  1. You were making a joke, but i've been wondering, could several of these SOC's be stuck together on a motherboard to make some kind of super machine? (Like, by Apple, not me with superglue)?
  2. Linus fails to understand that Apple deals with Oprah and Bono and Obama. They're not going to waist their time with a youtuber who just sits there and whines about them not respecting him and calling them names. They can deal with the president if they want them. Linus is very much a big fish in a small pond and rather than figuring out how to thrive in the lake, he's just polluting te water.
  3. I'm wondering if the quote in the OP is a tease of a Microsoft VM program (or something like that)...an actual program by them to run windows inside MacOs....Apple isn't one for just random comments without there being something behind it.
  4. You're shredding some very fine lines. Now, myself, I've been on facebook a very long time and continue to use it, so I walked past the line of Facebook knowing my secrets a loooooong time ago, so I'm interested in this from the tech specs, can it do what I want, and for a price I'll pay...but these privacy concerns have been a big thing with his community (se the PIA hubabloo) and, while I haven't seen the new wan show yet, it sounds like he spends another ammount of time being defensive when called out, with luke I'm sure telling him he's good and pretty, and likely whining again about how Apple won't give him the time of day (as he did in the short circuit about iPhones)
  5. 6 months? I'd be surprised if there isn't something by Christmas.
  6. Is it still a thing to set up a bunch of mini's as a beowolf cluster? Anyway. more options is always good. If people need a 10gig, they can get one, and if not, there's the 1gig.
  7. OP: This is an exiting time for technology that could inspire all sorts of developments! Yay! Happy time! Tech is fun! Everyone on forum: Boo your happy time, apple sux!
  8. A few tech questions... 1) What's the size difference between 65gb and 128gb? 2) I currently have the Samsung Odyssey + so use it with windows vr and steam VR (and games)... can this be used with those? 3) Is that what using the "oculus link" cable is for? 4) How long can a "oculus link" cable be? (Video said that any usb c <-> usb c cable works. 5) If you have a game on Steam (Beat Saber) do you need to buy it again thru the oculus store? and a question not for this product, but VR in general, but hopefully someone might help with it. I have two eyeglass perscritpions....one for distance, and one for monitor use (and one for reading glasses, but that's not relevant)....which perscription is better to use for VR, the regualr distance or the mid range monitor?
  9. Oh, I wasn't disputing your point at all, just adding information of interest to many that I'd seen when looking at your link.
  10. further down that thread there's mention the beta of the m1 photoshop is available (I'd wonder if such)
  11. I don't think it's those. Apple officially doesn't support jailbreaking and hackintoshing, there's always been this undercurrent that they support it and watch it to find new ideas. I think it's the other things you mention. It's about image. Apple doesn't need whiny clickbait tech geeks. They're Apple. Everyone is going to watch them and cover them, so they're going with the professional(MKBD) or that fit the image they want to project (iJustine). I think if they want to up their game and get Apple's attention they need to: 1) Stop with the clickbait Apple titles. 5 different videos last week with them last week. Often good videos with good (generally) balanced info, but the titles... 2) Stop whining when you're not included in a pre-ship. It's most apparent with Apple, but if you watch videos, there's ones where Intel didn't include them, or other companies. 3) Stop being so defensive when you're called out. And for g-d's sake, don't double down on it. 4) Stop calling the top gay executive in the world by the name the biggest homophobe in the world called him by. I'm sure they find it a gigglefest, and don't think of the connotations, but its noticeable. 5) or to sum up..be more profesional. If you want to be seen as the top of the tech video market, act like it.
  12. Yeah...I've always been willing to accept the limitations in a "get what you pay for" sort of way....cerntainly wouldn't say it's the way someone who's really into gaming should go.
  13. oh, Parallels has worked great for when I've needed it. I'm curious how it'll work with the M1...and if the secret sauce of Windows Arm might lay somewhere in Parallels efforts and WINE etc. I've played a lot of games (well in the past, I have a PC for most gaming now), using WINE or CIDER packages that, while I'm sure not a premium experience a gamin entusiast would want, was perfectly fine and fun for me.
  14. I'd imagine such things will change with the M2 or M1 Pro or whatever they're naming scheme will be for future things, no? Like, (and I repeat what I've said often, this is "dragons be here" territory of the computer for me), you'd have the onboard memory of the SOC, then a "secondary" made of dimms? Yeah.. it's literally what happened with the car industry... is it that folks in the forum and similar are in a bubble to not get this is how technology goes? and as @Carstenpximentioned the popularity of rasberry pi etc is similar to the car kit movement. I don't hear pessimism...I hear bitterness. Little asides sniping at others who got test units a week ago, ignoring that he gets test units of stuff others don't, also ignoring that he sounds whiny and unprofessional, both in terms of his continued non-importance to Apple and to his relationship with the reviewers..his peers... who did get early access, some he's friends, or at least friendly, with, with an implication that they're not as "good" as him, so they must suck up to Apple to get where they are. I would really hope someone pulls him back, because it's not a good look for him or the channels, but frankly, I think mostly he has a support system of yes men to ensure him he's right.
  15. I've never been good at using Crossover...or any of the other wine implementations...to package my own software to use on my mac..but this is pretty cool. Be interested to see test results on it after after 11.1 comes out and another WINE/Crossover update or two.
  16. I've argued this as a reason against a tiered system in the past. It's a very obvious exploit of the system, so I'd guess Apple either has a way to deal with it or just decided that it's not enough to offset the positives of the move.
  17. They got a bunch of licenses with the new cameras, so who knows.
  18. I wonder how they'll police this to keep some shady developers from just putting up a money grab app, then switching names over and over.
  19. Well, until you're more experienced "picking up strange" on tinder, I'm just not sure your opinions on tech issues matter.
  20. Interesting.. Pixelmator specifically was called out in MKBHD's video for not working on his M1 mbp. Guess an update happened between him trying it and now.
  21. I don't know if I'd call it a "rift". LMG goes back and forth between being super thirsty for apple juice and being bitter they can't get it, while Apple couldn't care less about LMG. I'd think the Mac Pro level stuff is going to be a year at least...or could be the rumored christmas surprise....one or the other.
  22. Is there a better one that isn't "For no particular reason, the same companies decided not to have the same options in the same program on the two different platforms."
  23. "The top of the line Intel system with a dedicated GPU" THAT was the context I was missing! Thanks.
