  1. weeeew I haven't been here in goddamn forever.  Just bumped my laptop from 16GB to 32GB of RAM.  16 was starting to feel a little bit tight.

School laptops here are single core amd

We didn't have laptops in school when I went to high school.  At least, not provided by the school

    4. themctipers

      elementary school here lol

high school in September .. If it's needed I'm bringing my core duo laptop, who the fuck wants to take that?

  2. just get a cheap unmanaged switch. That way you can just plug it in and it should work just fine out of the box.
  3. Likely gonna buy another 16GB of RAM for my laptop.  16GB alone isn't cutting it anymore.

I've got a Clevo.  It's got plenty of clearance on all 4 slots.  @Wikiforce I easily maxed out 16GB on my practical exam last friday.  Not hard when you've got 9 server VMs running with multiple roles each.

Tbh I can't even get by on my gaming workload with just 8GB anymore.

tfw my puny little Elitebook has 16GB.. I pulled 12GB from my last laptop, and then got an insane offer on a 8GB stick of DDR3L - $15USD. I couldn't resist :P

  4. Honestly, I'd give it more than both of those offers. My college's surplus sale had 2009 MBP's for $400 and they sold like hotcakes. You gotta include the "Apple Tax". People fall for that shit easily. OP could throw his thing up on Kijiji for $800 and have it sold in less than a week.
  5. That's definitely true, but I'd still take it over an Inspiron. If you want build quality, get a Dell Precision machine.
  6. To be completely honest, I'd go with the Clevo for better build quality. Sure, they aren't usually full aluminum chassis', but they're constructed damn well. Had mine for 2 years, and there isn't a scratch.
  7. I'd personally wait for VEGA, but it might be a disappointment at the same time. On the other hand, you could go ahead and get a 580 which might give you a bit of a boost over the 480.
  8. NA server? Add Shelfy
  9. Budget? Country? Resolution? Games?
  10. I need to name my new rig but I don't know what to call it.  Ideas?

What about the 1600X is a volcano? It has almost the same TDP as the 7700k. Cool names though, I'll consider it.

It's just because AMD = red.

    4. AnnoyedShelf

      True.  I'll definitely consider it

  11. Finally got my 1440p monitor set up.  I didn't know that 144hz could be this cozy.

      Hope you dont die!

  12. Finally decided on a monitor.  Ordered the MG279Q a couple of days ago.  Seems to be my best option given my requirements.

oh neat, thanks for the heads up!  Also, love your profile.  You been able to get that game to run on your AMD card without issue?

    3. DeadEyePsycho

Yeah I use the FAR mod. Works great.

    4. AnnoyedShelf

Oh nice.  Yeah I was running in fine on my 980m, but now that I have a desktop again, I'll probably get it going on that.

  13. You should be just fine then.
  14. IIRC AMD's maximum recommended voltage is 1.45V, so you should be just fine.
