I think you got your directions mixed up.
The Optical on your TV is an Output.

So in essence the Soundbar should handle all the audio and your TV speakers should do nothing. If for some reason you are using the TV speakers instead of the Soundbar then you'll need something different. But that is unlikely as the optical on your TV is NOT an input

On a side note: When you want the TV audio to your Soundbar with that device you will need to use the HDMI on the side as its the only one with ARC (an Audio return channel in the HDMI)

Just call yourself a system admin. Literally everyone that calls tech support says they are sys admins yet don't know basic networking. I deal with it daily.

There's a program you can use to esentally turn your pc into a NAS, it's called Amahi. It's an open-source piece of software based on Fedora. You can download it here

It's pretty easy to set up. I hope that this will do what you want.

although that link makes me think about buying the 290x I can't, I need to keep this build as silent as possible and dB(A) tests down the end dont look too good

i would order this and use the boxed heatsink it's perfectly adequate...no need for aftermarket CPU cooling this one can't be overclockedbut it's a strong CPU that will give you room to upgrade to a much stronger GPU once you realise the 750ti is a weak ass card...
this one can drive an R9 290X or GTX 970 GPU in games...best price/performance/features ATM IMHO) :

That's a strong quad-core cpu that is perfect for gamers.
...and now, the fun part...just to tease you up a bit...

It's been a while since I've had to use it, but the program WhoCrashed, is pretty good for analyzing crashes.
Here's the link its under crash analysis tools.

When I have a linux distro on my usb ( 64gig 2.0 kingston) it runs smoothly. I've never come into any sort of issues.
USB 3.0 will work in a 2.0 port since it's backwards compatible.

If by "bands", you mean rock bands

    The Doors
    The Who
    The Guess Who
    Rolling Stones
    Pink Floyd
    Rush
    Led Zeppelin

In other words, the same bands I have been listening to since I was old enough to listen to music.

Don't keep valuable data on it or duplicate the same data onto another drive in addition to the flash drive. You never know when it'll fail.

It really depends on what you want. I personalyl don't think it makes that much of a difference as long as the ports are there and the size is right. This is all down to personal preference, though.

I have one good monitor and two on either side that I got used off eBay and I am perfectly fine with that.

If you are not going for gaming the bezels aren't that big of a problem at all in my oppiniong. I have a triple monitor setup and I game with it as well. It can get very distracting having three completely different monitors - but you don't really notice when in productivity mode. I wouldn't say the extra cost is worth it if you're rarely ever gaming triple monitor.

I'm not completely convinced you need a faster GPU for watching movies. Granted, someone may chime in and disagree—I can't test it on my own hardware.

Edit: Ski Free was so rad.

If by "light gaming" you mean Solitaire and Facebook games, yes. The Intel integrated video in that Pentium isn't going to get you much further than that.

get a $100-$200 GPU if you want to game and preferably a hyper 212 evo or plus to overclock the CPU

But it will basically not play games you need at least a £50 to £100 graphics card on top

Agreed on the low-end GPU, though it depends heavily on the games. I wasn't being sarcastic about the Facebook games—maybe that's the "light gaming" the OP meant.

Any of the grey noctua line (can't remember there name) are very good when it comes to sound and cooling but they do come at a premium. Also as I'm sure you're aware your apu gaming performance is influenced heavily by the speed of the ram you're using. But I'm guessing that's not very important to you. I've got my HTPC setup with the media on one pair of raid 1 HDD and another pair acting as NAS. This gives me the security that if one drive fails the other will still have the data. Also depending on your media (bluray / DVD) and the amount of it, you may need more than 1 tb of storage. For every dvd expect to use up 1.5gb for bluray around 4gb or more. The only other thing I'd recommend is a custom cooler for the apu as they get HOT. I use an a10 5800k with a hyper 212 evo and my APU never goes over 50° C but I've heard horror stories of peoples APU's dyeing from overheating with the stock cooler.
