  1. Ok, ok, first are you using the router from your ISP? How if your device connected to your router? Wifi? Ethernet? If it is ethernet, older computers sometimes can only handle slower internet speeds, this can be fixed by buying a $15 gigabit network card, or if your PC has USB 3 use a Ethernet to USB adapter maybe. If it is WiFi, use Netgear's wifi analytics app or something similar to see if your router is broadcasting to the same channel as your neighbors. Its like if I'm talking to my dad and my sister walks in to the room yelling and o can barely hear my dad. Also some devices have slow wifi Anyway, please give us details, and we can help. Sometimes calling your ISP they can help with this, but they might just waste time and sell you stuff.
  2. It's used for things like Coaxial to Ethernet adapters. So if you want to wire your PC to your router in another room, and your house isn't wired with Ethernet, older houses might still have coax wiring for cable TV. So you use this adapter to use it like an Ethernet cable. It can be used for other things too, I'm sure. Hope this helps!
  3. It's because people are afraid of D link spying on you
  4. Ok, we need more details First, what kind of business is this? A video production company like ltt would need cat 7 cables and 10 gigabit stuff, while someone just selling books or something wouldn't need that. Please provide the following details: 1 what type of business is this 2 how.many people are there 3 how fast will the internet be 4 what will they be doing on the internet 5 what is your budget 6 do you want something that "just works" for internet, or do you need enterprise level equipment? Please answer the questions, and then we can help you better, thanks.
  5. I'm happy that you guys are taking to time to actually give me good and reasonable answers. I asked on Reddit, and half of the people were like "SCREW YOUTUBE, AND I WANT TO PIRATE BLUE RAY RIPS WITHOUT ANY ADS"
  6. Don't worry, i wont cuss you out for using an adblocker. Im just curious first of all, i am aware there is 4 major types of adblock users, Ads are annoying and i dont care about the websites i visit losing a couple dollars I dont want companies spying on me and tracking me Just me wont make a huge difference (the stupid person) I already pay for my PC and internet So i am just curious, which one are you and why? I also have a few questions: What category do you fall in? Do you compensate websites by donating to them? How often do you use an ad blocker? do you "whitelist" any sites? if you use one for privacy reasons, do you pay for services (example, yt premium, "memberships" for websites, etc.) If you said you do it because you dont care about websites and ads are just super annoying, why do you feel entitled to keep using their services? For example, if you constanly upload 4k youtube videos and make money, and you watch youtube all day, but still dont let ads play. It feels un ethical to me, but thats just me. if you said you already pay for your internet and therefore everything on the internet should be free, you do realize you are only paying for a cable going to your home to your isp to the rest of the world and the cost of maintaining it, right? why do you use one if you dont meet any category above? My opinion: I think ad filters, like blocking harmful ads is okay. but to block all, is kind of bad. I mean if everyone did it, rip all free services. approx. 30 million people in the USA use adblockers. imagine paying for everything, youtube, ltt forum, reddit, twitter, facebook, amazon, ebay, everything. Edit: One more thing, SCREW YOUTUBE FOR ADDING DOUBLE ADS
  7. the battery life in older laptops usually suck. I'd get a used 2016 or newer Lenovo Ideapad. Edit: went on ebay and found this: https://ebay.to/2LSbCV8. Seems like a good deal but im not sure about the battery.
  8. I will give some tips but first, just watch this video so you know everything NOT to do. there are a lot of trolls in this forum that will tell you to put tons of thermal paste. Put only a little bit if your cooler doesn't already have some. Also im not so impressed with the GPU, i would personally get this rx 580 https://amzn.to/2IqTjUN, as it is only $169.99 at the moment. Also i havent tried this ssd, but it seems good, so might be worth a shot https://amzn.to/30MT7Fx It appears you cant use that CPU cooler in that case I also found a better cpu on amazon https://amzn.to/333KQPh im outta time, ill try to come back later. I encourage you to use Amazon smile. it is the same items and same prices but amazon donates .5% of what you pay to any charity. gtg now bye..
  9. r/HomeAssistant free and open source home automation platform, awesome works with almost everything. just look at what people have made its incredible
  10. Ima include my whole family. Like 6 laptops, 5-6 fire tablets, 10 probably phones
  11. Just want to add guys I don't want to do anything like destroy it, jam signals, etc or anything along those lines. That video was pretty funny, I'll probably check if the drone is a flying ftp server also if it comes back.
  12. Yeah I haven't seen it come back I want to be prepared legally if it does
  13. Thank is it's pretty interesting
  14. That's no fun Ok, good point. I won't do that. Maybe I'll just find a way to hack it
  15. So my family and I were outside, when we hear "zzzzzzzz" we look up to find a drone, looks like one of those cheap toy drones with a little red light. But it seemed to notice us, as when we looked at it, it flew away. Kind of creepy. And I don't know what frequency these things run on, I was planning on making the air "noisy" to interfere with it for the next time it comes. I know some drones uses WiFi, so 2.4ghz or 5ghz. The problem is I don't want to ruin my or the neighbors WiFi speed. I thought maybe I could use a antenna that shoots up, but that will probably still interfere with our wifi. I dont know what to do! I'm trying to see if I could use some type of antenna next time I see it so I can try to find what frequency it uses, but for now I don't know what to do. My binoculars probably won't do any good, as it is a small drone with a red light that basically makes it hard to see it. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Edit: I also just learned some drones use 900mhz, so I will record with my rtl sdr and see if I see a spike.
  16. Same. It's just I wish certain things would be improved because I still have the issue of phone battery not being long enough, but at the same time I need my Android phone for many things.
  17. It's not that they haven't improved, but even VoIP or volte or wifi calls or whatever sound like garbage when you use something like Google Duo or hangouts.
  18. Thanks, I'll look out . I know you can often get good deals if you do Google Fi, but I don't have it because their data is expensive compared to major us carriers.
  19. Yeah, just going to do all the work again I guess.
  20. I agree with about 80% of what you said. Yeah phone makers are prioritizing things like resolution and camera quality when they still havent even figured out good phone call quality. Normal phone call quality is so bad, using speaker phone makes it worse. I mean who actually watches 4k Netflix at Starbucks or whatever? I think some brand needs to come out and change priorities a little bit. I don't think anyone would care if phones were 1mm thicker to double the battery life. A lot of people use cases anyway. The thing is tech youtubers and news companies should address these issues to phone companies hear us. Like other than looking flashy i dont care about that as much as things like phone call quality, durability, and ergonomics. We are also getting to the point where they are putting extremely amazing and expensive cameras when 90% of the people using them wont know how to use it or notice a difference between a Iphone 6s or a Iphone 11pro. I get your point. I just hope one brand will re shape the industry soon. But for now, i need a android or ios phone for a few things. Ive never spent over $200 on a smartphone because i know it will be outdated fast.
