Yeah you could get an i3 hyperthreading or i5 7600 or something like that. You could also maybe overclock your ram but I dont know if that mobo allows overclocking. And the hdd might be too slow.

I had a google and found this:

    https://sensorstechforum.com/crab-files-virus-how-to-remove-gandcrab-v2-and-restore-data/

Maybe follow the steps on there.

Also, in future, as previous people have pointed out, be careful of the sources you use to get any media you might have. It is far easier to just be careful of anything you are downloading rather than go through the effort of virus removal after you've been infected.

I'm new to the forum, so not sure on the rules about posting links to external sources, so if that is not allowed, please can a moderator remove my post. I did look up the rules, but couldn't find the section for links. :-/

Actually it does. It just requires the smallest bit of effort on your part. It breaks up ALL of Intel's CPUs into their respective generations and tiers. You can also just use the search on the website and search for the architecture name and get a full list of CPUs from that generation.

Alternatively, if you just want generation names, then you can either go through Intel Ark, or you can search "Intel architecture names" and click on the first wikipedia link:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_CPU_microarchitectures

You should always specify: country, budget, what you aim to do with the build (gaming? study? work?) and in case of gaming, which resolution.

Yes it works. MAGAR. I would still say get the newer i5 but my 6500 is a-okay. Though now I would also say try ryzen.

Lovepreet reacted to NoRomanBatmansAllowed in i5 6500
It's very good for almost any game you can think of. Only a few games (e.g. Battlefield One) actually use >4 cores, but still the 6500 will run it perfectly fine.

Lovepreet reacted to Simon771 in suggestion OF i5 8400
Will be decent build, but will lack overclocking.
Either wait a bit for H370 and B370 motherboard or get 8600k now.

i5 8400 turbo is 4GHz and that's only on 1 core. So all cores will boost to like 3,7GHz at max probbably.
While i5 8600k can be pushed over 5GHz. That's huge improvement and well worth those extra 50$ or so.
Since you will be spending that much anyway, why not give a bit more and have awesome CPU, that will be also easy to resell once you will upgrade in the future.

I'd do this, but for an extra $50 you can get 16GB of faster RAM.

Personally I have the NH-D15, but any of those listed above will work too. Note that to truly get the most out of your CPU you will have to delid.
