PizzaJailer reacted to SolarNova in Help buying a used Plasma TV in 2020
There are 3 primary things to look for when looking at a used Plasma.

    Screenburn
    Max brightness
    Purple pixels (fuzz)

Plasma's loose brightness as they age, and well used Plasmas can develop the purple fuzz caused by cracked solder joints on the coils on the main boards, this is repairable but something ull want to avoid. Screenburn in Plasma's is caused by leaving static content on the screen for many hours, it is NOT cumulative like OLED.

Do remember Plasma TV's are heavier than LCD and OLED and they produce a lot more heat and use a good chunk of power.

However, if u can find a good used unit for cheap it is a good stand-in for OLED until u can afford one.
The Panasonic ZT and VT series are among the best.
The Panasonic TX-P42GT60B was the last best 42" Plasma made by Panasonic (2013)

1080p restrictions on Plasmas are not as bad as u may think, when using a PC u can render at 4k, this will make the image look far better than 1080p, though ull still be using the 1080p Panel. The natural 'softness' of Plasma also helps here, the biggest restriction is 60hz, some select Plasma's can be forced to work at 120hz at 1080p, usually limited to 3D capable versions that use the 120hz to display 60hz 3D 1080p images like the Panasonic VT50.

For those that never used a Plasma before and think its a bad idea. You should know that while 4k is now the standard, 1080p LCD TVs never got anywhere near the quality of Plasma,, thats how good Plasma is/was... or rather ..thats how bad LCD is.
New 4k LCDs have the advantage in resolution, HDR, and brightness, but Plasma still holds the advantage in many other areas, namely 60hz motion clarity, contrast, black levels, viewing angles, and uniformity.

It's sad that I don't even need more performance, I just want HDMI 2.1. It's the only feature lacking on my 2080 Ti that I genuinely despise. Hopefully next gen is 100% confirmed to have it.

@PizzaJailer Firstly, that's quite a name for a forum, lol.

Secondly, I'm actually surprised that the card won't fit, but you're correct. With a cage in, you have 280mm (11 inches) of clearance behind the slot. The card is 300mm/11.8 inches long. Your entire issue is due to plastic hanging over, it's not even the PCB that goes that far.

There's actually an interesting set of solutions to this. The easiest would be GPU holder: https://www.amazon.com/YATENG-Graphics-Anodized-Aerospace-Aluminum/dp/B07S7ZBB51/ it'll sit over the bottom cage and should work fine. Just put it at the back end of the card.

You could also try to put something to hold the GPU up on the cage itself, as its still going to be a tight fit, even in the vertical mount. I have mine mounted inverted, so I can't check the exact position. You'd have to get it built to work it out. But you might be able to ziptie it up, given how tight its going to be.

You could sell the massive 2080 and get a shorter card, so you don't need to vertically mount it. I also need to check that you're using all 5 upper cages and the space in the bottom cage as well?

As something of a side point, but I'd highly recommend putting 3 Noctua NF-A14 fans in the front. Or 3 NF-A12x25. You're going to need some massive static pressure to push air into the chassis.

Regarding that USB-C port.... Nobody is mentioning much, beside the fact that, is still not a thunderbolt 3 port. If isn't possible to charge with it, it's a dealbreaker for me

That outdated dragon logo turns me off instantly.. I like MSI motherboard because they're great and no logo is displayed, even I disable MSI booting logo, but for GPU, if MSI can get rid of that funny dragon logo, I would get them. I'm kind of idealist about looks too, so I can feel the difficulties that OP facing..

PizzaJailer got a reaction from myselfolli in Is there an RTX card that looks "clean and modern"?
Recently Zeus sent a thunderbolt directly into my power-supply strong enough to fry most of the components in my desktop so I'm rebuilding from scratch. I decided I wanted to do a black/RGB build and that it was time to turn RTX ON (Sorry team Red). However I'm having trouble finding a card that fits the style of my build.

Beauty is subjective. While some people love their "gamer angles", I prefer a cleaner, modern appearance. I would have loved to use a founders edition card in my build, but unfortunately they don't make those in "dark".

Is it really that hard guys?
So, being a long term EVGA loyalist I checked out their RTX lineup first... and oh Lord...
I'm not exactly sure what the design team was thinking when they decided to use the most gaudy looking transparent plastic on all of their RTX cards, but at least the thousands of E's on the fan blades will improve airflow, right? Thats gonna be a hard pass from me.

After reviewing the available RTX cards my runner up choice was the ASUS TURBO edition:

Relativity discrete looking, nice Subtle RGB lighting, very nice No back-plate... I can buy one Has poor thermal performance, loud and reviews indicating numerous issues, nice... wait a sec Anyway I'm stumped, I can't find a card that completes my sense of style and I don't want to buy from a brand like PNY or ZOTAC so I haven't looked at options from them.

But hey, maybe I'm still missing something. I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows of some clean looking cards.

GTX 1070s can still be found on clearance sometimes.
    RTX 2060s are in.
GTX 1660s can be overclocked to GTX 980 Ti performance, if you're into that.

If you can find them used, R9 Fury X, RX Vega 56s and other 980 Tis are good options. I've found some locally for C$250 (US$180)

Well, what you can do is buy one of those 3.5mm bluetooth adapters, get a bluetooth adapter for your pc, connect the switch with your pc and connect your G933 however you want to your pc.
You can tell the pc to take the audio from the bluetooth adapter and send it to your headset.
