Norton Antivirus

Last year I signed up for a year of Norton Antivirus. After hearing that that might have not been the best choice in a recent LTT video I was hoping somebody might have a suggestion for a good alternative. Also, a little off topic, I was considering using nice hash when I'm finally able to get my hands on the GPU I wanted so I just wanted to know why it was considered controversial.

Use Malwarebytes paired with Windows Defender(built into Windows already). There is no other Antivirus I will recommend. Norton along with Avast and Mcafee are god awful. They take up a killer amount of computer performance when running and they are always running, plus they miss... a lot... of stuff. I wouldn't recommend anything other than Malwarebytes if someone is looking for an Antivirus/Antimalware program. Otherwise if you're pretty safe with what you do just use Windows Defender.

Thanks, guys, for answering. My computer's performance is ok for now, so I'll continue to use Norton until my subscription expires, then I'll switch to Malwarebytes.

This is the best option for me either. I should say, Malwarebytes is considered to be one of the best antivirus software. I've recently checked the info. Also, Webroot, Bitdefender and VirusTotal are on the list.

Thanks. What do you think about acronis? I know they spornserd a LTT episode or two.

I run Sophos Home. The free version throws a "special offer" pop-up once in a blue moon, but it uses the same definitions as their commercial version. (We ran it at work for years.)

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
