My old motherboard (ASROCK B550M Steel Legend) died, so I bought the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk. I installed it and assembled everything together. Everything boots up perfectly, but what isn't is the fact that I cannot get into the internet via the cable. The same cable functioned well just few hours ago. Okay, so this computer has never been connected to the internet before with this brand new motherboard, so I shoot up the MAG B550 Tomahawk product page on MSI.com, navigate myself to the "Drivers" tab, pick Windows 10 64-bit, choose LAN Drivers tab, download drivers on my laptop, put them on my USB stick and connect the USB with my computer. I extract the file, run the installer ("Install_Win10_10065_05032023"), and the InstallShield Wizard pops up. I press Next - Install and it stars to install the Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver. It installs and installs, then tells me that Detecting Realtek Ethernet Network Controller and suddenly "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug The Cable". Okay.... that's odd.. I press "Finish" on the InstallShield Wizard. Then I open up Device Manager from Control Panel and under Network Adapters, I only see 8 different WAM Miniport's (IKEv2; IP, IPv6; L2TP, Network Monitor; PPPOE, PPTP, SSTP). Under "Other devices" I see two Ethernet Controllers with the yellow (!) mark. I've watched tons of videos, one video mentioned some kind of killer network ethernet driver, but they're not available on the MSI site anymore, as they used to be previously. So what kind of options do I have left to debug this stupid issue? Thanks for the help!

As the title suggests, all of a sudden my wifi started to give me "Connected, No Internet. Secured" unprovoked. I had changed nothing and done nothing between when it was working and when it broke. After it broke, I proceeded to 1. Reset network settings 2. Update LAN & Wifi drivers 3. Update bios 4. Update chipset but to no avail. These are my specs: Windows 10 Pro ASUS WAVE ROG STRIX B560-E GAMING WIFI B560 11th Gen Intel i5-11400F Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3600MHz Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD with Heatsink 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 SAMSUNG 860 QVO 1TB Kingston SA400S37960G Has anyone encountered this before or have any idea how to help me with this issue?

I first noticed this issue a while ago after first building my new pc. When I turn on the computer the internect connection symbol was displaying "no connection", but after waiting about 10 seconds it was fine. As this is not a major issue I have ignored it and sometimes it is almost connected instantly. However when trying to setup a remote control turn on function using "Wolow" that utilises the "wake on magic packet" ability, it would not work. I followed there guide exactly and all the setting are correct, so thats not the problem. Then I realised that maybe it is the fact that the pc is not getting connection when it is turned off, I am not sure how to check it but I have restarted the computer a few times and every time it takes some time to connect. I am currently running the latest version of windows 11 (2023-04 Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)), with the latest updates for bios etc on armoury crate and latest graphics card drivers and my Pc componets are listed below. If anyone knows how I can reslove this issue would be a great help, thank you very much. I bought this USB-A 3.0 to ethernet adapter, connected it to a USB 3 port, but i'm only getting about 300mbps. It turns out that the adapter negotiated a USB 2.0 connection (as shown by USB Device Tree Viewer) However, if i use the "restart port" feature, it is then recognised as USB 3 as you can see here My laptop has windows 11 fully updated, latest chipset and realtek drivers installed. I tested the adapter on 3 others laptops with windows 11, same damn problem. I tested two others USB-A 3 to ethernet adapter (amazon and asus), same behaviour. Then, I tested the adapter on Windows 10, and it worked as expected! I instantly got a USB 3 link. It seems like this issue is specific to Windows 11., what can i do?

hi everyone, i am trying to wire up a new apartment from scratch with electrical/internet and i was wondering how can i implement the following. i want to have 1 ethernet input in an outlet in the middle of the place, where i can put an ethernet cable from the router -> outlet and have an output ethernet port in every other room reading from that router. how can this possibly be implemented? do i need a server setup, or do i just have fiber running from that input that splits into different branches, 1 leading to each room? and wouldn't that affect the internet speed per room if that was applicable? could use any sort of guidance here, thank you.

Roughly once a month, any device connected to my router through an ethernet connection drops from its normal ~300Mbps down ~100Mbps up to ~8Mbps down ~5Mbps up while maintaining a high connection bandwidth to any device on wifi (~150 down on 5GHz. Which is the same even when ethernet is working correctly). The only way I've found to fix this issue is to reboot the router, which is fine, but id rather not have too as I do host a few things and I'm not always home to be able to reset it when the ethernet drops off a cliff. I find it really strange that ethernet is the connection type that draws the short straw here. So, I guess my question is, is this an issue with the router its self, like a hardware fault or a memory leak? And should I get a different one? Router info for those interested: Model: AC750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router: Archer C2 v1 00000002 Firmware version: 0.9.1 5.0 v0032.0 Build 170207 Rel.49213n Country of origin (since I think this matters?): New Zealand

For the past month now I haven't been able to play any games because whenever try launching a game, my ethernet gets disabled, my Bluetooth icon disappears, and my Wi-Fi stops working. I have reinstalled windows 10 and 11 3-4 times now, and tried installing/updating the ethernet/lan/Bluetooth drivers from the ASUS STRIX B550-F (WIFI) driver site. And they don't work. I checked Reliability something and i found this error: Source Windows Summary Hardware error Date 5/14/2023 10:30 PM Status Not reported Description A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly. Hello all! My computer recently started losing internet connection (kind of) intermittently. I say kind of, because windows still thinks it has internet, and any page that I'm already on doesn't stop working, it just stops loading new pages. At first, I thought it was my built in ethernet port on my motherboard, since I also have issues with some of the usb ports on it, and I think the USB controller on the MB might be going bad because plugging in one device sometimes causes the others to stop working. Since then, I purchased a PCIe ethernet card and the problem is still present. My PC: ASRock x370 Killer SLI/ac Ryzen 1700x NVidia 3080 Founders edition Realtek 2.5g lite PCIe LAN card PCIe USB 3.0 card Windows 10 pro, up to date, recent fresh install Also probably relevant, I use Edge for web browsing. I've tried wiping the cache, doesn't seem to help. Any ideas are appreciated, I'm about to lose my mind and wipe the drive again :D

TL: DR I have a 350GB media archive (.7z file) in my google drive that when I try to download (using Edge) reaches ~30-50GB before saying its a network error and wont restart the download. The average speed was around 10+mbps Ive pinned the tab in Edge so that it doesn't get snoozed, I've turned off efficiency settings and yet iv already restarted the download for the 3rd time I need to get it downloaded back on my system within 48 Hours before my 2TB Drive Free Trial expires. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi all, I need help planning an outdoor run for a UniFi Access point. It is going to be on the side of my deck in the backyard. I am planning on running a direct burial ethernet cable 18" below grade parallel to the 240V power for the hot tub (which will be run inside a PVC conduit) On the side of the house there is a PoE switch which powers PoE cameras that I am planning to pull from. What I am worried about is the possibility of a lightning strike hitting the ethernet cable in the ground. There are not many trees around, but with a hot tub full of water near the access point I figured it could be a possibility. I would run fiber to the access point, but that would mean I would need to put an additional power outlet on the deck to power the converter which would not make much sense since the outlets near the house are only about 30 feet away and because of how expensive wire currently is. The way around this that I thought of is to put an ethernet to fiber converter behind the PoE switch. In essence this is how it would go: Main Switch in Rack ---> Ethernet to Fiber Converter ---> Fiber to Ethernet Converter ---> PoE Switch ---> Direct Burial Ethernet Cable ---> WiFi Access point The Fiber would isolate the outdoor devices from the indoor which would limit the chances of anything in the rack or connected to ethernet from being damaged during a lightning strike. The only problem I see is the Fiber converters would be plugged into the same UPS as the outdoor PoE switch. I am not sure if that defeats the whole point or if that does not matter? Total run is about 125ft long from the orange to the purple in the map. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last night I was playing some war thunder while there was a storm outside. I didn’t know how close the storm was until I decided to stop playing and decided to watch a show instead. I took my headphones off for a couple minutes and lightning struck really close to me. The power went out for a few seconds and then came back. When lightning struck I also heard a little spark coming from my computer but I didn’t see it. The computer was still working since the power button light was still on but the computer was off. it was around 4 am so i decided to call it a night and go to bed. next morning i turn my computer on and everything looks fine. that was until i opened my internet browser and nothing worked. That’s when I saw that I had no internet connection. Apparently some files were damaged or are missing. When I restarted the computer, a message popped up that said “CLiP device license not found”. Also I looked more into the issue and found that in device manager and under network adapters, there are 3 things that are faded that I’m guessing means they don’t work. 1 bluetooth device. 2 RAS async adapter. 3 Realtek PCIe GbE family controller. I looked and apparently number 3 is important for Ethernet connection. I do not have a Wi-Fi antenna so Ethernet is my only option. I can not access the internet to update them or reinstall them. I contacted Microsoft support but nothing helped. They told me to run some commands on command prompt but nothing worked even after restarting the computer several times. This has been the most helpful place to find support. I hope someone can help me

After setting up a router with OPNsense and then digging deep on how to port-forward successfully(for someone who knows very little about port-forwarding), I seem to have found a new problem. Maybe a problem of my firewall within OPNsense, or within my operating system itself (All of my settings within OPNsense are 99% default, outside of port-forwarding). A somewhat random occurrence, if I host a Minecraft server from my main rig, port-forwarded through my now OPNsense router build, I have no problems with my gaming PC/hosting machine, the problem arises when I attempt to play Minecraft at the same time as trying to host the server. Almost immediately after logging on, my internet connection drops. Requiring my to do a full restart of my PC before the ethernet driver and can be turned off and turned back on within Device Manager. I attempt to do a regular restart, my PC will crash for whatever reason is likely causing the ethernet problem to begin with. Also if I attempt to disable and re-enable the driver for ethernet, Device Manager will crash. My PC is completely up-to-date from what I can tell, ASUS ez update claims I have no pending updates, as well as Windows not needing any updates. Not sure really where to go from here. My PC rig isn't really lacking anything as far as my hardware, and I have a 1200MB/s internet connection. For reference, I have a ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E GAMING motherboard, 32GB DDR5 CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB @ 5600MHz RAM, and an Intel i7-12700k @ 3.6 GHz. Which in my opinion should likely be well over the requirements for hosting and playing a Minecraft at the same time. Any suggestions? Any driver updates I'm unaware of? Ways to search that aren't obvious? I'm all ears.

Hello LTT Forums, I have an issue with my networking setup and I can't seem to permanently solve the issue. The issue I face is that my internet will randomly disconnect and no longer have internet access for usually less than a minute. I've had this happen mid-game and while watching YouTube videos at what seems to be random times. For the most part it seems to resolve itself in less than a minute I'd estimate, rarely I'd just reboot the router and it would work fine. The firmware is up to date on the router. Windows Update says the driver for my Realtek LAN is up to date. For my setup, I have my ISP's modem/router combo thing as a modem and in bridge mode. That is then connected to my TP Link AX1800 router and then that connects to my PC via Ethernet. The Ethernet cable that connects my modem to my router is a CAT 8 26AWG from Amazon, and the Ethernet cable that connects my router to my PC is a Linkup CAT 8 cable. A brief speedtest is 11ms, 700mbps down, 100mbps up. I have Shaw 1Gbps.

Hi all, I have been struggling with the ethernet on my computer. I have a CAT 5e cable hooked up to a netgear ex2700 n300 range extender, which says that it is outputting 300mbps within the netgear software. I have a colorful CF A320M K-Pro motherboard, so I have been unable to find any bios updates as I do not speak Chinese. Also, I pay for the gig, which I know I wont get all of with an extender, but I should be hitting that 300mbps at least. I am at a complete loss as to what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently upgraded my internet plan with my ISP and I got a 300Mb/s fiber connection. What I noticed is that my laptop only supports up to 100Mb/s ethernet speeds, so I want to get a USB ethernet adapter to use. The question is: Will a USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter, plugged into a USB 2.0 port on my laptop, be able to support the full speed of my plan?

Ok so I built a new pc I plug in my Ethernet and run a speed test I’m getting 7 mbps up and down I switch to Wi-Fi I got 400-600 up and down. I update my driver change my speed/duplex to 1 gbps and still stuck at 7 mbps on Ethernet mind you the same Ethernet cable on other devices like ps5 gets me 500-700 up and down and I’m missing something any help would be appreciated!

ethernet Internet speed is Gigabit but I'm getting under 100
Youloop posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello, I've had this one issue now for years now where my internet speed is under 100mbps even though I pay for gigabit speed and other devices in my house reach 500-900+. I have fixed this problem before (about 1.5 years earlier) I ended up on going through 2 different ethernet cables that both supported gig speed, they were also not the issue, but early last February when I purchased an nvme m.2 drive and reinstalled my windows os this issue has seem to persist and come back. Even back then when I initially fixed the problem I looked through many, many forums and read up on many sites, and even then it took me months to figure out and finally fix up.. Anyways- I tried every fix messing with control panel settings and aswell as settings in the ethernet status.. Under general it always says the speed is 100.0 Mbps and sometimes I manage to fumble around with some settings and give my computer a restart to where it fixes for a couple minutes where I'm getting good speeds (500+) but then after those said minutes the speed goes back down to 94-95 mbps. This issue has fed me up and at this point I'm even considering buying an ethernet receiver card, which is not a lot, but I still see as a huge waste of money since I know it can work when its fixed properly. The mb is a msi mpg b550 gaming plus I appreciate any responses of possible fixes and tips, if you need to request any information from me just leave a comment under my post and I'll be sure to respond asap. Thanks for the read. -

1000 Mbit is = to 1 Gbps, correct? My motherboard's Ethernet max is 1 gigabit, So if I upgrade my ISP service to 1 Gbps it will never allow those bumps above 1 GB similar to those bumps I get with my 300 Mbps service where it will go to 350 or 400 Mbps sometimes. So what can be done? BTW, to go from 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps will cost $10 more per month.

So I want to set up an ethernet connection to my PC since the WiFi coverage doesn't reach my room and wired is better for gaming. The PC is in my room on the second floor, while the router are in the first floor. Directly plugging ethernet cable was not possible since it's too far. I watch LTT videos on Powerline on Colton's house and that's a perfect solution for my problem. However, My house have two different MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker), one on each floor. So I was wondering if the powerline ethernet would work on my house? and if it does, was there any more restriction if I want to use powerline? (I live in Indonesia and not sure if the wiring specs are the same on the north America houses). I would really appreciate your guys help. Thank you! (Sorry for bad english)
-
So basically I want good priced powerline ethernet kit that can do at least gigabit, as it would be far easier than routing Ethernet all over the house. I ask you because all the technical naming confuses me. In terms of exactly what I need, I need one plug to take signal from router into mains, 2 for Desktops and one more with 2 ports for a Nintendo switch and TV. Also it needs to be available in the UK. Thanks!

Hey Crew, Looking to provide surge protection for my ethernet connection to my computer/devices. Does a network switch like the NETGEAR GS305 provide surge protection for the CAT cable itself? If not, what's the best solution for this? Please note, I have little space and less money. Thanks!

I’m at a loss, I have gigabit internet that works great on everything except my Desktop RYZEN 7 5800X3D ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO WI-FI MB Windows 11 When I run speed test it starts out fast 200Mbps for a Second then drops down to 20 the 15Mbps and finshes Finishes 15-18Mbps thats on Wi-Fi and with Ethernet (I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers with no luck) So I thought maybe it’s the internal Wi-Fi and Ethernet on MB so I installed a new Wi-Fi 6e adapter i disconnected internal Wi-Fi and installed new PCIe adapter and still same results. Not sure where to go from here I’m stumped
