We can't have one person determine which brand is the best. What we have to do is which part is good from your view & explain why. Be clear on what part you are posting. Don't just say it is good. Explain how it is good. Benchmarks are not required, but they are recommended. I am very strict on benchmarks. Don't use 3DMark for benchmarks. I suggest FPS benchmarks & timing benchmarks. I HIGHLY recommend that you also post a link to the reviews of the part you recommended. Right: I recommend the Intel Core i7 4790K because even though it has a successor, the i7 6700K, it is still a solid CPU for gaming & content creation. You can see the benchmarks for gaming with the GTX 980 here & Adobe Photoshop & Premiere CC here. Click here to learn more about this part. I recommend this Samsung SSD because there are a lot of positive reviews, has a good capacity for storing your important applications, & is a really good bang for your buck because it's $90 for 250GB. Click here to see it on PCPP. I recommend the BitFenix Pandora MATX because it doesn't take much space, has good airflow, & it looks beautiful. Click here to see it on PCPP. I recommend this GTX 980 because it can do solid 1080P gaming & if you SLI can play games at 1440P & 4K. There are a lot of positive reviews. Click here for review, here for benchmarks, & here for the parts. Wrong: Intel Core i7 4690K GTX 980 because it is amazing for video editing. AMD FX 9590 because it is awesome/really fast/has 8 cores. I recommend the 1X8 Crucial case. BitFenix Please don't try to shoot people's comments down & start flamewars. I accept constructive criticism if you disagree.

Welcome to the one and only troubleshooting guide where you will find information on alot of error codes and other issues. However, when the troubleshooting guide you need is not in here, create a topic about it, and when it gets answered, PM me the answer and the creator of the answer and I will add it here (with credit ofcourse). Windows 10 upgrade error code troubleshooting: To fix this error: Locate the registery key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade] The key should exist, but if it doesn't, you'll need to create it. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with Name = "AllowOSUpgrade" (WITHOUT THE QOUTES) and set the Value = 0x00000001 Error Code: 0x80200056 means your upgrade process got interrupted because the computer for instance accidentally did a reboot. To fix this, try upgrading again. Error Code: 0x800F0922 happens when there isn't enough free space on your computer or partition. You have to use software to increase the size of the SRP to fix this, if your HDD/SSD doesn't have enough space try deleting some programs. Error Code: 0x800F0923 happens when a specific driver or software is not compatible with the upgrade to Windows 10. To fix this error: Go to the Get Windows 10 app. Click the hamburger menu button and click on Check your PC. Identify which driver is not compatible. Source: http://www.windowscentral.com/errors-windows-10-upgrade-fix Windows error codes: No post/no powerup: BSOD Posting: Blue Screens (BSOD): Beep/Post codes for several BIOSes: If you have any error(s) that is/are not in this list, please let me know in the comments or via PM/DM. I hope this helped you. Please give me some feedback and if you liked it, you know what to do! - TEC Need this post in raw? You can find it here: http://pastebin.com/7HYfUFwM

Looking to buy a new pc that can run three 2560 x 1440 144hz monitors at highest fps for most games like Fallout 4,Ark,GTA V,Star wars battlefront, and Assassins Creed Syndicate. Skip to 1 if you want to skip the story. So right now I have a Intel Core i7- 4790 quad-core and a gtx 760. This was my first switch from console and I was happy with it for a while. After a while I wanted to upgrade monitors and play at higher fps and I'm going to make a whole new gaming setup including the desk, chair, and monitors. If any of you guys know anything about desks I really like this one because of how useful it is with the cord organizers and desktop mount, but I can't find one that isn't the stand up desks (PS I'm too lazy to stand up). I'm not sure about what I'm going to get yet, but first step is the PC. 1. Budget: The budget for the computer alone, I hope can be around $2000 USD. It can go up to $3000 USD, but for example if for $2000USD I can get 120 fps I will not go up $1000USD unless the other ones baller B). I live in California. 2. Aim: Going to use this primarily for gaming I would enjoy for this to be able to run anything I want like Fallout 4,Ark,GTA V,Star wars battlefront, and Assassins Creed Syndicate at 2560 x 1440 highest fps. 3. Monitors: I would like to play this with 3 monitors eventually. If you guys think its better that I stay at one monitor please tell me why, but ideally three 2560 x 1440 at highest fps. 4. Peripherals: I have a Corsair Strafe RGB CherryMX Blue with corsair m90 mouse both black. 5. Why I'm upgrading: I'm upgrading for a much better performing pc. Mine can run most games sure, but I'm in a current position where upgrading seems possible and I would like to do it. If possible I would like to keep my old build intact for someone else to use. Current Build Cpu- Intel Core i7-6700k 4.0GHz Quad-Core Cpu Cooler- Corsair H100i GTX 70.6 CFM Liquid MotherBoard-Asus z71 deluxe Memory- Unsure Storage- Unsure Video Card- EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6 GB Case- Corsair Carbide Series 500r Artic White steel If possible I want it to have a theme. It can be anything even green and red for christmas ( ), but I'll base the rest of my gaming setup on it and it will probably be in another forum here . Thanks for all help or suggestions. I'm not that tech savvy so sorry in advance. EDIT: Thinking about starting off with a titan then buying a new titan each time I add a monitor then finishing off with 3 titans 3 monitors, or just sli not sure yet. I might just stay with one monitor I didn't think it would be this hard to run 7680x1440p right now with a 760 I run 2 1080p monitors over 50 fps and with quadruple the budget....

Hey there, So, I'm in the process of completely upgrading my system. And I mean completely because, right now my pc's is basically wreckless.I'm talking dual core processor with 1.3ghz intel motherboard and 2GB DDR2 RAM and Nvidia GT 9600. So, basically the point of an absolutely new machine would be for me to find the most elegant, performance active and a real power saver and a real BEAST as well.I'm talking 4.1 ghz asus motherboard with 16GB DDR3 RAM. and nvidia GTX 970 and improvements in power supply cooling and all those So, Lets start off with the monitor... Now, I was hoping that I could get an LED 24 inches or more. with built in speakers so i don't need an extra 2.1 or 5.1 speaker sets with woofers and subwoofers so. built in speaker would be absolutely amazing. Now here's what I've found so far: 1). Can't decide whether I should go for displayport or HDMI. because most monitors come with the HDMI sockets instead of the display port. So, let me know on that and. 2). 60.96cm(24) FHD monitor with the Touch of Color - S24D390HL - now that's a machine i was hoping for. but wanted to know about the performance and if you guys suggest me anything newer or better than this one right here and the benefits and well basically as much true info as i can get. OH and to be fair at this, I'm currently at india, so as you can understand available products would be greatful.! but international products welcome too. I could manage to import them you know. What do you guys think I should do? Suggestions always welcome. and of course you could be a little sarcastic as well as long as you keep it separate from the actual answer in the reply so i dont be all sheldon cooper like and jumble both items and end up with a cataclysm. Thanks guys your the best.~!

After days and days, Youtube video after Youtube video, researching about CPUs, GPUs, how much ram I should get. What the fuck is overclocking? (I know. I was a filthy peasant.) I've come to a conclusion. This is the pc I'm getting: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LGyMgs It'll be used for generic gaming, MMOs, FPS games on med - high settings, movies, etc. Before making this purchase I just wanted to ask you guys, what do you think about this build? Thanks - Dolan

Hi there, i am new to the forum. I am planning a new wooden case build for next summer, and i am currently in the proces of designing the case. I have been drawing for a couple of weeks now and i am now at a point at which I would realy like to hear some feedback from other people. The idea was to build a pc with a small footprint (12 cm in this case) and with an atx mobo and full length GPu's. All the exterior panels are removable and can be exchanged for other panels when I want another look. Under the top, front and bottom panels there will be RGB lighting. The inside wil also have RGB lighting. Cooling is done by 7 80mm fans pulling air out of the case. This wil cause negative air pressure so air will be pulled in through the filtered side panel. Any questions? Post a message. Please do not comment on my English, it is not my native language. Here are some screenshots: (see other pages of this thread for updates on the design) Link to gallery: http://linustechtips.com/main/gallery/album/2837-planned-summer-build/

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1QKwyFJ Amazon: http://geni.us/1KnJ Is this gaming vest from Kor-FX the best way to feel like you're actually getting shot while gaming? Or is it a decent first effort, but a bit of a gimmick for now...

Hey everyone, Here's a question, which I might be way overthinking, but would like your help with. I decided to transition from OBS to Xsplit, but while testing with local recordings I have come up with an issue which is driving me crazy. When recording, Xsplit will record the audio, which is what I want, but it will also live output it, so I hear it twice, which is very off putting. I tried muting Xsplit through the Windows Sound Mixer, but that muted Xsplit capturing game audio all together. What I am trying to say is, I want Xsplit to capture my microphone and game audio, but not "monitor" the audio. How does one do this? It is probably very simple, but is driving me mad. Please help. Thanks.

Hi guys, I recently acquired an old pair of Motolrola S805 Blueooth Headphones that I am planning on using until I get a nicer pair of headphones in a few months. Problem is, I get a quite loud hum in the background while using them, even when close to my iPhone 5 or M8. It seems like some kind of interference. I don't believe it is a problem with the headphones, as they have good reviews on Amazon with no mention of this. I was just wondering if there was any way to cut down on interference without getting rid of my WiFi or Wireless Landline, etc.

I am building a budget sort of PC that will start me off for PC gaming. I play mostly FPS games like Borderlands and BF4. I plan to upgrade it in the future. The thing is, I am from the Middle East, and don't really have a store offering decent prices like in the US. I would greatly appreciate any advice on my build. Also, if possible, save up by opting for some cheaper options. Assuming that the prices are proportional. PC part picker is kinda useless for me unfortunately, but here is the link for my part list that I made. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BRxtyc Thank you~ Processor Intel Core i3-4130 Graphics card Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-X OC RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 Kit PSU XFX Core Edition Pro 550 Watt Case Cooler Master N200 Storage Samsung SSD 850 EVO Basic 250gb Motherboard MSI Z87M-G43 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 Monitor Acer G226HQLBbd

Hi everyone not sure if you're going to see this,but... My name is Erick and I'm from Brazil. I've been following linustechtips on youtube for a while and it helps me a lot, specially the game fps tests and Benchmarks videos. Great job... Thanks for that! This is a feedback/request post. I really belive you should make a video explaining in details WHAT MAKES A GRAPHIC CARD BETTER THAN ANOTHER... since some of your work is to review and test these cards, people out there don't really understant, for instance, why a r7 240 4GB sucks compared to a r7 260x with "only" 2GB in BF4 1900x1080 medium settings. I still have unsolved issues in some subjects and I strongly belive that a more detailed, explanatory video or series of videos, would save time/energy to those who, like me can't find much reliable information particularly in my native language (unfortunately most of the informations we got are from dubios sources like game foruns and things like that). I'm not a video maker but I guess it must be insanely hard to writing, editing, recording, time consuming and all the process of making such a thing, but this is firstly a request and secondly an idea of something really helpfull to your subscribers. Thanks again guys. p.s.¹ I'm sorry about the english mistakes (I don't have many chances to practice english where I live). p.s.² if it's not possible to make it happend, I would appreciate suggestions on any material, book, article that could lead me to a solid concept.

So I have done some looking into and have created my next computer build, ITX form factor as i go to lans a lot. Im just looking for community feedback and if there are things i could perhaps cut down on or take other routes with. Case: Corsair Graphite Series CC-9011061-WW Black Steel / Plastic Mini-ITX 380T Portable Mini ITX Case Motherboard: ASRock B85M-ITX LGA 1150 Intel B85 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CML16GX3M2A1600C10R GPU: ASUS STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600 BX80646I54460 PSU: Antec TruePower Classic series TP-650C 650W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Power Supply Storage: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5" 500GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) The storage is perfect for me as far as size. I'm currently only using around 200gb of storage with games like league of legends, GW2, SC2, and my steam library, so 500gb ssd seemed like a good fit to grow into. I also already have a good monitor and other peripherals. Finally all of the pieces are from newegg, so if there are other offers elsewhere id love to know too. In all its $1,280

After making my purchase, I figured it would be a good idea to give some feedback on the general @MayflowerElectronics navigation and purchase experience. While it was easy enough for me to find a product I was looking for, the amplifier and DAC look similar. It might help to denote in red or something amplifier standalone or DAC standalone in the product picture. Also, unless the potential buyer is looking at the original Objective 2/ODAC, there is no product specification sheet otherwise. The only available specification sheet (picture) is super small. Lastly, there is no built-in navigation for an account page. It would be really cool if people could have the option to create an account with their pertinent shipping and billing information (maybe a 'My Account' drop-down button on the top right of every page). Giving the option to create an account during the initial purchase (without the option for choosing a username) was a bit weird. In conclusion, I hope this information helps with future iterations of the website.

I think LinusTechTips should have an app. a lot of people are asking questions on this website because their PC's are not working and they need help so they are on their phone (like me) and the phone experience is pretty bad. Its slow and I end up using the 'full' feature at the bottom of the page because the phone web page is god aweful. There's an unnoficial version on android (not sure about apple) and I think Linus could use this as a start because it has potential but right now it doesn't quite work. What do we think?

Feedback on my diagnostic procedure
Royal Vengeance posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I am currently troubleshooting my co-worker's old Compaq (HP) Presario CQ5320F. First I asked a few questions like did you try turning it on and off (I know right ?), if it "Beeped" (POST) or outputs to the display and nothing. So he brought it to work and I took the official name and details from the box, then went on the Compaq (HP) support page and printed all the specs (Surprisingly detailed) from it to see what kind of hardware I was going to deal with, an Athlon II X2 240 CPU and an ancient Pegatron M2N68-LA board powered by a beastly generic 250W peak PSU basically. Back to my place I did some tests with it and when the power button is pushed , the front I/O illuminates but nothing on the display, no POST, no beeps. A brick. So I took the side panel off and boy there was like 3 inches of dust at the bottom of the case , which is exactly where the CPU sits on the board. I tried booting it again to observe if the CPU fan was even spinning , it did not. So in comes the vacuum cleaner and canned air combo. The heatsink was packed solid with dust and the fan was not even moving by hand. Once all cleaned up the CPU fan started working again but the bearing was obviously shot. I really believed the CPU was fried at that point. I also did not trust the PSU , since it's garbage and it's usually the first one to kick the bucket on these things, so I hooked my Corsair RM 750 on it (24-pin + CPU) and no change, still a brick. I swapped the RAM sticks (1GB+2GB woot woot) just to be sure , even if I did not have error code from the buzzer, they were fine in my system. I removed the heatsink on the Athlon and saw the paste literally cooked solid on the chip, I cleaned it (Alcohol+Coffee filter) and applied some Noctua thermal paste and slapped a FX-8350 stock cooler on it just to see if it could bring it back to life. Nothing, still a brick with a nice cooler, a fan that doesn't rattle and new paste. Then I took the Athlon out of the compaq and slapped it in my system,my EVO R2.0 board having an AM3/AM3+ socket. Nothing , a much nicer brick , with the "CPU LED" lit up. Fortunately , I do own another Athlon (X2 250) and it did not work in the Compaq , but did work in the EVO, I even swapped the Compaq board in my system with my RAM, PSU and GPU and nothing with either CPUs. I'm pretty sure the Athlon is shot and the Compaq board as well , since the CPU does not work at all in the Compaq nor the EVO, and the replacement Athlon works in the EVO but not in the Compaq board. Called him to say he needs a board and a CPU. Good call? Sorry if spelling/syntax is messed up , french is my first language. -
Hi, before I actually ask for your help, lemme give you some back story on the issue: For the past few month I've been trying to make a move on my local church for them to help me build them a pc for their "service presentations" at the time being, we only just use Powerpoint presentations and Windows media for an occasional video on my own laptop over VGA. its not bad.... tho its not the best. After some time talking with the Pastor and the committee, they gave me a thumbs up if its something not really that expensive (even tho they've used $1-3G's in audio equipment in the past) so I've come along with two possible setups for them for the next 5 to even more years since its not really gonna be used for other things other than mild web browsing and some multitasking stuff. the two I have on mind are this: $500-600 ish setup: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Drummerforlife/saved/#view=Ddwp99 and this $450-500 setup http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Drummerforlife/saved/#view=B6jhP6 now here's the ideal of what I wanted to run. obviously on one side I have a proyector, which I'll try to run at 720p or 1080p, whichever is most soothing. and the main monitor which I dont have a goal (nothing above 1080 tbh). I can't think of nothing else at the moment so I'll leave it at that and maybe edit sometime in the future. all tips, suggestions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

So that basic witchcraft on the new MacBook that lets you have a solid piece of aluminum function like a proper trackpad that clicks without having any movement is (ideally) coming to Apples own keyboards. Why? Who knows. A laptop keyboard that has no mechanism can help you shave even more off the thickness (Apple loves them thin things) but in a more serious way, it can probably solve a big problem with thinner keyboards - crappy response. I don't know about you guys, but a lot of laptop keyboards just don't have enough feedback. Having it all controlled through haptic feedback and letting you even configure what response a key gives when you press it? Very cool. Hopefully this escape the typical "we did it for the sake of patenting" and makes it into proper production. http://techcrunch.com/2015/03/19/apple-researching-taptic-feedback-for-keyboards-with-no-physical-keys/

After receiving many complaints on Skype about a "helicopter noise" I have finally decided to seek out a resolution. I am using a Mod Mic 4.0 with an Asus Xonar DG. At random times my microphone will produce these strange noises. The problem is likely not the sound card as I have tested the mic with on board audio and an older creative sound card with the same issue. What could possibly be the problem?
