Had a manual fall out of my closet. Well, my 5 year old son's closet, but i assume it got there from me, lol. Got to reading to remember the good old days of 2005 PC building, but then i got a bit angry. How have we had onboard Gigabit LAN from the IDE, DDR1, PCI(non-e still) days and are *just now* getting something slightly better? Like you could pick (literally, though not confirmed) any other bus/connector/spec on this board and show we are 5x-10x better/faster (or more) almost 20 years later, but not onboard wired networking? To save anyone looking it up, multigig Ethernet (2.5Gbps, 5Gbps) as a spec was ratified in 2016 but i can't remember seeing it wide till what, 2021? 2022? Yet we get new wifi routers out BEFORE the spec is even finalized. Again, wtf? Ok pointless rant over. One last pic for nostalgia. Also who still has nightmare about IRQ assignments? And i kinda miss audio cables to the CD drive.

I've been using CCleaner for.. I honestly don't know how long for cleaning up temp files - I like it for that, never used the registry cleaner. I've been reading about it on the forums and have found some conflicting reports regarding it's safety, so this is why I am wondering if there are any better alternatives out there?

Hi LTT forum, I had recently at school a lesson about Facebook. That guy said that facebook is recording everything you do. FB posts, Instagram posts, sites that you visit that has a Facebook link, private messages in messenger,.. etc So I went as soon as possible online to search for my personal Facebook archive. and I found it and literally everything is there! i'm doing a lava/magma themed build using some of the hottest running components ever brought to the market. i'm using the hottest running consumer cpu, the fx 9590. but i'm stuck on what the hottest running video card is. some cards that come to mind are the gtx 480, radeon 6990, and r9 290x. the asus dcu3 fury looks cool and runs hot as well. i am thinking for going for that, but are there any other options? i would like to keep it relatively quiet. so jet fan coolers of the gtx 480 and r9 290x are out. dual or triple fan coolers only. i also have a thing for big cards, so if there are any triple slot beasts out there that run hot, i'm open!

I'm cleaning my computer a bit and noticed File History was using way too much space on my hard drive. It was backing up everything from my C drive but instead of having whatever was current on the C drive, it was just piling things up. So I deleted File History from the hard drive and from "AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows" so I can tell it to backup again, this time using less space. But now it can't find my hard drive. When I click "Add a drive" It sees my smaller hard drive, and an external drive, but not my 1tb. How do I get it to see my 1tb hard drive?

Basically I want you to please make a "list" down below of all the screen types(CRT,LCD,OLED,...) and what panels they use(LCD: TN,IPS,...). I would really appreciate the help you give me... So, for school Im doing research regarding Nuclear Fusion, it´s history, who theorized it and so on. Ive written about the different types of Nuclear Fusion, the approach and the Theopry, but I need some historical context. What I need also is the name of the physicist who theorized Nuclear Fusion. If you hel me I would be really grateful, I do not need information itself, but just point me in its general direction. Hello, I can't seem to find all of the previous BIOS/UEFI versions of this board on the official site. On the older site of ASRock, you could just go to the BIOS section and get a list of all of the previous BIOS versions in case the one you had didn't work for you along with the "changelog" for the specific version of bios. Now when you go to the ASRock website, you can only find the latest BIOS along with a few experimental ones as you can see on the link below: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77 Extreme4/#BIOS The only reason why I'm interested in updating the BIOS is because my 2600K is finally starting to show it's age and I've read that somewhere along the way, they've patched the PLL so that it works as it should along with some welcome changes to the fan controllers. I am currently on the P2.40 BIOS and would like to see the changelog of the new versions to see if an update is needed at all. Does anyone know how/where to find the previous versions along with the changelogs?

Do you know which PC was the first to output to a monitor and not punch cards or lamps etc? It looks like it's the Xerox Alto but i have no evidence of it. Edit: What i mean by monitor is, something we would recognize as a monitor today, like a TV, something that had "pixels" or calculator screen etc.

My cousin is saving up for a gtx 1080 and for Christmas I thought I would give her some money towards it but also wanted to find something a bit more personal. I thought that the first dedicated graphics card would be a kind of cool gag gift. It should power the 1440p 144hz experience she is looking for right? /s. I want her to be able to run it on her computer for shits and giggles however. What is the first graphics card which will be able to do that?

I recall watching at episode of the WAN show or another LTT produced video that had a story about the origins of amd64. I beleive that in the video they said AMD looked at a picture of Intel's die design and implemented amd64 from there, stealing the 64-bit market out from under them. I don't know the accuracy of this story but I would love help finding that video or something of that nature.

I know it only lasted less than a year but it was still one of the most influential events of the later half of the 1800's, in fact I would say only the American Civil war/Unification of Germany was more signifigant than the whole Franco-Prussian war It inspired marx, demonstrated that a commune government could be set up, and so much more, why does it not get more love nowadays?
