Hello, I am having a problem with one of the USB 3.0 port on the front panel of my CM MasterBox Q300L. If i insert my pendrive, harddisk or wireless dongle, the error "USB DEVICE DESCRIPTOR FAILED" pops up on the device manager. All of the port are working except this one. I tried using USB Device Tree Viewer and this is what i found on the Port 5. =========================== USB Port5 =========================== Connection Status : 0x02 (Device failed enumeration) Port Chain : 1-5 Properties : 0x01 IsUserConnectable : yes PortIsDebugCapable : no PortHasMultiCompanions : no PortConnectorIsTypeC : no ConnectionIndex : 5 CompanionIndex : 0 CompanionHubSymLnk : USB#ROOT_HUB30#5&6d8a327&0&0#{f18a0e88-c30c-11d0-8815-00a0c906bed8} CompanionPortNumber : 2 ======================== USB Device ======================== +++++++++++++++++ Device Information ++++++++++++++++++ Device Description : Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Device ID : USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&31F168A9&0&5 Hardware IDs : USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE Driver KeyName : {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}\0025 (GUID_DEVCLASS_USB) Driver Inf : C:\WINDOWS\inf\usb.inf Legacy BusType : PNPBus Class : USB Class GUID : {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000} (GUID_DEVCLASS_USB) Enumerator : USB Location Info : Port_#0005.Hub_#0001 Manufacturer Info : (Standard USB Host Controller) Capabilities : 0x64 (Removable, SilentInstall, RawDeviceOK) Status : 0x01806400 (DN_HAS_PROBLEM, DN_DISABLEABLE, DN_REMOVABLE, DN_NT_ENUMERATOR, DN_NT_DRIVER) Problem Code : 43 (CM_PROB_FAILED_POST_START) Address : 5 Power State : D3 (supported: D0, D3, wake from D0) ---------------- Connection Information --------------- Connection Index : 0x05 (5) Connection Status : 0x02 (DeviceFailedEnumeration) Current Config Value : 0x00 Device Address : 0x00 (0) Is Hub : 0x00 (no) Device Bus Speed : 0x01 (Full-Speed) Number Of Open Pipes : 0x00 (0 pipes to data endpoints) Data (HexDump) : 05 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 ................ 00 00 00 ... --------------- Connection Information V2 ------------- Connection Index : 0x05 (5) Length : 0x10 (16 bytes) SupportedUsbProtocols : 0x03 Usb110 : 1 (yes) Usb200 : 1 (yes) Usb300 : 0 (no) ReservedMBZ : 0x00 Flags : 0x00 DevIsOpAtSsOrHigher : 0 (Is not operating at SuperSpeed or higher) DevIsSsCapOrHigher : 0 (Is not SuperSpeed capable or higher) DevIsOpAtSsPlusOrHigher : 0 (Is not operating at SuperSpeedPlus or higher) DevIsSsPlusCapOrHigher : 0 (Is not SuperSpeedPlus capable or higher) ReservedMBZ : 0x00 Data (HexDump) : 05 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ ---------------------- Device Descriptor ---------------------- bLength : 0x00 (0 bytes) -------------------- String Descriptors ------------------- String descriptors are not available (because the device has problem code CM_PROB_FAILED_POST_START)

Why do some people say that USB 2.0 peripherals (For example my Fifine K669 USB or the Logitech C920) should ONLY be put into 2.0 ports... This would be an issue for me because I don't have any USB 2.0 ports... But I've noticed my mic sounds good anyway. I would be surprised if I ran into an issue because USB ports are backward compatible, but some people swear there are issues. [Issues with mics are apparently just terrible quality and for webcams, video corruption.] It's really confusing to run into in reviews, etc. Any input? Maybe if someone searches for this question, this thread will help, since when I did, it only brought up articles about how USBs work.

So you see the m.2 to pcie adaptors and their completely bare bone, and you see thunderbolt 3 adaptors in full enclosures, is there any thunderbolt 3 to pcie adaptors that are a just bare bones like the m.2 key m one that was in Linus' most recent video

So I recently got a new usb 3.0 hub from amazon, This One, I started using it and everything was fine until a day later, my peripherals started disconnecting and sometimes reconnecting, sometimes not even coming back on, I found this very annoying because I had a lot of things to plug in but not enough room. I tried plugging in the AC adapter for the Hub for more power to see if that was the issue, but to my luck, there was no success. Please Help. If anyone needs to know my laptop is a Lenovo Y530 (i7 8750H, Gtx 1050ti, 16 Gigs of Ram, Usb 3.0(Tell me if any more information is required))

I am currently putting some files (around 5 GB) on a PNY 256GB 3.0 USB Thumb Drive. I don't know the exact specs on the thumb drive it self, but I am having an issue with the write speeds on it. Throughout the process the thumb drive's write speed will go up to around 80 mb/s one second and the next second it will go down to speeds as low as 5mb/s (or sometimes near or at 0mb/s) and then freeze for a few seconds only to rise back up to 80 mb/s for one second and will repeat the cycle. Could this be a software issue or just bad hardware? The picture attached shows the write speed graph.

Hello, I was wondering why is that my new USB device is somewhat slow compared to other USB 3.0 devices. The first file I transfered to the usb was a 2gb video and the average file transfer was a CONSTANT (110 MB/s) which I deleted afterwards. After the first video file now all files behave in like a wave like transfer speed that I will show in an image. My pc specs are the following- Gigabyte GA-Z97-SLI I7 4790k Samsung SSD 850 Evo Using motherboard USB 3.0 Connections on the backplate Funny to add that in 1 of the 4 USB 3.0 connectors the speeds are a little bit faster at about 160 MB/s Write and 65 MB/s Read compared to the other 3 ports at 149 MB/s Write and 46~54 MB/s Read using Crystal Disk Mark 6 default settings 4 benchmarks each port The usb device is this one 64GB ADATA UV150 3.2 (which is basically 3.0) -Is this normal? EDIT: Forgot to add my SSD.

Check the video please. Overall speed is not so concerning but why does that happen? Its a brand new usb 3.0 flash drive and the usb port is usb 3.0 as well. All the drivers are up to date. VID_20191004_221427 (convert-video-online.com).mp4

Will a normal USB Male to Female extension cable work with a USB 3.0 device? Will I still be able to get USB 3.0 speed? Or do I need a special cable for it? I have seen some "USB 3.0 Extension Cables" but can't find it at the length that I require (10 meters)...

Hi! I have a new old laptop at home which supports a MXM 3.0 card. (Currently a Quadro FX 2800M which i think is a 3.0b card.) Is there any good place to buy mxm cards or is my best bet someone selling on ebay? Also, what is the best MXM card i can put in this laptop? 200W power chord if that matters.. Specs: Intel Core i7-Q840 Quadro FX 2800M 12GB Ram (Not sure what brand etc)

Hello All, once again I have returned with something that is really perplexing to me. I traded someone my gaming desktop for this MSI Laptop and for the first night I had it, I loved it. Everything worked, With the exception of the headphone jack. But today, All without warning, Both of my USB 3.1 ports have stopped working. But hold on, They stopped working normally, I should say.. When something that is simple, Such as a Wireless mouse receiver is inserted into the computer, The port works fine for that device, With the exception of my Type-C port, Which stopped responding to any device when plugged in. But when you go to plug in something that i would say, requires a bit more from the port, It just straight out dies. Like I have a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 device that I Plugged into the port, and it just doesn't work. I have a Logitech G430 Headset that had the little included DAC, That when plugged into the port, Works, But emits a horrid, Digital noise sounds from the headset, with something that I would say sounds like static and popping (I might attach a recording.) The USB 3.1 Type-C still doesn't respond to any device it is plugged into, Which i verified all the USB-C devices I have work, Because I can plug them into my Galaxy S8 and they work just fine. Thank you all for your time!

Hello, I am having a issue that my laptop has 1 USB 3.0 port but the data transfer comparing to my other USB ports it is the same or sometimes slower. I have a 3.0 USB and also a WD External HDD 1TB (Passport). My HDD in my office PC is way faster comparing to my laptop at home. I ran a speed test using crystalDiskMark 6 anf the results are interesting. I ran 500MiB in USB 2.0 and the result were => Read [MB/s] 38.77 and Write [MB/s] 23.34 I ran 500MiB in USB 3.0 and the result were => Read [MB/s] 33.29 and Write [MB/s] 13.74 (WHAT? ) I ran 1000Mib but the result is the same. Can someone please help me with this issue? Best, Chethiya.

Is there a measurable difference between using PCI-e 2.0 (x16) vs. 3.0 on my RX 580? System Specs: ASRock Z87M OC formula motherboard Intel core I7-4770k (OC to 4.2GHz) 16Gb Dual channel DDR3 memory (800Mhz) XFX RX 580 GTS Black Edition (8Gb memory (2020MHz) / core: 1440MHz)

The known: PCI express 2.0 has a peak speed of 8 GB/s. 2.0 came out in 2007. can handle 1–5 billion transfers per second. each lane can send 500 MB/second. a 32 lane board can transfer 16 GB/second. PCI express 3.0 has a peak speed of 16 GB/s. 3.0 came out in 2010. can handle up to 8 billion transfers per second. each lane can send 985 MB/second. a 32 lane board transfers 31 GB/second. PCI express 3.0 video cards are backwards compatible to PCI express 2.0 slots. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* What are the benchmark results when comparing the same exact video card in a like for like system where 1 motherboard supports PCIe 2.0 and the other motherboard supports PCIe 3.0? Is there a noticeable difference with a 3.0 system in multiplayer online gameplay? Does the 3.0 technology mostly benefit graphics editing? Thanks, Kelso

Does anyone have experience with how much the amount of system RAM effects the performance of Star citizen? My with my current system specs are i7 4770K @ 4.2 GHz, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070Ti, driving a 2560x1080 monitor. Playing arena commander or walking around the hanger, I was getting 60fps on max settings no problem. But in the PU it's in the low to mid 20's sometimes as high as 30 but can dip to 15. Has anyone tried different amounts of RAM in the same system and compared the effect, as I have no idea if the performance is the game's fault or my system running out of memory... 8GB has (nearly) always been enough as long as when I play games I don't keep multiple window's worth of tabs open. And I've wanted to get another 8GB for the past year but prices have been so crazy (its twice as expensive as when I bought it in the first place). I was hoping to hold off for another couple of years till my next CPU upgrade, as that would mean switching to DDR4, I didn't want to waste the money on a little extra DDR3 unless I was sure that was going to make SC run better.

Hi people! I have a slight problem, my 2 TB HDD started acting up whenever plugged into one of my usb 3.0 ports (It works fine with 2.0) Other peripherals work just fine. It always plays the little usb connected sound, then again, and this goes on without the computer actually recognizing my HDD. Any ideas?

Hi there! I am wondering if anybody makes a sort of adaptor or cable that can change an internal usb 3.1 header to a 3.0 so that i would be able to use my front panel io? The motherboard is an Asus z370 ROG Strix E and the case is an NZXT S340 Elite. Thanks!!!

Hello! I'm having issues with my motherboard. When I have my graphics card in the PCI Express 3.0 Slot the computer won't recognize it. It gives me a black screen and the keyboard and mouse doesn't work. But when I changed the GPU to the PCI Express 2.0 port, the keyboard and mouse lit up. So now I'm stuck, what can it be that are causing this problem? And do anyone have an idea on how I can fix it? CPU: Ryzen 5 1600GPU: ASUS 1060 Dual 3GB Motherboard: MSI B350 TomahwakThings I have tested: # Reset the bios# Took out the battery.# Check all cables# Removed all ram. # Changed ram slots. Sidenote: I did put an USB 3.0 card in the PCI 2.0 port before this all started. When I did this the GPU was in the 3.0 slot could this have done anything to the system? Edit: PCI_E4 is Working and the PCI_E2 seems to be dead. The card is only running at X4 but I quess that is normal? Thanks in advance

NZXT Kraken x62 and Hue+. Only one USB 2.0
Hydroxyl posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
Hi guys! I just ordered an NZXT Kraken x62 to replace my Cryorig H7, because it got quite loud lately. Kraken requires an USB 2.0 header to control it's LED's. Anyways, with that, just to add some shine, I also bought NZXT Hue+, which also requires USB 2.0. I only have one USB 2.0 header on motherboard free, but I also have 3.0 one. So now, my question. Can I actually connect one of them to USB 3.0? It's not going to interfere with anything? Is there really a difference?- 11 replies

So it seems my usb 3.0 (inside the motherboard) stop my computer from turning on. I tried taking a video but the file size is too large. Essentially, my PC is running fine, the motherboard is getting power and is lighting up and all. So I shut it all off, and plug in the usb 3.0 on the motherboard. I plug the PC back in, flip on the power, and the motherboard doesn't light up. It isn't getting power, and the PC won't turn on. If I unplug the usb 3.0 after turning off, the PC won't turn on for a few minutes, then starts working fine again. when the PC is on and he USB 3.0 isn't plugged in, all of my front panel USBs don't work, and my Ethernet port doesn't receive any power. The Ethernet port is probably something else, but I can't test it because I can't get the PC on with the cable in.
