Greenbell7 got a reaction from LIGISTX in Network Security
Well, I checked the devices, changed the SSID, and picked a new (hopefully) even more robust password. I hope that should be enough to stop this from happening again.

No, it is not a good solution.
Unless you're using >10G LAN, you won't need a cache. And 16GB of cache would be essentially pointless.

I have optane m10 16g, I don't anything like this, but only using it for storing OS, as it has impressive random access performance and crazy durability.
For NAS usecase, the connection limit is the network, much higher latency than PCIe, and so does not make sense vs larger (relative to 16gb, e.g. 120gb) SSD cache drive. In neither case will you get better random access, but larger SSD makes more sense for caching large transfers.
SSD became too cheap to justify Optane for consumer uses, 79 AUD 1TB Samsung SSD with DRAM is just far more flexible.

I am not sure. I never used it, but you need a copy and license of Windows 98. You'll need to install it on the virtualized PC.

Greenbell7 reacted to Alex Atkin UK in Nintendo Switch Power Supply
Indeed, its just not worth the risk considering how expensive Macbooks are to get repaired due to Apple denying repair shops access to their chips.

I'd not recommend it, in fact I wont use anything other than the official Macbook charger as there have been reports of the charge chip dying even when using chargers that should have been compatible.
The Switch PSU especially not recommended as its slightly none-standard which is why unofficial Switch chargers were also reported to damage the Switch, in fact as I recall there were even some unofficial docks which caused issues using the official charger.

Greenbell7 reacted to SpookyCitrus in Norton Antivirus
Use Malwarebytes paired with Windows Defender(built into Windows already). There is no other Antivirus I will recommend. Norton along with Avast and Mcafee are god awful. They take up a killer amount of computer performance when running and they are always running, plus they miss... a lot... of stuff. I wouldn't recommend anything other than Malwarebytes if someone is looking for an Antivirus/Antimalware program. Otherwise if you're pretty safe with what you do just use Windows Defender.

Crypto is considered controversial. Because it is.

Ice in a bag that will allow airflow (might I suggest a sock) through, make 3 or 4 of em, put em on the back of a fan and point it at yourself. Make sure to have something to catch the water though or you'll have a mess.
(I live in kentucky, grew up in the poorest part of it, so I know all about jerry rigging stuff.)

Got my Password yesterday and am now fully in this folding thing. Because I live in Florida and the AC is broken I'm running on light mode. However, when it is fixed I'll contribute all the power my desktops i9 has to offer.
