SquaredLogic got a reaction from W-L in Right way to connect potentiometer
Just a little update just bougt pots and connected them by picture 3, it didn' t want to spin fan. Than I tryed picture 1 and it works like a charm.

Yes that would be correct, I don't think they have no polarity so it should work both ways, note it does generate heat since it's basically a variable resistor so just be sure to not over do it on the number of fans.

It depends on if your just doing 3 pin voltage control but this would be the way I've seen it done before:
http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2001/12/10/adding_fan_speed_control/1
Also the yellow line on the 3 pin fan connector doesn't need to be connected to anything you can leave that alone, it's the RPM sense line.

I suspect you're overthinking it. Most fan controllers just use a variable rheostat. (think light dimmer) They don't care what the imput voltage, ampage, and resistance is, they just step it down depending on how far you withdraw the inner coil from the outer coil.

going to the extremes is always going to have an effect. Your input voltage is 5V, your ampage in large part depends on what fans you're using. Yes I could sit down and do the math for you, but it really isn't that hard....And I haven't had to do this form of math for about 2 decades.

you're not very nice, you know that right...Okay assuming a noctua @0.1 amp max. 5V we're talking about 50 Ohm for the circuit. Assuming it's a linear progression for resistance to speed (it probably isn't but I don't know enough of the characteristics) @10% we're talking about 500 ohms. I would suggest overcompensating a little and using 1k, just because you can always turn the dial a little less, but it's really hard to turn the dial more than what the unit is rated for.

SquaredLogic reacted to W-L in Amps on LEDs
This is assuming your are using a 12V LED strip and running the fans lower than 12V if you want your fans full speed you can just connect everything to 12V instead.
-
SquaredLogic reacted to W-L in Amps on LEDs
If your using a 12V LED strip they have resistors built into each strip of LED's so there is no need for any modification except plugging it into 12V in your case I would suggest adding a switch on the GRD line for both the fans and LED which will turn both on or off at the same time.

if youre powering it through molex theres no need to worry about amps

If you have to choose between them i would Easily recommend the 260x Becouse:
1. 2GB VRAM, Higher textures run better
2. Higher Core and Memory Clocks.
3. About twice as high Texture and Pixel rate.
4. More than twice as many Texture Mapping and Compute units.
But i would rather recommend the 265 becouse it has the Pitcairn architecture.
It has slightly better performence And has newer software and hardware than the 260x

I would recommend you save up some more money then buy something a lot better such as the R9 270.

@SquaredLogic Welcome to the forum! Please remember to follow your topics so you're notified when someone answers in my sig you can find links to the CoC and the forum's F.A.Q. check them out!
The 260x is the best by far, if you can spend a little more I definitely recommend a 270.

SquaredLogic reacted to LogicalDrm in What HDD to choose
I would get blue just because its bit faster at 7200rpm against Intellipower (~5000rpm).

SquaredLogic reacted to AMD Lover in What HDD to choose
Their speed is exactly the same on the 64MB cache versions so it really doesnt matter. I would go green since they are the same

Nobody's gunna give you a link + this is probably against the ToS

Super easy to find but I don't think we can post it here.

If you've already purchased Win7 Ult, then torrenting the .iso to install with a USB stick is perfectly ok and should not be against TOS.
You'll also need a .iso to USB burner application.
Orrrrr. You could just use Microsoft's Home Premium link, then you'll have to upgrade from within your fresh instal. (I think it's Start>"upgrade">).
Win7 HP has Pro and Ult built in.

I'm pretty sure sharing DL links on here to paid software is against the ToS no matter how we submit it.
Do a simple google search.

SquaredLogic reacted to Fred Castellum in DDR3 1866 MHz vs. DDR3 1600 MHz
The 1866 Mhz set will be better but only slightly. You'll most likely not notice the difference at all, just get the cheaper pair.

What CPU are you using it for? If it is an APU, then yes, else, no, unless it is almost the same price.
