ISP: Altibox (norwegian company) My router is also from Altibox, but im unaware of router specs I have a CAT5 LAN cable. It is capable of 1gbps I use Windows 10 Edit: Internet is 100% fine. My servers show 500 up and 500 down, wich is what I get from ISP. So the problem has something to do with my PC, but only when actually downloading stuff.

For starters I'm in Canada and my Dad is paying BELL a bunch of money for fast "Fibe Internet", although we are not getting even close to the speed that we should be getting. Our wifi should be more than capable of reaching 50-70Mbps yet we are barely hitting 10Mbps. In my room which is located directly above the router I'm getting 1-8Mbps. We also have weird dead spots for example, the room over from where the router is located if you sit on the couch you completely lose WiFi connection. A couple of workers from Bell have visited but they didn't do anything. The WiFi was great for about one day after a worker came to fix the WiFi only the day after he installed it. Frankly it's pathetic. I'm just trying to play apex and warzone yet it is basically impossible. I could really use some help or advice if you have any! Thank you!

I just recieved a 500/50 internet yesterday, and so far i've only been able to get 380/49 on average in windows with probably 20+ tests done in 24 hours. However i just booted into Ubuntu on the same desktop and got 513/52. Why is this? I have turned off any software on my pc i can think of that could affect the speed. however it is quite a lot isn't it? Thanks :3

Hello guys! I want to ask you if a 24 Mbps Adsl connection is enough for gaming. I know it won't have so high upload speed, but how much worse than the vdsl?

Hey guys! In about a month or so I'm moving into another city to start my college years. At the moment I have a 24 Mbps connection but at my new house ( and city in general) there would be a connection only up to 12 Mbps. So, the 12 Mbps are enough for gaming?

hey guys i just found out that my internet speed is wayyyy smaller than it should be. I'm paying for 300megabits/s. But i only have this much https://www.speedtest.net/result/8611757836 . Does anybody know what is the problem. Is there any way that there might be an issue with my router ? (im using optic cable.., and also the measured speeds are not thru wifi but cable as well)

Help! So Im currently downloading a game and the download speed is really slow! My internet is 500mbps download and upload and I have a samsung 860 evo 500gb ssd but still only getting max 160 mbps but usally just 40mbps. I have removed the restriction in steam, checked off trottle download speed, set high priority to steam in the task manager and have the newest windows update. Also the disk is not sustaining a stable mbps and often drops. I have found a potential error which is that the disk is only running at 1-5% load. How do I fix this? Here is some pictures: My pc specs: (if that could have anything to do with it) I9-9900K Cooled by a Corsair H100i rgb platinum SE 240mm 16gb ddr4 3200mhz Corsair vengeance RGB PRO Corsair rm750x psu 500gb samsung 860 evo ssd + 1 Tb hdd (Downloading on the SSD) Gtx 1060 3gb Asus rog strix z390F s-1151

I own a Link Station Model: LS210D0201 (https://www.buffalotech.com/products/linkstation-210). My uncle gave it to me, and I have a cat 6e cable attached to my ethernet switch. My network ethernet switch (http://us.dlink.com/products/business-solutions/dgs-108/) is connected to my router by a cat 7 cable. The router I own is a NetGear nighthawk x4s (https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/R7800.aspx). My PC (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GZyhxG) is connected to my router by cat 7 as well. I get around 20 megabytes per second on it while trying to transfer files from my PC to it. The place in which I transfer the files two is a virtual hard drive located on the NAS. Is there a way I could make this transfer faster?

My friends and I are going to be rooming with each other in an apartment that supports Verizon or Xfinity intenet plans. One of us does online gaming, two of us watches 4k video, and we all watch lower resolution streaming such as Netflix or youtube. At most we would have 9 devices connected to the internet but the odds those being used at the same time is low. I was wondering how much mbps we should get and if anyone has a recommendation over Verizon or Xfinity?

So I have the Xfinity XB3 router, it’s specified as dual-band 802.11ac. I believe this to be a WiFi Wave1 device (also called a 1x1). It’s offering speeds over 700 Mbps. I’m looking at a 802.11AC wave 2 compatible motherboard (Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard) for a build. It claims to have 802.11AC 1x1 of 433Mbps, or 802.11AC 2x2 of 867Mbps. I know the 2x2 (also known as wave 2) wifi to be backwards compatible with my router’s 1x1 (wave 1) wifi; however, what I can’t seem to find anywhere I look is wether I will get the full 867Mbs using my router’s 1x1 wifi capability or if I’m only going to be getting the 433Mbps as a cap. So if I use 802.11AC 2x2 (Wave2) WiFi connection via my Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard, will I get 867 or 433Mbps? If I am capped at 433Mbps, I might as well use the MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC motherboard, which has better features and is specified for Dual-band 802.11 AC 1x1 WiFi. Please just answer my question, don't sell me on getting one or the other or a different motherboard.

So, I paid for 50 Mbps and then, when I went home to test how many Mbps I got, speedtest.net was saying that I have 30.78 Mbps download and 4.43 Mbps for upload. I tried: Rebooting the router. Unplugging router and plugging back in. Disconnecting everything from my router (devices, except my pc because how will I test it). Unplugging EVERY cable and plugging back in. Waited 5 days maybe something would happen. And still nothing. What should I do?

Hello Upgraded to a package of 400 Mbps but when I use my WiFi 5 Ghz the download speed I get usually is 40-50 Mbps, meanwhile with Ethernet cable I get almost 400Mbps. I use a router that came from Internet Provider and link of model is at the end. Does anyone have any tips how to improve the WiFi internet speed or the problem is that my router is a cheap one. Have called my Internet Provider but honestly they're not so helpful and couldn't help me with any advices to improve my WiFi speed. https://www.normann-engineering.com/products/product_pdf/cable_modems/compal/CH6541 datasheet.pdf

I pay for 100MBPS, my wifi speeds are good, but my PC via ethernet Cat-6e to the router is only getting .5MBPS. I assume the problems could be: bad cable, bad switch on the cable companies router, bad mobo on my PC. Does anyone have trouble shooting steps to recommend after I try a different cable? The best their tech support can do is turn it off and back on... I was thinking I would buy my own modem and switch next to try. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I was wondering, since most ISP will just show "the advantages" of their download and upload speeds, if there is a page / group / watchdog that will analyze the real service offered by those companies. i.e.: Number of blackouts / interrupted service the ISP has each year, How bottlenecked it is, false advertising, download and upload rates, latency, faulty or outdated infrastructure that may put ppl´s data at risk etc. Do you know of any? reading social media, it seems all ISPs somehow deceive their customers.

Hello all, I'm moving and I'm getting comcast but buying my own modem, I got the SURFboard SBG6950AC2 it says it has DOCSIS speeds up to 686 mbps but wifi AC speeds of 1900 mbps. My question, does that mean I'm capped at a max of 686 total from Comcast (even if i have a 1000mbps plan) ? and that I can transfer files locally at speeds up to 1900mbps ? or That my wifi will be faster than my wired connections ?

UPDATE: updated Laptop's network driver, speed went to 80 MB/s --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, I'm transfering files from my laptop to my desktop, but I can't seem to get a speed bigger than 10MB/s. I'm transfering a 1GB file and this is what it looks like: Transfer speed with cat7 LAN cables Transfer speed over WiFi Here is the setup: LAPTOP > LAN CABLE > ROUTER > LAN CABLE > DESKTOP Laptop: this one, Windows 10 Laptop SSD: I'll asume the read speed is over 400 MB/s Laptop Network card: Speed 1.0 Gbps (by going to "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections", right clicking Status on the Ethernet adapter, not sure if the correct place to look) Cable1: cat7 from laptop to router Router: Archer C7, Wireless Speed 1300 Mbps, Gigabit LAN ports Cable2: cat7 from router to desktop Desktop: Windows 10 Desktop Network Card: Speed 1.0 Gbps Desktop SSD: over 500MB/s write speed Where could be the problem that I'm getting only 5 or 10 MB/s (80 Mbps) where I should be getting a theoretical 125 MB/s (1 Gbps)? I have disconnected my laptop from any WiFi networks, so I'm sure it's using the LAN cable to connect to the router. My internet speed is 20 Mbps so I can't give you information about how is the download speed experience there for faster speeds. If you need more info ask me. Thanks for the help.

OK guys so here's the deal I'm moving away from the country side (I live in Ireland by the way) and into a town. My old house has disgusting internet speeds of 3up and 0.5down but when I move to town I should have roughly 50up and 10down, this left me thinking since I'm moving next Friday and we haven't even chosen our internet provider yet, is there anything I can buy that will make my speeds better or is there a way I should ask him/her to setup my internet? I'm not really good when it comes to networking so any help is accepted, thanks

Hi guys I have a 30Mbps down and 3Mbps up internet subscription at home. Now our provider gave us a Huawei HG655D modem (a long time ago). It has wifi b/g/n and 100mbps ethernet and voip. We haven't updated the router once (i did not know it was possible and i dont know how) router specs http://nl.hardware.info/productinfo/207189/huawei-hg655d-modem/specificaties Now it does a good job at home for the most time but there are moments where it just take forever to load simple webpage. Games sometimes have like crazy high ping (over 900) which could be my old laptop which i'm going to upgrade soon (in a week or so) Most of our devices at home have support for wifi ac and Gbps ethernet (mine soon) so i wonder can i get my internet speed (wifi and ethernet) run faster if i buy say a new router or modem with Gbps ethernet and wifi ac dual band and voip. And if it is possible than are there sub 150 euro options out there? What do you guys think? suggest? Please leave a answer below!! Shenki from Holland subscription subscription

I'm looking for a new wireless adapter and I'm not sure which one to pick. Are PCI cards usually better than USB? The adapter won't have a line of sight with the router and the signal will have a considerable distance to travel so an antenna is probably important. I've been looking at a few but i'll take any recommendations. Budget: 25-30$ + Shipping/Tax Usage: Gaming/Streaming I've been considering these: StarTech.com PCI Express Wireless N Adapter TP-LINK TL-WN881ND Edimax EW-7722In Rosewill RNX-N900UBE Rosewill RNX-N180UBE

So, I am trying to work out my real internet speed and how it translates to when I am downloading something of the internet. My download speed on Ookla is around 6.5mbps, it differs a lot. When I download something, it downloads at around 80kbps. Now I'm pretty sure when I test my internet speed on Ookla it is measured in megabits/MB per second and when I download something it's measured in kibibytes/KiB per second (binary conversion because I'm on windows). So using a digital storage calculator I converted 6.5 megabits to kibibytes and it equals about 800 KiB not 80, where have I gone wrong in my conversion/equation. Thanks for any help! You guys are awesome.

This is what my speed test shows: It's not the fastest, but I did recently upgrade from a connection that speedtest showed to be about 256 kbps download. But when downloading anything on steam, utorrent, chrome, etc. I get maybe 500 kbps. I know I can't expect exactly 8.25 mbps whenever I'm downloading anything, but I think the difference between what speedtest shows and what I actually get is too drastic for there not to be anything wrong. Is there any way I can get faster speeds?
