  1. I had to move across the country a couple weeks ago and had to sort through my boxes to decide what I'll keep. Some of the boxes I kept because they still have parts in them (kept my PSU box because I keep my modular cables in it, my Mobo box because m.2 screws, and my old rx580 box because I removed the cooler shroud and pcie bracket for a specific PC). I also keep boxes for a while after I buy something just so I have it in case I need to RMA it (like my new monitor and variable power supply). Also some boxes I just keep because I think they're cool, like the box my water bottle from lttstore.com came in
  2. I just pretty much never use my desktop, it ends up being a jumbled mess. I usually just use windows search which works like 80% of the time for me, file explorer, or put a bunch of stuff as non steam games in Steam (This is it now, though I just reinstalled windows like a week ago)
  3. yeah all lowercase is okay but what about all lowercase and comic sans
  4. I don't think anybody in the modern era looks at a swastika and thinks "oh hey it's the peace and good luck symbol" before "oh hey it's the symbol that was used by a group that committed atrocities in the early-mid 1900s" unless it's in specific context.
  5. just about every PC fan (that I know of at least) sucks in from the "front" and blows out the "back", like this if the 2 120mm fans are intake, you should probably have the 140mm as exhaust towards the back.
  6. You could use just a normal image editor like GIMP and use the color picker tool, pick a spot and look at the exact color values with both images. ofc all this is also at the mercy of how good of a camera you're taking the pictures with in the first place
  7. Considering he already has a computer (not a good one but that's irrelevent), does he have to buy new peripherals?
  8. I checked out my google account data thing a while back and found audio recordings from trying to train Google Assistant when I was like 12 and some of the stuff I posted on Google Plus way back then. the cringe probably reduced my lifespan by years.
  9. An RX 560 consumes so little power that I doubt your PSU will struggle to keep up with it, even if it's a cheap offbrand one. What's more concerning to me is that, considering how tight of a budget your PC looks like it's on if your PSU did have a problem and break other components you'd have a difficult time buying replacement parts.
  10. where did you download the software from? It could also just be a false positive, but to be sure I'm pretty sure you can remove it in the Actions drop down menu.
  11. It should be fine, it's listed as "AMD RAM" because they've verified it'll work with AMD processors
  12. This is my Tandy TRS 80 model 1, I'm fairly certain it works but the power supply (a separate unit) is broken
  13. You should probably try re mounting your cooler and re apply thermal paste, that is... very hot. edit: I just read you're not using the stock cooler, nvm
  14. I passed on my first try but mostly because I'd procrastinated scheduling the test for almost a whole year after my 16th birthday, and had a lot of experience driving with my learners permit with my mom in the car. I almost failed it though because I completely spaced out and hesitated right as I was turning left in an intersection, almost getting hit by someone in oncoming traffic.

  16. the Windows Mixed Reality headsets are an amazing deal if you find them for a good price. the Quest is nice but if you already have a PC able to run VR it might not be the best choice, and you might also be waiting a while to get one since they're having trouble keeping up with demand. You could look for a used 1st gen Vive or Rift, but their screen quality and stuff are lacking compared to newer headsets.
  17. Marketing. Also the 5xxx series starts with 50 probably because it was all launched the year of AMDs 50th anniversary.
  18. It definitely looks like an alternative mounting bracket for a CPU cooler. They probably included it just in case you upgrade/change stuff down the line and need the different mounting mechanism with a different MOBO/Socket.
  19. When the computer black screens, is there any other indication that stuff is still running?(sound still playing etc.) If you have a different computer you could swap the GPU into and test you could try that, but it sounds like a graphics card problem to me. Probably not much you can do to fix it if that's the case other than RMAing it.
  20. Does anything specific happen when the screen goes black? I know for example I had a dead GPU that would black screen and force me to hard reset the computer, and when it did the fans would ramp up to 100% speed. How long has the problem been happening for? Ever since the computer was built?
  21. Does the same thing happen if you plug your computer into a different display?
  22. A 1650 Super would be a good choice I think. If you don't mind going used, maybe look for a used RX580 or 570.
  23. You can get some generic ones like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/HDE-PC-Case-Power-Push-Button-Cable-ATX-Computer-On-Off-23-60cm-Switch-Wire/425437920?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2370 (just the first one I saw when I googled motherboard power button"). The motherboard manual should tell you which pins are for power/reset. You can really use any button you want, they're just buttons
