So Ill start off by clearly stating i am a novice at this Anyway! I i installed an M.2 SSD into my PC as i wanted to upgrade from my old HDD setup. After physically installing it my PC would no longer boot. It would load up the BIOS then upon exit just restart then return to BIOS. I tried selecting the correct boot device but it didn't make any difference. At this point i though screw it, and loaded a windows installer onto a flash drive using my laptop and set about installing windows. Before installing windows i unplugged both HDD's (1 2TB drive with windows and mostly storage and 1 1TB drive which was just storage) Windows installed without any issues. I created a partition to separate windows from everything else that i install, windows has about 100GB of space to itself. Anyway despite everything my old drives are still invisible. Im happy to just format the 2TB drive as i have backed everything up (hopefully!) the 1TB drive is the one where everything is backed up, this may turn up to be a mistake (lol) Basically its not the end of the world if i cant save anything on either drive but i would like to rescue what is on the 1TB drive if i can. Any advice on how to fix my predicament would be greatly appreciated Feel free to make fun if you like cus y'know, forum life.

I inspected element because I wanted to copy the CSS style for inspiration and... Hello All, I got excited last night after I found an old beige box down at my shed and decided to clean up my desk and create an open air, suspended, under-desk PC. I've always wanted to overclock my old i5-4670k , but have never been able to due to it being mounted in my old Cardboard-PC. I also recently picked up a GTX-690 for cheap, so it was time for a new 'case' for my daily driver. Specs as follows: i5-4670k @4.3GHz (Can boot at 4.4 and 4.5, but just can't get it stable :(, still happy with the 900MHz overclock on the basic M-ITX board however.) GA-Z87N-WiFi MoBo 8GB DDR3-1600 240GB SSD 500 GB + 2TB HDD's Gigabyte ODIN Pro 800W PSU Gigabyte GTX-690 Intel 2x2 Wireless AC adaptor Noctua NH-U9S CPU Cooler HP $24 wireless keyboard and mouse combo (don't judge me, it works and it's cheap :)) Energy C5 floor standing front speakers, Bose Satellite Surround Denon AVR-2870 AV receiver using hacked realtek drivers for DTS-Live The build came together like this: Step1 Find an old beige box and hack out the important mounting hardware and on button Step2: Start the layout process on the underside of the desk. Make sure to have marked where the underside table supports go to you don't have clearance issues. Step3: Affix the mounting hardware to the table using flat head screws so that you don't have interference issues. Step4: Nout your CPU cooler before checking for graphics card clearance (turns out there is about a cigarette papers clearance in this case between the graphics card, and jusssst enough room to get the cpu power plug in.) Step5: Get everything else mounted up and star running cables Step6: http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww5/manitoublack/Under Desk PC/7_zps1hjtylvz.jpg[/img] Remember that everything is going to be hanging from the under side of a desk, so it is important to secure all your cables. Zip-ties and screw-in hooks are your friends here. Step7: Very carfully with your mate, turn the desktop over and start hooking up all the power cables and doing your best to manage them Step8: Enjoy your cable free desktop and infinitely expandable hidden PC. Plans in the future are to change out the M-ITX Haswell system for something more modern (probably the next intel revision.) But for now it runs the games I play perfectly well and gives me a large and clean workspace for study and the mining engineering work I do. Total cost of the build was $12AUD at the hardware store for the screws, hooks and a 4" cutoff angle grinder wheel. Thanks for reading and enjoy your builds:) Regards Jordan

I'm getting mysterious random hidden folders in multiple locations in Windows Explorer - Documents folder, C Drive, D Drive, possibly more. Each folder contains several files with random real word file names - see screenshots. Several types of files are includes including JPG, DOC, XLS, RTD, Open Office. However when I open any of the files they contain no contents and are blank files. If I delete any of the folders they somehow recreate themselves soon after - this time with different random file names... Can anybody tell me what's going on? Is this a virus or something malicious? What can I do about this? (I've already scanned with my antivirus). Thanks!!

There is a lot of companies that supply VPN's. I wonder if it will be possible to buy bandwidth from data carriers in DC's and provided services like that. With no monitoring and logging. Symmetrical bandwidth and load balance all the clients through a /24 subnet with an AS number. Would that be possible to host the service and how may people will be interested? The internet is monitored a lot and more and more people wants vpn's, but due to the fact that its expensive and have speed issues its not always the best option in the given area, SO..... i want to start my own VPN service but need support on setup, hosting and design. Any ideas?

Not sure what section this would fit in. Mods please feel free to move it to an appropriate location. Please NOTE: I and anyone else using this forum nor site admins, moderators, owners, etc are not responsible for you deciding to explore anything listed here and getting infected or other problems occurring as a result. This is just a list for your information This will be a list of sites i've found to try and run various miners in the background on your computer. It will be updated periodically when I have time. Please feel free to send me sites that you have found do so so I can add them. I thought it might be useful to have a list of these sites somewhere so people know what areas to avoid and/or add to their blockers Ways to prevent unauthorized mining I will try to keep it somewhat organized by: Site type, miner type, sites that have in the past but don't now (supposedly), and other categories you may suggest. Coinhive.com, coin-hive.com, and coinhive.min.js are possibly the biggest provider of said website mining. Blocking it can help (not guaranteed though) prevent miners specific to this provider from popping up When you suggest a site, please do not link it, just the name and suffix should suffice. Type of site, type of miner used if possible, and other information that may be helpful is welcome.

hello! I'm Blitzbrieg! i was surfing through youtube and came across this video, My question was is this true? can you literally unlock hidden processing cores that stands idle until one dies? i'm a bit scared about even using this method because i have not trusted this source. but i do like to make more of an understanding whether or not this is a joke that's meant to make your pc die within 12 minutes after a restart or is this something that can work? Aside from that! You the community or Linus Tech Tips! please send your response! also it would be nice as a fast as possible video! just a heads up!

Hey guys, I've been looking for a while but can't seem to find any! Do any of you guys know any decent yet relatively cheap spy cameras? My mom has put the house up for sale, so we are having people come round into the rooms looking around. However, I want to setup a small spycam in my room just to keep reassured. Thanks !

Sorry for misleading title. I should of said "What are the top 3 VPN providers?" ------- HI, I've started to get into the VPN club, as I have notice my most surfing time would be on torrent sites or stream sites. I did some research, and chose to go for CyberGhost. Few people mention it's good, so I thought I'll give it a go. I've used it for few hours, and it seems easy to use even thought once 3 hours are up, you'll be disconnected. That's ok. I can just simply reconnect. Apart from that I'm been reasonably happy, but I'm wondering if there's better VPN out there, as I might be wasting my time with this one. I see on review sites people mention PIA, Torguard or ExpressVPN. All 3 seems good I guess except PIN and ExpressVPN don't provide a free trial, which puts me off a bit. I'm not sure about Torguard so yeah... I'm hoping from you guys that I'll get some good insight on your experiences with this mention or any in particular that you've used. What I'm looking for is Speed, Security and Privacy which would be commonly used among VPN, but some lack it. I don't want logs to be kept, but for legal issues then I guess I can let it slide. I don't mind paying for the service unless it's reasonable, and trustworthy. I heard people having issues with cancelling PIA auto-renewal or getting support. So...I would be happy if you guys could list your 3 top providers and tell me your experience. Thanks

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1Q4fgFZ Amazon: http://geni.us/43tc What can you do in VLC that you wouldn't expect an average media playback software to be capable of?

Being that TrueCrypt volume files have file sizes that are evenly divisible by 512 and their content passes chi-squared randomness tests any ways. Is this going to be enough to convince you to create a hidden volume? I think we are due for another leap in encryption. http://www.heraldonline.com/2013/05/20/4877135/data-inside-truecrypt-containers.html For $999 the product page says that it can decrypt TrueCrypt, FileVault2, and PGP volumes in minutes. Runs from a USB thumb drive and recovers passwords without installation on a target PC (Portable Version included) http://www.lostpassword.com/kit-forensic.htm

Hi guys, So when I realized that Chrome was blocking Youtube embeds on LTT due to them being non-secure (as Youtube embeds don't use HTTPS, thus causing Chrome to block them as "unsafe scripts"), I started searching for a way to prevent Chrome from doing this. My solution was a bit heavy handed, but worked. Add the flag "--allow-running-insecure-content" to your Chrome shortcut. However, this will mean that any website you load with this Chrome (where the flag is enabled/used) will load unsecure scripts automatically. Which is a huge potential security risk. Do this at your own discretion. In my Googling, I found the "chrome:*//flags" page, remove the *, and in it are a bunch of flags/features that are experimental for Chrome. I had to add the * because it kept making an entire line of text just disappear as it is probably trying to make it a link, but failing since the protocol is "chrome" and not "http". Overall, I found some pretty cool flags. Some dangerous ones, and some interesting ones (and combinations thereof). Here is a list of the ones I particularly liked: Stacked Tabs Tabs don't get smaller, they just stack. Here is a picture of an example of what it potentially does: Which was pulled from this thread. FPS Counter Gives you the FPS a website is running at if hardware acceleration is enabled. Kinda funny honestly. Enable Password Generation Chrome makes a password for you to use for accounts when it detects an account creation page. Enable Performance Monitoring Passively gathers performance data and displays it graphically for you. Enable Online Cache mode When the source is unavailable, it reads from your cache to give a webpage. Track time spent on each page (self explanatory) Just search the flags page using Control + F (Find) with the emboldened & underlined text to find the flag I list. Here is what is at the top of the page in "chrome:*//flags": So do any of this at your own risk, like I said before regarding discretion. There are quite a lot of site orientation flags (such as, fixed position elements, compositing for fixed root backgrounds, etc.), but I don't use those myself, though they can be useful, I'm sure. Here is Chrome's Wiki regarding flags for those curious. Thanks, Vitalius
