  1. Perhaps if you posted in the right board?
  2. I see a lot of people saying this but to be honest I have never had a problem with it. It could be a bit messy before if you did not understand workgroups.
  3. Thing is if you have both the experience and the certs you earn a lot of money and at least in the IT consultant industry having certifications gives your company many advantages and access to partner programs that they want. Also if they have a partner program that is dependent on your certification they are likely to keep you in front of pretty much everyone else. I was often paid a lot higher than the bosses at the company was and much was thanks to my certifications. Edit: You will most likely need one of the higher certifications for this though. Like an MCSE, MCT from MS or at least as CCNP from CISCO. With an CCIE you can more or less set your own salary though. It is one of the highest sought after educations within Networking. An A+, Network+, MCP, CCNA and so on will not do this for your career though. It has to be one of the higher Certification tracks out there.
  4. From what I understand they are harder to take today. Back when they came out and I took Security+ it was at the level of what is SSL and why do you need a firewall Network+ was like MS Network Essentials light and A+ was also very easy. Passed all of them with no studying what so ever in the 90%+ score. CTT+ was harder since you had to do a video demonstrating teaching techniques and send it in. If I were not retired today I would so go for the CCIE! I love the idea of doing a lab exam.
  5. If he had sold it as is it would have been ok but he sold it as working. I think pretty much everyone I know would demand a refund even after more time than that. Might be because of consumer laws in Sweden though.
  6. I do not think the time matters if you have claimed something is working and it does not work.
  7. Sounds like the IP was reserved for the old routers MAC adress. Something I have not seen in over 10 years.
  8. A definition of what you mean by a modem, coaxial, fiber and Ethernet is so needed here As you describe it what you need is a router. But then all of a sudden you link to a dsl modem? I am so lost as to what you are talking about
  9. Do you get any medical help for your depression? It has really helped me with my depression. Also a great way to meet new people is to sign up for an evening class in something you are interested in. That way you already have that interest in common.
  10. You are an experienced sys admin but all your experience is from a short time practice during school and installing Linux on a school server? If you are no motivated to study you are in the wrong business to be honest. This job will have you constantly studying. In my prime I read about one 500 pages study book a week. Do university first is my opinion.
  11. Well he should have given him the money back since he sold it as working. If you o not know you sell it as is or this can happen.
  12. The sites I have seen it on will not work unless you uninstall ad blocker. So no reason for me to think Spotify would be different.
  13. I am very happy with my Asus crosshair 7. Hard to get much better than that.
  14. Now if whitelisting would work I would not mind but the sites I have seen implementing this demand you to uninstall adblocker to be able to browse the site. Personally I find it way to much work to uninstall it and reinstall all the time so I just do not go to these sites.
  15. Spotify is still a lot better than how it was before Spotify Also I do not think it is that expensive either considering what you get. I subscribe to Netflix much because it is the closest thing to Spotify when it comes to movies. I do not watch Netflix but I support it
  16. That is how they reason. Problem is that many have tried this before only to discover that doing this actually hurt them. It is born from a perspective of greed and not understanding that if you take away the 1.2 million in your example that are not viewing the ads they crumble their user base making it unattractive for all parties in the end. Swedens biggest news paper tried this not long ago and they discovered a lot of problems of their thinking. It turned out that when people could not share news articles with their friends because they could not read them because of blocking ad blockers the people who actually viewed the ads stopped using the site and started using other alternatives instead. Political parties on FB stopped linking to them for the same reason and news where simply linked elsewhere. Spotify came about because of a greedy music industry killing them self of. Doing the same mistake again just shows that we never learn from history.
  17. The willingness for companies to pay for ads is based on a user base of expected number of people seeing their ads. They have no interest what so ever in the premium users since they do not get shown any ads. If your user base goes down which it would do with blocking ad blockers will put the user base in an ever ending spiral down. It will also bring down users who do watch the ads since the interest in using the site is less for everyone the less people are exposed to the content. Food is different and so would any physical object be. When we talk data though it works different even if right holders do their best to try and convince us that it does not.
  18. More than 2 decades ago for me. I have way better picture and sound than the theater have anyway. I pay for Netflix though because I like the idea. Seen all the movies long before they reach Netflix so it is only to support the idea I am paying for it.
  19. Read all that I wrote. They will loose a lot of money on it and in the end be forced to enable it again or go under like all other companies trying this before them have. The alternative would be to not have a free option at all. Not even with ads. Might work in a country like the US where people seem to think everything should be paid but not in the rest of the world.
