Sometimes people come off condescending there.

Yes, writing essays, I remember when I used, "The object" to start every sentence for an entire paragraph, then looking back and thinking how awful this sounds.

Ehh, English is my second language, still struggle pronouncing words I don't know, and I feel limited when it comes to expressing myself. My first language was Russian, so many more words to choose from and I'm more comfortable with it, I learned English was I was 9 or 10 (there is still an argument here that English could be my first language along with Russian. People make fun of me for using idioms and phrases in the wrong way, though I think its funny too.

Yet many people struggle to understand that.

Dragging out the old thesaurus is sometimes necessary, though.
A general rule within creative writing (and I would argue any writing) is that you shouldn't use the same word excessivly within a short span of text.
    Here's an example:

The word "garbage" takes up almost 10% of that paragraph. When a word is used that frequently it takes the reader out of the text and forces them to think about the text rather than think about what the text is telling them.
In a case like this it could be beneficial to use a synonym, so as to not render the word "garbage" meaningless.
And before anyone points it out, yes, the word "bag" is equally as misused.

However, if you're writting something, and see the need to use a thesaurus frequently, then you might just need to work on bettering your writing.
At least that's the case with Empress Theresa.

Using long words just for the sake of it is some r/iamverysmart bullshit.
It might show that you know some long and/or advanced words, but it also shows a lack of basic communication skills.
Communication is a two-way street and if the receiving party isn't getting it, then it's almost always the fault of the sender.

English is my second language so I don't really read books with really sophisticated vocabularies.
But when I was in high school, when I wrote an essay or an article sometimes I thought like that just to be more expressive and squeeze more marks.
Complex is not always better though, my mate even said this the other day that using too many excessive complex vocabulary may sounded odd.
Your English is beyond my skill probably, I'm just sharing my thoughts.

I'm a 4th year CompSci major doing a 5 year BS program I prefer windows over mac, I feel like mac books are just over rated for college, I had a friend who was a civil engineer and she said that since the macbook was given to her as a gift she would use it but if she were to buy herself a computer it would always be a windows machine, you can get same power for less $, and this may be outdated now, since i don't use mac but there maybe less tools out there for mac, but i could be wrong. I think you still can function with a mac but in all of my classes we only have instructions as to how to get software for windows only and the mac users are always bashing their heads against the table.
But i am biased towards apple, never liked their stuff cause it was way too expensive.

My cousin and I are CompSci majors and do a decent amount of dev work, we both just purchased ultrabooks.
    He got a Asus ZenBook:

    I got the Dell XPS:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078Z3HJ1X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both of these are incredible machines, the zen book is 750 $USD the XPS is 950 $USD.

Both will be more than enough to handle IT work.

I prefer the XPS because of the touch screen, brighter screen and 10hr+ battery life (lowest brightness setting), but the Zenbook gets around 6-7hr on battery (depending on how you set it up)

I don't remember about the zen book but the XPS can have its SSD swaped out for a larger one (M.2 2280) also.

Edit: Zenbook also has M.2 so should be able to swap out for a larger one.

I think that these reviews are actually very informative especially towards the "whales" that always buy the highest spec models of Apple tech. They now know that it's not worth getting the latest and "greatest."

If you make a laptop, it should be functional, reliable and tested to ensure that it works.

You don't excuse the fact that it runs unsuitably hot by saying it is because it has an i9, Apple knew what they were getting themselves into when they decided to release it, and should have made the correct and suitable cooling solution to cope with it. There is no excuse.

The Alpine 11 is considerably quieter than the stock cooler. If you're just looking for something quieter, it's a good option.
