Plenty of games support sli. Do the research to find out what games you actually care about. 2 is better then one and there aren't any issues with sli.

Been running sli for almost 10 years. If you play crap games you have crappy issues.

I'm sure it could help quite a bit but I can't bring my self to find out. If I went down that road I would waste about 3 grand. Current titles aren't worth that for me right now. 

Just goes to show how unoptimized the game really is. So as it stands it just isn't enough.

Used the frame limiter in precision. Set it at 100. Think the max the CPU hit was 70%~. Frame time still wasn't like it was awhile ago so at this point I assume the updates played a factor. 

If he isn't smart enough to figure out what games he plays, then I really can't give him advice on what setup to run. Every game I play does and has supported sli for 10 years, so that's where is decision should lie. 

You can spray the whole card won't be an issue. The fan isn't fragile. The fan in a generator, I don't want you frying the header like I have done a few times now. 
 
Dont put a lot of pressure as the bearings don't like that. Just lay a finger on it while you spray. 

Yea I never plan on going back to those days. My current room is most dusty place I've ever lived with a pc. I don't use this one so I put a towel on the case and call it a day.

So on a scale of 1 to triggered how bad are people gonna react to a watercooled backplate? I imagine it gonna be pretty bad as most hate cooling ram.

According to the internet, the 970 is as good as a Titan. So for the one game i currently play, that's means you can get 60+ frames in bf1 on ultra at 1080.

Completely pointless getting a fancy board. The minimum most need are the ability to oc. I waste the money each time and I never use it for more then that. Save money on a board and put it towards the gpu/monitor/peripherals.

Gonna be a forever waiting game. Get something now and regret it when something new and shiny comes out. Or wait for the next thing, then ask this again and everyone will say to wait for the next shiny thing.

Actually I only bought asus boards. They make the best ones.
Bought my maximus used and I quite like it. Software is also much better then the suites on my other boards.
The cpu is still weak as shit but it was a great purchase.
I don't buy products based off customer service as I don't break my stuff and tend to know how to trouble shoot.

Well the my aren't the most drastic improvements. Ran heaven as I don't feel like gaming yet but it runs hotter in bf1 but I have a base line for both. Only ran it for about 15-20 before checking. 
 
First few pics are of the test setup then the bottom card compared to the top card with the active cooling. 

All of my tools were way to aggressive for this delicate operation. Had to grind down the mounts and ended up breakin on. May go to micro center and get a thermospere kit and use the hardware from that.
