Alright so I have been trying to find a replacement for google drive for a while but I've had some issues with trying to replace some functionality of Google Drive. All I really want to be able to do is to host files on a server locally, then be able to create a link to either the file itself or to a folder that has files in it, then be able to send people that link in order for them to download it. I know that if I have a server setup to be accessed remotely I could always have people login and find the files they want and download them, but I work with a lot of non tech savvy people who would not be able to navigate that kind of structure, and Google Drive's ability for me to just create a link for them to click is something I couldn't do without. If anyone knows of a NAS OS or anything like that that has this capability it would be greatly appreciated

Summary Google’s “Magic Eraser” feature on their phone cameras have broke due to a software update. And no, this feature has not be patched yet. Once it gets patched, I’ll update it. Quotes My thoughts What a Google move to be honest. Jokes aside, this is bad. This in my opinion is what made the Pixel 6 stand out to me. And look, now’s it’s broken. Wonderful. I really hope they fix this because a lot of people rely on this feature. Sources theverge

Sadly I became one, of what sounds to be several users, who has experienced their phone mysteriously cracking without dropping the device or any sudden impact to it. Looking online at the pixel community it appears this is not an isolated case with a good post on Reddit showing this is impacting quite a few different Pixel 6 users. https://www.reddit.com/r/pixel_phones/comments/qkimuf/pixel_6_pro_screen_cracked_randomly/?sort=new When you contact Google they will lead you down the same road and state that you need to pay to repair the screen (£230 in the UK which is extortionate in proportion to the cost the device) and won't acknowledge that this has been raised by other customers. Now I know there will be skeptics that will say "You broke your device". Now if I were to have broken it, I would happily acknowledge the fact and eat the cost. But this device has been safely handled by myself and kept in a Dbrand Grip case since purchasing the device. Are there other members in the LTT community seeing this issue if you use a Pixel 6/Pro?

Does anyone knows how to solve this problem. Every time my teacher schedules a Google Meet meeting in Google Calendar, a reminder will come up on my phone and my personal account will automatically ask to enter the meeting schedule for class which I should be entering with my school's education account. I have multiple accounts on my phone with my personal account being the main one and another one which is my education account. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening because every time I enter a schedule meeting for class, my teacher keeps calling my name and wondering if I'm trying to use my personal account to enter class.

Has anyone else in the LTT community run into the issue with the Pixel 3 randomly bricking on its own? I had a pixel 3, basically vanilla phone, just randomly brick last week. The is charged, and charges on a wireless charger, but the screen won't turn on. I know the phone is on, as I am able to plug it into a computer where it registers as "QUSB_BULK_CID:0402_SN:#######". Apparently, that is the basic Qualcomm bootloader that cannot boot into the Google image of the Pixel, leaving the device useless. Some have suggested if Google releases the firehose file/software, owners could fix their own phone. There are several other places this has been referenced, and it appears that google is aware of the issue, but has not taken any steps to resolve, and it has been happening at least since June of 2021: https://www.engadget.com/pixel-3-edl-bricking-issue-163056633.html https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/192008282 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fix-pixel-3-qusb_bulk_cid-xxxx_sn-xxxxxxxx.4205331 https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/08/31/pixel-3-and-3-xl-phones-are-getting-stuck-in-edl-mode-and-seemingly-bricked/ It seems rather suspect that these phones would start "randomly" having this issue around the time of the Pixel 6 release. I have spoken to a few pixel owners that unknowingly have had the same issue, but chalked it up to a broken phone, and decided to purchase something new.

So I ordered a screen for my google pixel 3a on ebay. The screen on the left is the "new" screen but there is a small piece missing (probably cut out). The screen on the right is the original screen I removed but with the small piece included. As you can see, I circled the piece with red circles on each screen. I don't know the purpose of this small piece but I assume it has to do with grounding due to the fact after I had connected the screen to my phone for testing, it worked with no issues. If anyone can help me understand the purpose of this small component, please let me know. Thank you.

I've been using the stock gallery on phone for 2 years on my samsung phone and i had organused pretty everything to a T. All my important documents/photos were in one place and i could easily access them. I had Photos on my device but never opened it and in a bout of boredom and opened to see some of the "smart" feature like image searching and whatnot. Google starts backing up my photos so i just thought it was making a copy of my gallery and then uploading it into the cloud but when i go back to my stock gallery i noticed missing photos and videos and some of my folders had dissapered. It was then i relaized that photos yoinked all my stuff and has thrown all my curation into disarray. Any one know how i can revers this? Is there some kind of "restore" button/option? or do i have to restore everything manually?

Summary YouTube/Google sent the Groovy bot team a cease and desist order forcing shutdown by August 30th, 2021. Quotes My thoughts I am pretty shocked at the news. Given that groovy bot is five years old and used on "16 million Discord servers" with hundreds of millions of users, it is crazy Google would do this now. Most of the discord servers I am part of, from small friend servers to large communities, use groovy bot. It is so shocking that it will have to be replaced everywhere. I do not have sources for this part, but others state that YouTube might be working with Discord more closely now for some first-party integration. Recently YouTube/Discord started offering free trials of Nitro for YouTube Premium subscribers or free trails of YouTube Premium for Nitro subscribers. When talking to The Verge, Nick Ammerlaan, the creator of Groovy bot, stated, "They probably just didn't know about it, to be honest." Which I find hard to believe. Summary The favorable phone from Google, The Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro that will come with a "custom" Tensor chip is confirmed to not include a charger in the box. Woops, Google fell into what I call the "Samsung-Apple" Hole. Quotes According to GSMArena: My thoughts Not surprised, I knew Google considers Apple their competitor in the market so That's to be expected considering companies like to follow suit with what Apple does, because Apple never fails with what they do no matter what (well Almost). Also 100% the Pixel 6 lineup won't even have a headphone jack unlike the Pixel 5a, So RIP people's dream of Google including a better charger, if they even had one. We will see what it will look like with the Pixel 6a by then. Also Google, Not all people have a Type-C charger, You fool. Sources There are so, soo many sources confirming it so I'll leave a duckduckgo search term: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=google+pixel+6+will+not+have+a+charger from where i First saw it: https://gsmarena.com/google_pixel_6_and_pixel_6_pro_wont_have_a_charger_in_the_box-news-50558.php Source GSMArena provides: https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/17/22628702/google-pixel-6-charger-not-included

Can't find a forum with decent people for google cloud help so I'm asking here, does any have any experience creating a custom win10 disk image for gcloud compute engine and could help out on how to do it? I have my own windows license and refuse to pay Google's fees for their own windows licenses - stupid expensive.

I have begun setting up a new rig and logged into Chrome with my main account. Nothing is syncing and it is really annoying. Chrome has always synced between my old PC and my MacBook, but for some reason it can't with this new PC - I've tried reinstalling, clearing everything, etc. Any suggestions?

I know, this is extremely idiotic of me to ask. I need to help a friend out with the situation and it matters alot They know the google account email and passwords but have lost the SIM that is associated with the 2FA on the account. No email is set up for a backup and when following up with the relevant options on googles recovery page, we are led to this. I am fairly certain that any other details associated with the account are also known but just can't seem to make any use of them in recovery. No backup codes have been set for this email either (yes I know). Is there any way I can make use of any of the other details on this account or haggle my way through?

I have a Netgear 5-port unmanaged switch (GS605) that I'm attempting to connect to my Nest Wifi. The whole network ran flawlessly until I had to factory reset the Nest Wifi. After I got my mesh network up and running, I tried to plug the switch in and it immediately killed the internet connection. Wireless network was still up, just no internet. I unplugged the switch and the internet connection returned. I hardwire my computer directly into the Nest Wifi, but that leaves 3 devices with no hardwire connection. Is this a setting with the router? The switch is unmanaged so it can't be that (I think). Maybe my NIC?

Summary The Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the FBI collaborated to create a fake secure messaging app that they put on Google Pixels and sold to criminals. The AFP and FBI used the backdoor in the app to get information that led to the arrest of over 800 criminals including high level mafia member and drug bosses My thoughts Not sure how I feel about this, all for taking out criminals but it makes you wonder if everything you say on the internet, private or not, is being listened in on. I wonder how far governments will go with this, will they start targeting people who simply were buying drugs on the platform? I've noticed that most advanced users prefer DuckDuckGo because it doesn't employ machine learning to learn from your search history, making it ideal for research and general use.

Is it possible for a Google Document to contain potential malware that can be downloaded upon opening the link? Please help me! Here's my story: Someone send me a Google Doc link (a client from fiverr). In it was his discord name/Skype ID to better communication. After I opened the link I got suspicious because why would someone send a Google Doc just to let me know about his discord name. I quickly scanned the link in virustotal and found out it contains... Fishing? I didn't understand Although fishing attacks from what I know requires you to log in into a fake login page, but the link is 100% a Google domain+it didn't ask to login or something like that. So here comes the question, am I being affected/did my pc download malware, Even though it's an official Google Doc link? Please help me out! Thanks Here's the link, DO NOT OPEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, if it's a malware. I don't want someone else to get affected by it : <removed by staff>

Summary The Tech Giant Google has isolated the compute core which does data processing like speech recognition. Also The Tech giant has decided to add a feature that allows you to decide what a app can track. My thoughts I doubt that Google did this out of their own kindness, rather I reckon that they did this to rival Apple as privacy is becoming a must have features for customers.
