What a braindead spin on someone doing something wrong out of utter desperation and hurting literally nobody except themselves in the process. Does your therapist know you are like this?

Comparing this issue to someone killing themselves is a weird take, and rather insensitive IMO. The lengths people go to defending Linus doesn't surprise me though.
What GN wanted out of this is for LMG to realize their mistakes and improve content quality, also because LTT has a testing lab, if they want to seem like a professional company doing real testing then they need to make sure the tests are accurate as possible.
GN has been careful about criticizing LMG for a while now because of the fanbase that always defends Linus no matter what they do or what dumb take they have. The GN video needed to happen and its things people have been complaining about for years now. Even with the GN video and the recap with more info, people are still getting emotional and defending Linus while they to do damage control.
I find it interesting people think doing investigative journalism is somehow "milking". I guess watching informative videos that call out companies for their BS and anti-consumer tactics just isn't for you then.

Well considering you're denying any of the allegations because she should've just went to the police, and you're claiming people are just "angry mobs" or just "putting up pitchforks" here it seems like you're taking sides and siding with LMG.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but going to the police doesn't usually do anything, unless there is substantiated evidence  of LMG breaking HR policies or evidence of sexual harassment going on, but I'm just going from what other people have said here I am not a legal professional and this is not legal advice.
I think its fine for Madison to bring up concerns on twitter/X, especially if they felt threatened and felt like they didn't have any other options, also when this happened, Linus and LMG tried to dismiss any wrongdoing and the fans just called Madison an upset ex-exployee that was lying. So for Madison to bring this up again now is understandable and a matter of timing when the fans aren't going to be going all out to defend LMG.

Yeah, it was totally a 69 joke. And a SaaS reference. I don't know why people are trying to act like it wasn't. I was surprised there wasn't a 420 reference, too.

That said, his joke, the "sponsor spots", Colton alluding to being fired, Nick Nick half-heartedly plugging merch - honestly just rings of them trying to add a bit of "look, it's still an ltt video," while trying to add levity. I had no problem with it. I can see they were trying to balance between seriousness and trying to not look like "this is scripted and none of us actually believe in this."

I feel after today's events, they likely should edit that part out.

I understand the joke just fine, it was a SaaS joke turned into a innuendo joke by the way it was said and pointing at the camera.
The angry mob are the ones taking sides with LMG on this, LMG isn't your friend.
Making jokes in a serious video, especially innuendo is in bad taste for what should be a serious apology video.
Also here's the definition of innuendo, in case people don't know what that means.

Yeah it was clearly expressed as a sexual joke, and given that the video felt very scripted I wouldn't be surprised if the joke was in the script because LMG likes to put innuendo jokes in a lot of their videos, I guess they felt it was "on brand" to do that though its inappropriate for a serious video.
But seeing Luke make that joke was kinda weird, because he usually doesn't make immature jokes on the WAN snow, then again whoever was in charge of the video put an LTT store ad in the video and monetized the video, they even joked about monetizing the video saying the apology video was a free one.

I disagree. The prototype sale was, in fact, wrong, I do agree with that.

Data errors, well... LTT, and Linus himself, claim that they do their best for the highest accuracy on benchmarking. If they treated their content as entertainment, then why even post up data? Why collect it to begin with?

If they're going to put data out, it needs to be correct. The content is intended to be "worthwhile after the video is posted, for a long time, to help future purchases".

They really need to do better, and right now, I want to hear how they are going to accomplish this.

He's got a history of calling out bad actors. Bad computer manufacturers, bad retailers, bad assemblers, etc. If you watched the videos he addresses that. It's for the consumer. Because bad stuff should be called out before people spend money on it.

He tried giving LMG the opportunity before and was met with Trust Me Bro. After that he said he would only treat them like any other company.

So when LMG posts bad data and gives recommendations on bad data you call that out. When you find out that it took to months for them to own up to the business owners that they sold their prototype (and did it by saying "good news, it's not on a shelf somewhere!" you call that out as well. And when you make a shit apology, complete with a timeline that shows you didn't do right by that company, you call that out.

GN has already said he's not going to bother commenting on LMG anymore, but I hope someone does because today's apology video was tasteless. Three sponsor jokes, one reveal of the prototype cost (against the wishes of the affected party), and one really out of place sex joke. Yeah, LTT/LMG need to do better.

Everyone should hold them up to a higher standard. That means people on this forum with no real voice, and it means people in the media with a platform.

It was partly because LMG attacked them first,  their labs engineer claiming they do better benchmarking, even though LMG still manages to get lots of things wrong in their videos.  For example see their "Why is everyone buying this mic" video, they couldn't even do the mic testing correctly but went ahead and put up data and graphs anyway, and the spelling mistakes are simply unacceptable. And then Linus went to attack them on the WAN show, he didn't name GN but you can obviously tell who he was talking about.
Why is LTT, a channel with video quality that has been going down hill for a long time now, also making videos mostly about playing with expensive things or making things like a game controller made of gold or a $100,000 gaming desk claiming they're better than a hardware reviewer that has a reputation for making good reviews? It seems like LMG is jealous and trying to punch down at GN and HW Unboxed because they are making content with good data that people want to see, and they didn't have to spend millions on a fancy lab building to do that either.

My 2 cents on the situation - I highly doubt Madison would suddenly make shit up especially considering the fact that she can destroy her life if she's slandering LMG and gets sued. So why did she choose yesterday of all days to come forward? In my opinion comes down to 2 things - 1) people asking her and spamming her inbox and 2) for the first time since she left public opinion wasn't on the side of LMG. Can you imagine her coming forward just a week prior? She'd get pummeled by the entire community. Hell, she's getting pummeled now after all the other shit happened.

So in essence, human memory is faulty so there might be some inaccuaracies or misappropriations in her statement but I do believe that the bulk of it is true and it might be the first domino to fall in what could be a long list of employees deciding to tell what their experience has been like.

At what point did Steve say to go to his merch store? He is using the same set he uses in every video.
If people still think GN made the video for drama and views after all of this then I'm not sure what to say, nothing is going to change your defense of Linus because you think of him as your friend.
Again he's using the same set he always does in videos, he didn't monetize while LMG did monetize their video and plugged for the LTT Store. His video wasn't about it doing well at all.

There are a number of options.
Enjoy the forum (it's not half bad, actually) and dump the YT channel
    Dump everything associated with LTT
Forgive, but be on guard if it happens again
Start your own channel (this is not snark...while the tech field is crowded, there is always room for another take)

I've been a member of the LTT community, before it was even LTT. Blond Linus era with handheld footage of parts that were available in the warehouse of NCIX. With the recent events i am not mad, i am not angered or frustrated, but i am sad. Sad because it was one of the coolest community which came up with crazy ideas most of us dreamed of, but couldn't manage to do. One thing was always constant - the passion for the technology. Sadly in the last 5-6 years it's been almost completely gone. Sure, Linus acts excited and there are some good interactions with people like Alex and Anthony, but they are very rare and everything looks both very scripted AND very rushed. Quantity replaced quality. All the videos are in search of the next big trendy wave to surf, so they can capture and lure more new viewers, while the original audience starts to feel left out. I am sad because although Linus says money and business didn't change him, they actually did. He now thinks as a business owner more than as enthusiast. I basically feel like i've lost a really good friend, who had the same crazy ideas as me and that's why i am sad. And i've been witnessing this thing happen over the span of 5-6 years. It's the lessened quality of the videos that hurts and saddens me. I honestly don't even try to keep up with all the videos that LMG pumps out now, while i never missed a single one up until 6 years ago.
There are also few more issues, but this one is the main that i have problem with. The lack of quality at some point was so bad, that i started wondering if the rumors about Intel and Nvidia background sponsor schemes are true. I mean LTT is a part of a very small group of channels that still run GPU tests with intel 13900k. Everyone else uses either 7800X3D or 13700/12700k and gets better results even with low end graphics. Idk if this is intentional or just lack or experience or care, but it certainly leaves a sour aftertaste and feels a bit sus at times.
Pulling punches when criticizing companies when they fail spectacularly is another area that raises questions. A lot of reviewers go berserk on the companies when they decide to screw up the customers, not LTT anymore.

Not just the LTT subreddit, the targeting of a younger audience is done with videos as well, the bright flashy thumbnails, making ridiculous things like a game controller out of gold.
I'm sure his fans like that he runs on his personal feelings, but from this thread and the apology video thread, people are tired of Linus taking criticism and told to better as a personal offense. Linus needs to separate his feeling from how he runs a business.
Because it seems like more of a "whoops we got caught but hey buy our mech" sort of video.
GN picked points that have been a problem with LMG videos for a while now, that doesn't take a ton of planning to do.
Also not making a video for a week doesn't mean much IMO, I'll believe their claims if they make changes to improve. But I'm sure the fans that expect a daily video would be disappointed.
Linus is wearing a LTX shirt in the video, thats still plugging their merch, although thats not nearly as bad as doing a LTT store plug in the video.
It takes away from the message that it seems like LMG cares more about money than they do offering a genuine apology.
And yet LTT still took too long to hide the price of the block.
It's clearly a sexual joke, not very appropriate for what should be a serious video.
I know why they did it though, because his targeted audience probably can't sit through a video without getting a few jokes.
People aren't satisfied because again it seems like they didn't really want apologize, the merch store plug and jokes of sponsorships only made it worse. Saying that people want LMG shut down is a kneejerk reaction to valid criticisms people have here.
I used to enjoy LTT videos but I haven't been interested in most videos they make because they are quantity over quality, I want them to do better as it would help the community overall if LMG can product accurate videos.

    - GN said why he didn't monetize the video, i'm sure Steve's business can survive by not monetizing that video.
The emphasis should be on why LTT/LMG monetized an apology video, joked about sponsorships, and ran an LTT store plug.
It doesn't feel like a genuine apology if they feel the need to profit from it.

    - If people still think GN has some sort of "vendetta" against LTT/LMG then they're really missing the point of the video. There wasn't anything personal about the video, it was all mistakes that can be easily found in videos and that is a massive issue for a company that wants to run testing in a lab.

    - I disagree, the backpack thing wasn't petty at all, people were right to demand a warranty on a $250 backpack and Linus took personal offense with the whole "trust me bro" tactic.
The issues GN had with the modmat were well resolved, people were offered a correction on it, and Steve took the modmat off of the store until all the modmats were updated.

    -  It is well known how GN publishes corrections on video errors, Steve usually makes a correction on the next HW news video, while LTT/LMG can take a video down, make edits and keep the same video up.  LTT has that much power with youtube to make video edits,  but would rather rush videos out every day instead of fixing errors. Also the things GN pointed out in the video are errors LTT/LMG have been doing for a while, IMO the video needed to happen calling them out on it especially someone at LMG said they do better benchmarks than GN or HW Unboxed.

    - Steve discussing things with other tech youtubers isn't the same as having a business relationship, you're taking that out of context, Steve said he doesn't have relationships with other businesses.
