YesItsMe reacted to rhodestech in Scammers using new technique to bypass Valve's Steam Guard
I hope Valve fixes this as soon as possible.
"Valve has in place a protection mechanism for stopping strangers using your account but this new phishing method bypasses its so-called 'Steam Guard'. You will see Steam Guard employed when you log into a PC you haven't used before with your Steam account. If you haven't seen it before all it does it pop up a window to input a verification code which it has sent your registered email address. No code – no logging to Steam from your new computer."

YesItsMe reacted to KakaoDj in ASUS Demonstrates New ROG 290X and 780Ti Matrix Feature: Memory Defroster For Extreme Overclocking
ASUS ROG article (not really any info, everything is in the video)
So this is basically a feature that defrosts your memory when your card is under LN2 to avoid any bugs that comes from cold memory (i have no idea). You plug in a molex connector and turn a switch on, and then the card gets heated up around the GPU, but not the GPU itself of course.
Not really for the average user or gamer, but a cool feature nevertheless. I have gotten my hands on some cheap LN2, and i would love to test it on a GPU, but my 560Ti is not really my ideal test subject  Good thing the Matrix cards have this feature if i deicde to go for it
The video contains super epic music, so strap your hard hats and pants on. (That freezing sound effect doe)

YesItsMe reacted to Fratsch in MSI R9 290X Lightning always in OC-Mode
I recently bought an MSI R9 290X Lightning, along with some other new pc components. Putting the pc together worked just fine and everything runs smoothly and is stable. But now I noticed that the load indicator LED on the graphics card is always red and the power LED shows that it's in OC-Mode all the time. Since this card was just recently released I found almost nothing on this topic and I'm not familiar with current graphics crad features since my last one is fairly old. It's always the same thing whether it's under load or not. I wanted to ask if anyone knows what could cause this.
Specs:
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
ASUS Maximus VI Hero (latest drivers)
Intel i5-4670K (stock clock)
2x4GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz
MSI R9 290X Lightning (stock clock)
750W PSU

YesItsMe reacted to Puppet in Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Costs About $256 to Build
It's not exactly 60% profit once you factor in marketing, paying employees and logistics etc but I'm fairly certain they are getting a good deal out of it.

YesItsMe reacted to MariusJS in Worlds next biggest LAN PARTY in Norway!
The Gathering 2014 started Wednesday at 09:00AM, and as I've not seen anything about it on here, I am going to post something!
Only Dreamhack is larger, but The Gathering is more of a LAN PARTY! Dreamhack seems more CES-ish
Official English page:

My spot at The Gathering (I am sitting to the right, and my PC is at the top of my shelf):
We also have OK internet speeds....
