Look for a Power On setting. Usually can be set to "On" "Off" or "Last State." You want preferably "Last State" or "On" to have the system come back up after a Power Failure. And/or, if you have a UPS, see my UPS Howto in my Sig. to set your UPS to suspend Folding while on battery.
All my Gigabyte x300-x500 motherboards and my latest Asus x670e Motherboard have it.

You can report folding stats of a headless from a... nonheadless (headful??) to the database. @Gorgon has a HOWTO written up for v7.x clients:
Things to watch out for: Tunnelling this way will credit any CPU slots as the CPU of the headful, as well as the OS of the headful. GPU performance stats are not affected.

v8.x beta clients are natively supported (also in beta) by the database.

Also, how are you going to retain the same heating capacity of your home? YOU GOTTA GET ANOTHER SUPER!!

My linux distribution finally released drivers compatible with the 4070ti Super! I run from 8PM-8AM when temperatures go down so I don't have to deal with the heat in my small space. Moving from 2x2060s brought me from ~4.5M PPD at a combined 290W to ~8.5M PPD at 185W in those 12 hours. Pretty nice to reduce power consumption by over a third and nearly double my output, wasn't expecting that based on the PPD rank database! Wish I could send data samples to it from a headless system.

    See you in June, @cbigfoot!

Yeah, I was away from home for a week so of course that's when a UPS died in my rack because hardware always knows when I'm gone.

Back up as of yesterday, almost all services restored.

At the opposite end of the power efficiency spectrum....
...I just ripped a Radeon 480 out of a system being scrapped at the transfer station.  When we get to folding month at the end of the year, I'll have to try to get it going for my first GPU folding ever.  LOL

This card has been through some shit, with me cutting up the PCB and now all this. Its a trooper and now it's got the battlescars to prove it.

Welp, its been a couple days of cleaning but I'm finally starting to see some progress!

Too bad for the EK block, which has most of the nickel plating either removed or damaged at this point. The alphacool blocks with their chrome plating took ultrasonic cleaning without issues!

Over an hour of hard scrubbing later and i don't think it's very pretty anymore.
I think i'm just going to get  an ultrasonic cleaner and hope that  is able to reach in between the microfins on the waterblocks. Because if that fails, i'm going to have to buy all new watercooling for this box.....

Guess alphacool loop cleaner and a semi-copper radiator don't mix all too well.

I don't usually post too much about fussing around with my PCs, but after moving to a new apartment last year and realizing I needed to downsize my home server, CoffeeBox, I finally finished the project! I'd like to share because I'm really happy with how it came out, and it's where most of my folding gets done.

This was the previous chassis, a Fractal Define 7 XL. It sat in my entryway and was fine in the winter (the cables were managed after this photo was taken to not be a tripping hazard), but in the summer the lack of insulation for the entryway resulted in the hard drives running over max temperature threshold. This resulted in me moving it, and led to the moment during the November folding event where the washing machines shook screws out of it and caused a short.

This box pulls a few different duties -- it runs a media server, a bunch of game servers, a discord bot, my personal website, holds backups, acts as a NAS, and runs compute projects for me. Notably, none of these really require the big box, I only went with it because it gave me lots of slots to throw old GPUs in, which has been proving increasingly expensive as electricity prices around here keep going up. It'd be cheaper in the long run for me to just downsize to a more power efficient solution. Between the need for a smaller box, wanting less power consumption, and recent back-to-back boot drive failures (thank you Samsung for your repeated faulty SSD batches, two dead 970 Pros at less than 10% of their TBW rating)...

CoffeeBox 2.0! Roughly a quarter of the size (23.5% of the volume, or 28% with the drive enclosure), faster, quieter, and more power efficient. I kept the same drives, memory, and CPU (Which had recently been upgraded from an i7-8700k when 13th gen had a brief price crash due to 14th gen releasing), but swapped out basically everything else. The most noteworthy migration was from 2x2060s and 1x1080 to a single 4070 Ti super, which should just about triple GPU compute performance at half the power consumption before tuning! It's still on a UPS, but that now sits further away from the machine.

    CPU: Intel i9-13900k (power limited)
GPU: MSI 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X
    Motherboard: ASRock Z790 PG-ITX/TB4
    RAM: 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000
    PSU: Corsair SF750
    Cooler: Noctua NH-U12A
    Chassis: Cooler Master NR200
    Drive Enclosure: Sabrent 10-Bay DS-UCTB
Storage: 7x WD Red Plus 12TB, 1x WD Black 8TB, 2x WD SN850x redundant boot drives

Now I just need to figure out if I'm going to wait a few weeks for my linux distro to release a driver that actually SUPPORTS the 4070 Ti Super, or if I'm going to be impatient and add a repo for it...

It could be, but the timing is just weird then. Why would contact between the block and the card die right when F@H also had server issues? 🤔

That being said, deep cleaning is almost done, let's see what this does.

i upgraded to the beta V8 client while i was at it, so far PPD seems to be pretty simmillar but lets see what happens after it crunched a couple WU's.

sidenote, the difference between V7 and V8 in functionality is pretty astronomical! i love the way machine management has been moved off-node so if you have multiple boxes running the process and need for 3rd party apps has been removed completely. i wonder how this will work in the long run.

This is a new one. I have 6 slots stuck Sending but the twist is it doesn't appear to be a network issue but with the server:

The Server Stats show the unit has one error - Out of Disk Space. Whoops!

There is already a post on the Support Site about the issue.

I guess we'll just have to watch the QRB dwindle until they get it fixed.

I've been testing on the "Gaming - Power" plan and getting 3 to 3.5m on average. Granted it requires frequent input (every ~20 minutes), so that PPD is inflated. Realistically it's 2 to 2.5m for me (or lower if I'm AFK).

If you're willing to put in some work (clicking and such), it's not a terrible value proposition. Compared to buying a new setup, if you saved instead of the subscription ($50/month), it'd take a little over 3 years to get to $2,000 and 5 years for $3,000. Maybe using those dollar amounts is a bit liberal, but still, it's years before the break-even point.

Worth mentioning there is a risk of being banned at any point with essentially no recourse. Their terms specify that they can ban an account with no refund if they decide it isn't following their rules. This is not legal advice. I read somewhere that someone had contacted their support asking if folding is allowed. They said it was allowed but that their system could mistake it for mining and they were working to fix that. Seems like that might have happened or maybe my activity & metadata is keeping it out of the red (e.g. I'm starting their app from macOS which could be deemed a "more valid" use case).

Edit: I recently found that connecting via browser seems to have a longer timeout, at least when I use Arc browser. I'm not sure why that is. But still, trying to game this can get you banned.

So...yesterday I spent 3 hours trying to get my GPU folding again because it became "Disabled" after updating Arch...came back to it today and fixed it in 10mins. All I had to do was put it to full power in the web browser -_-
