joe.blair reacted to royalcrown in Semi-realistic sniper game
Try Arma 3 a lot better than 2 as far as gameplay. As far as How missions work, still perplexing.

you already have portable PCs, it is called a laptop.

joe.blair reacted to Trav_X in Are Mac computers really that bad?
People dog them so much, but what do you guys really think?
Personally OSX, especially Capitan and the newer versions, are a pleasure to use, although I still love the Windows 10 experience and the like. The only drawback in my opinion is lack of support on certain programs from the Internet, stuff like Dolphin Emulator, many certain Steam games, and those kinda things (not even sure if Dolphin is supported, just using as an example).
I think the aesthetics are great. If the newest MacBook actually had some vents, I would consider getting it and BootCamping it and using as a daily driver (however my mileage may vary ). But the design just has drawbacks, and I don't like spending a crap ton on adapters.
What do you guys honestly think about Mac computers (excluding the Mac Pro). I know this has probably been a thread before, but what actually do you guys think?

iRacing no
Rfactor...maybe?
Assetto Corsa...Maybe?
The thing is you are looking at scripting work. Any these games are designed to be modded to add extra content...Cars tracks ect not really designed for scripting mods.

joe.blair got a reaction from airdeano in Insane Water-Cooling Loop 100'!
Thanks for your advice, all.
The tubing may be shielded by some glass panels (like a picture frame) so I'm not too worried about puncturing. And in response to airdeano's comment about how Aurora is just for show systems, this is going to be exclusively for show.
I love the LF Reaction Dual Bay Reservoir Trey222 recommended, however I'll be hiding the res in a little cabinet I'll build, so maybe using something more like this?
Does anyone have recommendations for quiet powerful pumps I could run in series which are rated for continuous operation?

probably any piece of hardware youd leave out in the rain in a state of sleep or simply shut off would start like nothing happened if you take the time to rice-dry it before

joe.blair got a reaction from Levent in Do You Have a Separate System Build for Specific Task Other than Your Main Rig?
To not include laptops makes no sense to me. I would have three alternate PCs if laptops were included, one of which has a core i7.
Functions:
0- Home pc, gaming, youtube
1- Living room pc, gaming, media, emulators
2- Personal laptop
3- Work PC (Laptop)

joe.blair got a reaction from msquare in Define R4 Build- GTX 980 G1
Build in a windowed Define R4 with all fan mounts filled with 140mm fans (XIGMATEK XAF-F1451 140 RT) 32gb of 1600mhz Ballistix RAM [edited] , AIO cooler (Corsair H110 Hydro) on the Phenom II X6 1045T FX 9590 [updated], GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 and Corsair 750 Watt PSU, Sabertooth 990FX R2, and gaudy blue lights.
I'll be uploading more gratuitous shots.
(It's intended that the photo be stylized and that it not clearly depict every element inside, static eletricity has sucked dust onto the insdie of the acrylic window, and this photo is an copy of a RAW exposure on an SLR {2MB cap be damned})
