Hey guys, So today I figured out that my Sapphire Radeon R9 280, which is a PCIe 3.0 graphics card, is stuck on PCIe 2.0 16x. I discovered this in the menu of the AMD Crimson software. So I went into the Gigabyte DualUEFI BIOS and I went into the GFX Configuration in the Peripherals section of the BIOS. Does this mean anything? Am I supposed to have another option selected here? After I looked here, I went to the Miscellaneous section of the M.I.T. menu and found this: There was no Gen3 option available? Does anybody know how to fix this?

So my Razer Blackwidow had been working fine, for the most part, (razer keyboards have been known to have problems from time to time). I've been using it for a little more than two years now, and its been good. But the other day I replaced my Deathadder with a G502 because of my abnormally large Sasquatch hands. Anyway, before i got the mouse, my keyboard hadn't given me any problems for about a year, but about 2 days after i started using my keyboard, i.e., last night, my keyboard starting exhibiting weird actions. It would repeat stuck keys. Like they weren't stuck physically, but it would repeat them again and again, and at first only pressing the windows button fixed it for about 2 minutes. Then it would start again. The keys were ah.093, sometimes starting with a g, with minor variation, but mostly it was just ah.093. It kept on happening for the next 30 minutes on and off, so i figured ill just leave my computer off for the night and that should fix it right? nope... When I woke up this morning it was even worse. Pressing the windows key didn't even work. The logon screen was just spammed with some characters, although I am pretty sure it were those original ones. Note that I did have to press enter to proceed to the password entry screen (Windows 10) Then after messing with it for about 5 or 10 minutes, i got some of the keys to work, but for some reason, some keys like a 5 0 h t m would refuse to work. I have honestly no idea what is causing this. I didn't spill any water on it recently (i did about 6 or 7 months ago, but i left it to dry for a week unplugged and opened, and it worked fine from then on). The only thing that has changed is the installation of the logitech software. I tried to uninstall it but i can't considering i am unable to log on. I will try to get access to another keyboard but that might be difficult as I am now living in a college dorm, but we'll see. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions. I need this to fixed as soon as possible, and I really don't feel like dropping 100-150 on a new keyboard... Thanks guys!

Hello everyone, I got a new machine yesterday, so naturally yesterday was update day. Got about 160 of those. About an hour or so ago, I told the machine to reboot, and now that I've checked on it it's still in the 'restarting' screen. It only say restarting, the Windows 8.1 circle thingy is happily rotating, no "installing updates, please don't shut off your computer". Any suggestions how to fix it? I should mention that this came without a Windows install disk and not even a serial number. I forgot to check that with a tool before updating, so screwing up the OS would kind of be a pain in the ass, especially since I don't know how to boot to a USB (tried it on a different device of the same line, didn't work at all) on this thing. Cheers!

My, according to Apple, "Vintage" 2008 iMac(Core 2 duo, 4gb Ram, 500gb HDD) is nearly stuck halfway on what seems to be one of the last install screens. This install has been going on for about 5 hours now. Is it a bottleneck due to my system specs, or is something actually wrong? Please help! Thanks LTT community!

Hi. I have a Asus strix gtx 980, and i'm monitoring it with Asus' Gpu Tweak softwear. My problem is, that Gpu tweak shows that my gpu always is running at the maximum clock speeds (Gpu clock: 1177 MHz Memory: 7012 MHz) If i overclock it, it will just go up to the value i've set it to, and again, not move at all. Isn't this card supposed to trottle itself down when not used? If it is, then what can i do to make it do so? Ps. I have attached a picture of, what Gpu Tweak says about my Gpu

Hey guys, I recently upgraded from a 144hz 1080p monitor to an ips 1440p monitor (dell u2515h), due to its low price for a 1440p panel, and I was very pleased with both its colors, and the increased real estate. This was however until I found a stuck pixel. I'm still not too sure what it is, because the red and blue elements of the pixel work fine (I cant see the pixel on a red/ blue background), and its only the green element that isn't working. This leads me to believe it is just a defective pixel rather than one that is stuck on a color. Reading up on it, the pixel may be stuck on colors like red, however in my case it looks like a combination of red and blue, based on what the pixel should be displaying (pink on a white background, and really dark on a grey background). I have already sent a message to the online retailer I bought it from, to ask if I can have it replaced (nothing was stated about dead/stuck pixels on their site), however as it is the weekend I suspect it will be some time before I hear back from them. I have not tried the more physical methods of re-flowing the liquid in the pixel, and I only ran the color spectrum videos for around 20 mins. I can live with it, as it quite hard to notice on anything other than a white background, but its a shame for something so small to taint an otherwise brilliant monitor (imo).

I have a Asus R9 270x DirectCUII and when I put it under load using valley benchmark or in game the core clock caps out at 1000 mhz, and 1400 mhz memory clock, it is supposed to come factory overclocked to 1120 mhz core a 1400 mhz memory. I have tried manually overclocking both the core and memory it with MSI Aferburner and AMD CCC and after it still stays at the same clock speeds. I have the latest drivers and have tried rebooting, so if you have any suggestions that would be great Thanks

After a few months of laziness, I attempted to try hackintoshing again. My previous thread here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/238087-ive-tried-an-infinite-amount-of-boot-flags-for-my-hackintosh/had a reply that I forgot to see, so I tried it once again. This time I'm using clover instead of chameleon, and I've made more progress compared to last time. This time I found that just using -v nv_disable=1 got me the furthest, but now the furthest I get is after all the verbose text whizzes by, it boots into a black screen with an apple logo, with an empty loading bar and I have access to a spinning beach ball mouse. Here's a pic http://i.imgur.com/eCa1v6bh.jpgI let it sit there for half an hour, and nothing. The bar hasn't moved and all I can do is move around a spinning beach ball. Am I doing something wrong or am I supposed to wait longer? I've followed tonymacx86's Yosemite clover tutorial also put my DSDT and SSDT .aml files in too. My specs should be in my sig. Oh yea, I've unplugged all my other drives with windows and stuff, so its just one drive plugged in with Ubuntu on it, which I plan to install osx onto that drive (typed this on my phone so idk if the formattings all messed up)

I was wondering if I could paint my case orange instead of the same graphite black cooler master offers. Is there only a certain type of paint that can be used on cases and all other paints could harm the computer or not? The case I'm getting is Cooler Master Elite 430 mid tower. I don't care whether the paint will be matte or glossy, but glossy is requested.

Hey, Thanks for clicking. My Sony EVO 850 SSD (That I just purchased) is currently having issues cloning. It keeps getting stuck at 6% and then the cloning software becomes unresponsive. The first time this happened it said something could not be found and that it might not be able to complete the clone. It then stopped the clone. Now, it just gets stuck at 6%. Any suggestions to resolve this issue would be great. 6% for me falls within the first 10,000 mbs. Thanks, Jake Carmine

Hi guys, I'm trying out my first water cooling build and I can not seem to get two things to happen. I put a straight bitspower fitting into a Clear PrimoChill LRT Advanced tubing 3/8" x 1/2" to test it out. The tube won't come off now. Is there a way of removing the tubing safely without damaging both, the tube and the fitting? And secondly, the compression fitting on the other end didn't go down on the tube all the way. It won't even reach the threading that it screws onto. But I can feel that the tube is held down really freaking tight. The tube on the barb itself is so tight that I think it may work without the compression, which is why it won't come off either. Any suggestions guys? I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now.. Thanks, P

The screws in question are screwed into springs in a square formation around the GPU chip, while there are some normal screws on the corners of the PCB. I guess you could call these spring screws retention screws? IDK how to even look these things up. I have a small bit attachment for the smaller than normal Phillips head interface the screws have. The corner screws come out easily, but the ones in the springs won't budge. The screw will turn from the leverage, but the screw won't come up with the tool because the spring is holding it in place. I've tried screwing sideways to have more gravity on my side with no success. I was interested in doing some maintenance for dust and such because I've concluded it's been making excessive noise the past few months and the temps aren't that good either. Maybe I could reapply some paste after 2 years. I actually have done this before on this same GPU 2 years ago, but I didn't have this issue with the spring screws. I wonder if these can get irreparably jammed.

Hi, as the title says, my 750ti is stuck at 405mhz. It's like capped. I'm running Win 10 Pro x64 and have a 5820k. I have the 353.63 drivers, which I just re-installed. Every time I restart the driver, or open an nVidia app, Afterburner freaks out and shows that my gpu is running at like 2888 mhz, before it reverts back to 405. P.S. This is my work/rendering pc, and having a severely underclocked GPU slows s*** down. I'm so done with nVidia + Win 10, it kills me from the inside.

Hey, so my Avast Free Antivirus and Malwarebytes Antimalware Free (MBAM) gets stuck during a scan for the whole computer (custom scan in MBAM and the whole computer's scan in Avast(translated from Finnish)). Softwares doesn't crash. They still keep scanning but doesn't go forward after hitting one specific file. I can run "smart scan" with Avast and "threat scan" with MBAM without problems. The problematic file seems to be with Avast pots.dll.mui Not 100% sure what it is with MBAM but I believe it's the same becouse this is kinda new problem. Didn't occur one week ago. I am not sure if this is a needed info but my "threat scan" on MBAM one day ago and it found POP.Optional.OpenCandy. I removed it. MBAM = Malwarebytes AntiMalware

Using a Surface Pro 3. Choosing a single image as Picture for lockscreen and wallpaper works. However, when changed to slideshow mode and chose the folder the images reside in, it doesn't work. For wallpaper, it just chooses the first image and doesn't change to the next image when the time interval is up. For lockscreen it doesn't even use the first image in the folder. It continues to use the previous image that was used in Pictures mode. Anyone else having this issue. Anyone know the solution to it? All help is appreciated thanks!

Up until today I've been using a 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD as my storage for all my programs, games and OS. Today I bought and SSD to try and get that wonderful speed boost everyone talks about. I got the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB. So I plugged in the SATA and power cable and booted normally so I could migrate everything. I did that. I had to delete about 40GB of stuff to make it fit onto the SSD. So I did the migration. It told me it worked then it shut down my computer, I signed in and it showed the OS was now on the SSD and that all the files and what not had copied over. The HDD still had all the original stuff on it so I clicked format to erase it and when it finished it shut down my computer. Then I went into the boot order in the BIOS and moved the SSD forward and now I just get "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key... This happens when i put the SSD first. I'm confused as to why in the boot order there are 4 things even though I only have 2 drives. There is, Windows Boot Manager (P2:ST1000DM00: Windows Boot Manager (P4: Samsung SSD , P2: ST1000DM003-1ER162 and finally P4: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB. When I booted off the Seagate it seemed to take me to log into Windows 8.1 screen where I type in the password. It had my Microsoft email but it wasn't using the Windows theme I had selected when it was booting properly. When I typed in my password it just got stuck on "Preparing Windows". I am so confused as to why it isn't booting correctly... I have the original installation media on a USB. Any suggestions?
