Hello! I'm running into the same thing lately.. When I am using my pc, my screen suddenly shuts off. The computer itself keeps providing power to all attached devices (keyboard, mouse, USB drives light up), but is unresponsive. Also, I've observed that sound doesn't stop playing immediately. When the screen goes black, whatever I'm listening to (ex Spotify), doesn't shut off, instead 10secs later it lags and freezes. Could it be a GPU problem? I cannot find any memory dumps, so I assume that this is not a BSOD. Any ideas? So I have just built my new rig, and all was going well, played a bit of anthem, got my RGB all sorted, windows was playing nice with a new hardware, and then black screen. Like my monitor had just died. Pc still running, but then all the RGB went back to default. Did a hard reset, everything turned on, then off... Then on again and then Windows booted fine. Logged in fine, RGB went back to the settings I had set up, then this time after 2 minutes top, black screen. So I reinstalled windows, thinking it must have been that moving from a intel machine to amd with what I thought was no fuss. Windows installed fine, left pc and went to work. Came home pc still running and back on windows log in screen. So I start downloading bits like Nvidia experience, battlement chrome to name a few, install some and then after about 45 minutes, back screen again. Does anyone have any ideas? Not done any overclocking, temps were all fine, but I need a starting point to troubleshoot. My build is here. https://builds.gg/builds/anthem-ryzen-7739

Hello All, I have been recently having black screen technical difficulties, specifically when I launch any kind of game. It makes my monitor say no signal, and the fans start to whirr very loudly, and then it turns back on in a minute or so. I have never had this issue before, and am inexperienced when it comes to how to fix these simple problems. I would gladly appreciate a veteran helping me out in picking new hardware or fixing this issue. I bought myself a new 144Hz monitor from Acer. I connected to an extension block which I have my other monitor running on too and it turns on fine but it won't detect the pc. I've gone to the settings and tried detecting the monitor and it couldn't. I've also looked up the drivers in Geforce Experience and it shows that I have the latest version of drivers. I've got my old monitor (one I'm using now) with HDMI and my new one with Display Port. please help fix this

Hey everyone this is my first post here but this place is great, I've gotten help by reading these forums many times before. The problem I've been having with my computer started three or so months back, it seemed to go away for weeks at a time, but now it's really bugging me since it's preventing me from playing any games and the instability can cause work loss. I get some random and some crashes where I can reliably expect them both when stressed and when not stressed. I've reformatted windows, tried different drivers, used different memory slots and speeds, and unplugged all unnecessary peripherals (only mouse,keyboard,dp-video,power). Took a day and ran memtest86 on all modules one at a time in slot a2 at 3200mhz with no errors on any module. I repeated the test in dual channel with slots a2 and b2 with no errors as well. The problems start when testing any combination involving slots a1 and b1 with errors showing up right away at 2800mhz and higher. The only other parts I can potentially test are another GPU (R9 270) and a different PSU (500W) although since those parts are so different I'm not sure testing with them will help. The problems manifested in either random blue screens (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, and nvidia driver error one time) or black screens where video just cuts out but the computer is still on with audio playback, hardware lights and fans spinning (gpu spins full speed). I logged everything using hwinfo64 when I expected a crash during a stress test (heaven benchmark reliably causes black screen < 2min) and I saw that the pci-e slot seems to stop working or something (showing 0x pci-e speed). I already RMA'd my first GPU due to artifacting thinking it was failing but there was no improvement, in fact I think it got worse. The memory failures even though each module is individually good combined with the GPU slot issues makes me think the problem is the motherboard, but a few other possibilities are bouncing around and just wondering what kind of ideas you all might have. Any help figuring out what it is that I should send in next is greatly appreciated. system info: Asrock B450M Pro4 AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @ stock speed Team Group 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3200mhz, B-Die (tested @ 2400mhz w/crashing also) EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 8GB Windows 10 Pro Samsung 970 Pro M.2 (os ssd) EVGA 750W P2

Type: Desktop **GPU**: No **CPU**: Ryzen 3 2200g with integrated Vega Graphics. **Motherboard**: MSI A320m pro vd/s v2 **RAM**: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400mhz 4gb ×2 **Operating System Version**: Windows 10 Pro 1903. Hello, I get that notification in the notification center and I get a black/blue screen every time I click on the start button or anything windows related, but the processes still run (say I was watching a film, and I can still hear the music even after black screen). I get the display back after I press win+ctrl+shift+B, what it apparently does is reset the graphic drivers, but the black or blue screen occurs again after a second and is super fucking annoying. I tried installing all the drivers version (Vega 8), the problem remains the same. When I use an Application like a game that is barely resource intensive, it gets stuck and says, "TDR error, atikmdag.sys and restarts". And, when it does that and I login to win10 and check the notif center I see that both the Application and the Windows operating system itself was apparently blocked access to Graphics hardware. I must mention that my PC is new, I have memtested the rams, scanned the system, reinstalled win 10 thrice (once with internet). I am using the processor graphics itself so there must be no problem with the hardware. I don't get that error in safemode or if I uninstall the drivers, but don't tell me that it's probably because of wrong drivers coz I had a ticket regarding this issue with AMD and they sent me a couple of links to the drivers. No overclocking. Tried disabling global cstate option, increasing soc voltage, increased the tdr delay to 8 but that causes video scheduler internal error. The random black or white screen (depending on the windows app's color I was using) which goes away after pressing win+shift+b+ctrl. Please help me.

Hey, so I had some problems with my machine lately, not posting and stuff but I fixed that. I just installed new windows cause I thought there was something wrong with the old one, now every time I restart the PC after the windows logo and loading and all, the screen goes black then the mouse and keyboard get disconnected, their lights turn off, I'm not sure if this issue is caused by windows or what's the cause of this. Specs: i5 3570k no OC. Asus p8z77-v. 2x8 16GB HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz (but I removed one stick cause the system wouldn't post with it). Asus GTX 1050Ti 4GB Cerberus no OC. Kingston A400 240GB SSD 2TB WD Blue 5400RPM Edit: I removed the GPU and it booted correctly this time

Hi guys, I've been having 1 or 2 second black screens while gaming for a few months now and this has been driving me insane. Essentially the screen randomly flashes black while I'm gaming (or if I have a game open in the background) and in most cases, I often hear a USB/device disconnect sound (not always) when this happens. This is momentary and the picture comes back within 1 or 2 seconds max and I can continue where I left off. I've been searching for answers and have checked a number of things which I'll share below along with my specs. The issue seems to happen mostly with games like Sekiro, Call of Duty (MW) and GTA V. It doesn't happen as often with less intensive games like World of Warcraft, but I have had a few flickers with WoW too. I play in 1440p, refresh rate of monitor is 60Hz. Temperatures while gaming with max/high settings on CoD are around 50-60C CPU, 70-76C GPU with ~75-95% GPU use in game. One thing I recently noticed is that when the screen flashes black momentarily, CPU use spikes to 100% each and every time, feels like that should be a useful hint as to the root cause of the issue but I can't pin it down. Apart from that, CPU usage typically varies from 50-80% with CoD. Ram usage around 65-75% most of the time. Important to note the issue only seems to occur while gaming or when I have a game in the background. Cinebench doesn't seem to cause the flickering, but it does occur with Heaven. Specs: Mobo: MSI B450M Mortar CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (not OC'd) GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Super Ventus OC 8GB GDDR6 RAM: HyperX Predator DDR4 3200MHz CL16 16GB Kit (2x8GB) - XMP Profile 1 PSU: Corsair RM 850 W 80+ Gold Fully Modular ATX PSU Storage: WD SN750 1TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink OS: Windows 10 64-bit What I've Tried So Far - Checking all cables, ensuring GPU is seated properly - Running games on all settings from lowest to the highest, as well as trying 1080p again from lowest to highest settings - Running games in windowed & other modes. - Playing around with various settings including VSync, MSAA, FXAA, DirectX Raytracing etc - Running games without MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, Avast, Chrome etc in the background - Checking Event Viewer for errors etc (none found) - Updating, clearing & reinstalling graphics drivers multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling related software such as NVIDIA Control Panel & GeForce Experience - Running games with and without NVIDIA GeForce Experience optimal settings and testing with NVIDIA Control Panel Quality, Balanced and Performance settings - Trying Ryzen Balanced, High Performance plans as well as Windows' Balanced & High Performance plans - Updating BIOS - Testing memory & CHKDSK - Turning off power saving type features in Windows & BIOS For context, there are a number of apps in the background that may or may not be relevant here, including Logitech G Hub, NZXT's CAM Software (RGB + Fan Control), RivaTuner, MSI Afterburner. AIDA 64 & NVIDIA Control Panel. I've probably tried a number of other things too but those listed above are the most important ones off the top of my head. If I've missed anything let me know, I'll be happy to provide more info if needed. If you have any idea what might be going on and how I can resolve this, I'd really appreciate your help Cheers in advance

I am having trouble playing some youtube videos when I am using a chrome browser. Sometimes, when I click a youtube video, the whole chrome browser will turn black and the audio will keep playing. I can still interact with the page, and go back, but the screen is black. I opened up the same videos on edge and they worked. Does anyone know what would be causing this? Again, it is the whole browser window that turns back, not just the video. PC Specs: R5 3600 Radeon 5700 Windows 10

Hi, Some time ago, motherboard M5A97 EVO R2.0 broke for my brother. As it worked great and so long, we decided to order same motherboard. Computer with new motherboard worked for about 1-1.5 week. Yesterday, computer turn off itself(computer wasn't stressed, just WIN7 on desktop without any work). After rerun, computer hangs on black screen, sometimes appears "_". We tried to reset BIOS(taking off battery CMOS for ~2-3mins and by jumpers (Clear RTC) following by manual), tried to flash BIOS(motherboard allows to do it without running computer) with newest BIOS version and older one. Flashing finished successfully, but it didn't help. With previous motherboard, computer hanged and after restart showing different errors(sometimes RAM, PCIe and sometiems CPU). And when computer turned on, it hanging after ~1-4mins, even in BIOS. In both situations, I checked own CPU,GPU and RAM. In both cases, effect was same. Brother's hardware - power supply, CPU,GPU and RAM - I checked on own motherboard(ASROCK 970 PRO3 R2.0). I did Memtest tests, CPU stressing, GPU stressing and CPU+GPU stressing. Everything was fine. All tests took about 4 hours. Even with my CPU cooling, which is too weak for brother's CPU, I didn't notice any errors(except throttling). Questions: 1. Is any possible to fix issue?(new motherboard, maybe we did something wrong). 2. Has someone idea for any other diagnostics? 3. If cannot be fixed, what could makes this issue? Broken motherboard or something other? Specifications: Motherboard: M5A97 EVO R2.0 CPU: AMD FX 8350 GPU: [I need to check, when I back to home, but 100% is RADEON, needs 6+8 pins power] RAM: 4x HYPERX 1866 16GB [I need to confirm when back to home, 1866 or 1600) power supply Corsair 750W EDIT: It seems like POST finishing ok or hanging after checking GPU. PS. Of course, computer was deassemled, ony CPU, GPU i RAM and power supply are plugged. PS2: for now, we haven't BIOS speech, so no beeps PS3: Sorry for any of English errors. I'm not using English daily.

My system: (Brand new): Monitor: Acer Nitro XV272UP Motherboard: Asus TUF x570 plus with Wi Fi updated to newest bios 1.2 CPU: Ryzen 3700X GPU: Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT PSU: Corsair RMx 650 W Windows 10 (up to date) The Problem: So this happens completely randomly (mostly while I'm in desktop) my screen goes black and my PC is still running but unresponsive. After like half a minute I can start hearing my clicks or apps but the screen remains black. After the initial black screen everything freezes but after a while the PC resumes (at least the audio and the controls) but the monitor has no signal. This hasn't happened once while I was gaming, only when I'm idle, browsing or watching something. I have no idea what I have to do to cause this freeze on purpose, it's totally random. What I've tried: Updating all drivers to recommended versions (including bios). Had no effect at all. Stress testing CPU and GPU - everything is fine, the noise and the temps are normal. I used furmark and prime95 Unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in Turning sleep mode off and on. This had no effect. The PC and monitor both wake up normally from sleep mode It's really frustrating that this is happening like 2 days after I've built my PC. I don't even know where to start looking for the cause of this problem. Are there any logs or diagnostics tools that I might run to find the root of this thing? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. UPDATE 1 I am looking at my event viewer and trying to find crash logs. I'm not sure which ones I should be looking at because I didn't look at the time when the crashes happened but I believe that the crash log stating "Faulting application name: LightingService.exe, version: 0.0.0.0" is repeating itself around the same time when I get these black screens. Next time I experience a crash I will immediately go to the event viewer.

Hello Everyone! I'm working on an Android game with Unity since 5 months, i'm a software developer, so my hardware knowledge is barely nothing. Unfortunetly i have a strange issue with my old entry level HP laptop. The device was running perfectly, i'm unplugged the charging cable and leaved the laptop (with the battery inside) at home. After i come back, the screen was blank, and the device wont respond. Even after a restart. I guess something went wrong during the hibernation process. The screen always remains black, the WIRELESS button emitts orange light continuously, and the Caps lock button just no lights at all (like in the other cases i found on the internet). I tried a lot of things: - Swap the two 4GB dual channel RAMs. (Not original of course) - Place back the old RAMs (Not original neither, i buyed this machine in used condition) - Start the machine with just one RAM - Unplug the HDD - Unplug the WIFI card - Hard resetting when the battery and the power adapter unplugged with pressing the POWER button for 15-20 secs. - Press the FN+F4 for display select. - Charge the battery to 100% (as suggested in a YT video) All of this things failed, my device still wont start, and i'm didn't find any light emission error code like this. Machine: HP G62-b50SH Current memory: 2x4GB SK Hynix 2Rx8 PC3L Old memories: 2GB Adata 2Rx8 PC3, 2GB Kingston 1Rx8 PC3 Hard drive: an old crappy WD 160GB from 2009 Battery is also replaced with a new remanufactured one. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I'm written this problem to the HP forum, but i dont got any replies. Please deeply honored LTT community, help me! :(

so recently i have upgraded my GPU from a 1070 (Asus OC-edition) to a 2080 SUPER (Asus OC-edition). but whilst i was playing some graphical games (not the most demanding or anything) i have had multiple times that my display output just stops. the only way i've found to regain display output is to shut down the pc by cutting the power and rebooting, because it seems to think that windows is still running as normal. i have already reinstalled all VGA drivers and GPU Tweak II. though there is another odd thing that GPU Tweak has. whenever i minimize the software, it just crashes. no longer being able to bring up the control panel or anything related to GPU Tweak. so then i have to use task manager to force exit the program, and then start it up again, only to get the control panel up. this behavior is just weird, and definitely not supposed to happen. so if anyone might have the slightest clue on how to fix this i'd be very grateful

Good evening to everyone who will read that topic, Well my laptop has a HUGE problem (on a scale of 1 to 10... that's 11). When I play a game named Stormworks with Spotify streaming in the background (window opened, coz I have two screens), my laptop just shuts completely off with a black screen, no blue screen, and no option but to start it again manually (pushing the power button, obvious). However I asked the Discord of the game community and no one have ever had the same issue as I had. So it's coming from something else. I searched on the internet but every website just repeat the same as I scroll through them : - thermal problems, but I already changed the thermal paste to a new one (my laptop is from 2015) ; - memory problems, I upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 12GB recently but it was ultra stable until a few days ; - power supply overheat, it was a little hot but not burning as hell. Then I have another problem (and I think it is linked or the source from the previous one), when I shut my laptop down, my computer just beeps with a ultra-high-pitched very-low-volume sound (I have to stick my ear on the chassis) [when battery is unplugged there is no sound]. I disassembled my laptop trying to search the source of this sound and it seems that's coming from the motherboard but not close to the CPU nor the GPU. So well right now I'm trying things like playing with Spotify and HWMonitor to take a look at the temperature but my CPU doesn't hit the 100°C degrees maximum operating temperature (it hits in fact only 96°C without the black screen crash). So now I don't know what's going on. Hope someone could help me troubleshoot and solve this mystery from my laptop, all my specifications are in my profile description. Please, help me!

Hello, i'm new here, i'm having some issues using my new laptop wich arrived 2days ago, the ASUS FX505GD-BQ115T. When using the laptop, it freezes randomly, the screen goes black and the pripherals stops recieving power. I checked the web for any fix and tried several things but nothing seems to work. i reisntalled windows 10, did the upgrades, installed all drivers (asus included), but it keeps freezing randomly forcing me to restart. that's the first problem. The second problem is that i can't choose the gtx 1050 for my display, i can't have 120hz on screen even if the laptop is supposed to be capable of. Please help me out, i saw multiple people around the web who's kinda upset of the asus support when using their warranty. it crashed while writing this down.

Hi all! I just bought a used RX 480 4GB (Sapphire Nitro, not Nitro+). I installed it last Sunday by doing this: I downloaded the latest RX 480 drivers from AMD's site, rebooted into safe mode, used DDU to uninstall all graphics drivers, shut down PC, replaced my GTX 750 TI with the RX 480 and connected my PSU's 6+2 pin PCIE connector. So I booted up my PC, everything was working great with no problems, I did some web browsing and a couple of Dota 2 games. I don't have direct access on my PC right now since I'm only home on weekends. My brother uses it on weekdays though, mostly just browsing, web development and Dota 2. So my brother told me that this Monday and Tuesday, the PC had no issues, but just this Wednesday, it had random black screens (literally, NOT "No Signal" black screens) that lasts for a second. It occurred about 5 times while playing Dota 2, and a few more afterwards while doing web development. He shut the PC down but later that night, when he played Dota 2 again, black screens occurred again about 5 times. Specs: Motherboard: Asrock H61M-DGS rev 2.0 CPU: Intel i5 3470 Memory: 8GB DDR3 PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE 530W GPU: Sapphire Nitro RX 480 4GB (was Palit GTX 750 TI) OS: Windows 10 x64 Some background on where I got the gpu from: A shop that sells used parts from Korea. I had the gpu shipped to me, they gave a 1 month warranty, so it can be replaced if proven faulty. It makes me wonder though why they were selling Sapphire Nitro for RX 480, and not Nitro+. I searched the net for Sapphire RX 480, and very rarely does Nitro (non plus) come up, at this point I'm starting to suspect that the gpus they are selling have been used in mining. I found out though, that the random black screens have been an issue with AMD gpus these past few years, so maybe the gpu I got isn't faulty after all and that my issue is maybe just the same as everyone else's. Still, I'm not really sure how to diagnose the real problem, I mean how do I tell if it's because of the gpu being faulty, something software related (drivers, win10), or something else entirely. Would a stress test like Furmark help determine if its a hardware issue? I can only list down things to do before I get home on Sunday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

And there are like 100x of warnings: "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR4 during a paging operation." What I've tried: Updating all drivers to recommended versions (including bios). Had no effect at all. Stress testing CPU and GPU - everything is fine, the noise and the temps are normal. I used furmark and prime95 Unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in. I want to note that my monitor came with only 1 HDMI cable and my graphics card has only one slot that supports "that" type of a HDMI cable. So basically I couldn't connect anything wrong cause there is only one way of doing it Turning sleep mode off and on. This had no effect. The PC and the monitor both wake up normally from sleep mode It's really frustrating that this is happening like 3 days after I've built my PC. I don't even know where to start looking for the cause of this problem. How can I fix my drivers when they are up to date? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a msi RTX 2070 super gaming x trio I have tried this GPU with my previous motherboard x99 with a i7 5820k CPU and it did the same thing. I now have a brand new x570 asus prime motherboard with a ryzen 5 3600x with watercooler. Every time i start a game, after about 2 mins my screen goes black, disconnects, and all the fans in my system go max speed intill i power down the computer. I am pretty sure this is a GPU problem. I have messed with the afterburner for sometime, at some point it works on other games and then it doesn't. I can not boost the power limit more than 111% or temp more than 88C on afterburner, i tried to underclock the GPU and i tried to also boost the Voltage at stock Memory and Core settings, and it still crashes. At first when i kinda fixed it on my last computer i was boosted the power limit and then the power limit wouldn't be reached, YES THIS GPU REACHES THE POWER LIMIT ON STOCK SETTINGS. I have no idea why, but it does. This GPU requires an extra 4 pin connect FYI. It does the same thing on stock settings, its why i decided to try afterburner hoping it would fix the problem. I know these parts are only 4 months old, so i cant find any support on this. I can not play Call of Duty Currently. Would this be a pcu problem? I have an EVGA 850 Wattz Sometimes it goes a black screen and the sound and even my discord chat still works, when i can still talk to people. Othertimes, my fans go to max speed and the screen eother freezes or goes black. Even when i turn off my computer, my monitor still displays my frozen screen.

Hi guys, just put a new pc together. Some of the parts are bought 2nd hand. When I went to start it up, everything seems to work fine. Motherboard and gpus power lights up, I started it and fans starting spinning but the gpu ones stopped after a shor time. Then nothing else happens, cpu fan keeps spinning and all seems good. But I get no display. Its just black. I tried moving the ram, switching graphics card and removed/replaced CMOS battery. Specs: Asus Prime B350-PLUS Ryzen 1500X Corsair Veangance 4GB Stick (2666Mhz) for testing WD Blue 500GB SSD m.2 And I tried with a GTX 960 4GB and a 1070 8GB.. Please help! Thanks

Please help. I just built a brand new PC, everything was successful down to installing windows and updating drivers, etc. I then decided to update the BIOS on my Aorus X570 Elite MOBO via a USB drive (also windows install media drive) and the UEFI Q-Flash feature. Everything went fine with the install up to 100% and reboot countdown, no power off or touching of anything. System rebooted to nothing but a black computer screen and constantly ramping CPU fan. I tried plugging my HDMI cable into the MOBO instead of GPU but no picture. I also pressed the restart and power button to no effect. Finally I held the power button down and shut off the system. My system specs are on this pcpartpicker list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Lt_Skunky_Jr/saved/kxzwhM Monitor is an HP Pavilion 23bw I have not yet powered the system back on. EDIT: I turned the system back on, nothing seems to have changed.

So I just got a new PC and tried to connect my 2 monitors to it. If I have 1 monitor connected, it works fine, but when i connect my second monitor - it works normally for about 30 seconds to a minute, and then the monitors turn off, aswell as my keyboard and mouse (indicated by the LED lights turning off) and im gonna assume everything else connected shuts off too, but the PC itself is still running - i can hear the fans. This is a really unique problem that I couldnt find a solution too anywhere else, so thats why im posting here. The monitors are connected to HDMI ports using adaptors. I'm using a RX 580, a Ryzen 2600 on a B450 Pro4. For more reference, I'll attach a full list of the stuff my PC is using. Really hoping I can find a solution soon, cuz this is giving me grey hairs at this point LOL
