  1. HI guys! I'm looking for a new drive for my system, a 1TB that would fit in my little slot on my motherboard...i don't know much at all about these SSD's so i'm requesting help from you guys in the know I need something that will be compatible with my system (Asus Z370-E Gaming) it will be used to store games...i have multiple SSD's already in this machine but nothing in that little slot. Is it worth it to get NVME for that? or should i pocket the 20$ and just get the ''non NVME'' Team drive i saw for 100$? THanks, so which one? (these are canadian pesos that's why it's more expensive)
  2. I'M still using my Rift S, the screens on the Quest 2 are amazing but playing it on a computer is not great.
  3. So here it is new pictures i wrapped the thing and while i was at it i did the front in red to match my computer and all my stuff basically If you guys are on oculus forums or redit and stuff feel free to share the mod i'm not on any of those VR related forums or anything that's why i post this here! Thanks!
  4. yes going back to around i think 2013 nvidia started producing those Gsync modules and monitor manufacturer started producing Gsync monitors...these monitors have a special piece of hardware in them that works with the GPU to tell the monitor when to refresh. Also in the early days of gsync there was some compatible monitors that if you had one of those you could just order the gsync module from nivida and install it in your monitor and get Gsync. It took years for amd to start using freesync, so for a long time nvidia was the only option... And then when they saw that AMD was selling a few more GPU every year because freesync didn't cost a dime although not as perfect as Gsync (especially not at the time, took time for freesync to mature and get really good too) so nvidia allowed freesync support in their drivers and started certifying ''Gsync compatible'' monitors...which is complete BS btw... (not that they allowed freesync support this is a brilliant move, but that they felt the right to start ''certifying Gsync'' monitors when they actually have NOTHING to do with the Gsync tehcnology that they themselves developped years prior, this part is rediculous...AND confusing look at you, you think all monitors are Gsync, when in reality the VAST majority of them out there are NOT )
  5. No...gsync monitors are gsync only....freesync monitor are freesync monitor and since Nvidia now support freesync ( they call it gsync but whatever, it's not) then it means freesync now work with Nvidia...but gsync still don't work with AMD and never will. OP I'm in your situation as well I have a gsync monitor and I ain't replacing it so 3080 would be the logical choice but I'm into high end vr and there is no way I buy a card this powerful with only 10gb of VRAM for my workload it just doesn't make sense many ofmmy stuff already fill my 11gb to capacity...so an AMD with 16gb would be much better...but then, gsync.
  6. Let me guess...you game at 1080p and the card is sitting there with 50% usage and you wonder why it's not boosting?
  7. You're welcome! It does improve sound a fair bit and it's non intrusive...it's light and it's free...someone could 3d print a snap on piece like that and sell it and make a quick buck...it works.
  8. Hey Guys! I've been using my rift S for over a year with only the audio coming from the unit and before i tried buds, wireless buds, wireless headphones etc. and nothing is as good as NOTHING right... But then the audio is very sub par...it's not good enough for example to do sim racing while listening to my favourite music, which is what i like to do most. BUT, tonight i had an !eureka! moment... If you're familiar with the Rift S audio you may have noticed that if you put your hands around your ear to kind of contain the sound there the audio gets MUCH better. Well, here's what i did: i used plastic from an empty cookie box tray and made those very simple pieces here, now i need to find something better than scotch tape to hold them in place I'll probably use some carbon fiber vinyl wrap i have laying around for that and post updated pics later...but it WORKS guys i swear. You can probably make a simple one from cardboard in less than 3 minutes and test it for yourself...as soon as you lift one side you instantly notice. The sound is louder and cleaner, i can now listen to music while driving and it sounds decent, much closer to an actual pair of cheap headphones and i actually lowered my main volume to 90% on the oculus where it used to be at 100% and still lacking. Pics of the mod so you can understand:
  9. If you can get what looks like a good price i would say similar to what a Ryzen 2700X or 3600X cost around you...if you can get 9700 at or near something like that you should get it. If it's noticeably more...then wait...sell your intel combo and get a ryzen 5 newer gen instead and a board.
  10. Me neither I got a gsync monitor so amd is out of questions....but they look bloody good this generation around.
  11. I think by the time they are back in stock you might want an AMD card..
  12. MSI has a software for it called mystic light...you install it and select your options in there and save it and then you never have to worry about it again each time the PC will boot the colors will set to what you want. Good luck!
  13. have you tried removing your capture card and test with just the GPU? Those i have seen create issues in the past...might b worth a shot to clear this as a potential cause for concerns...ideally you would want to try the card in a different system just to confirm there is indeed something wrong with it.
  14. no they've been around for a while but they used to be more expensive than an similar spec TN unit so i would think many people got the TN versions. Also they are amazing so unless i would really NEED the money i won't be selling mine until something better comes out and honestly i've been using this monitor for over 3 years at this point and i bought it because i tought i was gonna do 5 years+ with it and it's gonna happen...that said i would trade it for a similar spec (IPS) ultra wide 3440x1440p any day now seeing how game support for ultra wide is getting better these days....even a 100hz ultrawide would do me better. Monitor is the best purchase so i would recommend you go spend a bit more on a brand new unit that has ALL the features you want. Budget location?
  15. You mean you don't see ANY new X570 motherboards being released along with the processors?!? that is NOT how it should be tho...generally even if it's the same chipset they release a slew of new updated boards to go along.
  16. Some motherboards can be updated with a USB stick and no CPU, but they are not common and usually a feature found only on higher end boards.
  17. welll,,,you're screwed...you're on your own to find a shop to do it for you if they have an older ryzen...or you find a friend or family who has one. later on they will often re-release the same/very similar boards with same chipset but they will add a small word or a letter to the naming of the unit to identify it's from a newer updated batch. (MSI MAX for example.)
  18. just put it in and test it in some benchmarks or games...you should instantly notice an improvement over your old card.?
  19. agree...you might get a free game code or something
  20. 1060 to 1070 is a sweet bump in performance! Should run a lot better now
  21. ok i'm sorry you're right i'll go enjoy my games instead if you don't mind...you're clearly too far gone into this for me Have fun!
  22. you're making stuff up...just go look at your black truck in your screenshot it's rediculous it looks out of place like they did back in PS3 days because the reflections are turned off. Of course the orange sky will reflect on the car, like on the nividia side.
  23. Here is a picture of my car taken just before dusk...see the reflections....? Yes the picture could've been taken an hour later to match the GTA scene but the orange sky and clouds would not DISAPEAR?! right?! I'm pretty sure i'm familiar with how reflections work on a black vehicle in real life being that i drove black cars for half my life and i'm 38...prove me wrong now
