  1. Perhaps thats the mistake that Intel are going to make though, maybe they should take a break temporarily and re-assess what they have and what they are going to do and what the competition has! then come back at the market with something in 6 months when they have a product and Skip the next iteration of CPU's while they ask the consumers what they are in need of for their chips, and then go from there.
  2. well if your looking for something that is silent (though I hear the build quality isn't all that great and sometimes it can turn up damaged!) there is always a custom loop build you can try! http://www.frozencpu.com/products/13793/ex-rad-269/Alphacool_Cape_Cora_HF_642_Konvekt_Black_Passive_Radiator.html I can't recommend it myself as I haven't seen it in action or how something like this might work or perform!!! EDIT: - Not recommended -
  3. if your compiling and running code (programs and web) your looking at a minimum of 8GB RAM on a laptop - though I would go with 16GB (to help deal with memory leaks you will undoubtedly encounter!) For gaming - well 16GB RAM is enough! For youtube / netflix - minimum of a 15.6 inch screen (prefereably High Def 1080p) For database and network management - I assume the databases are not on your laptop, and the network management tools are either cloud based or just a client GUI / webpage as most are these days if cloud based monitoring is active!) so all that should be doing is polling stats from a server - Don't worry about these tools at all when considering the purchase of your laptop. With that in mind you also want it portable enough and have a long battery life. with a good processor. so your narrowed down to an i5 Laptop running at minimum a 6th Gen CPU. weighing in at about 1.5 Kg Maximum. I found this using that process of deduction - A1 Graded Refurb - http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/grade-a1-asus-zenbook-ux510uw-core-i7-7500-16gb-1tb-256gb-ssd-geforce-gtx-77399205-1-ux510uw-fi095/version.asp at this company Grade A1 Listing means ex display model or returned within 2 weeks Brand new (and cheaper!) HDD, i5 ) - Amazon https://www.amazon.com/ZenBook-UX510UW-RB71-i7-6500U-NVIDIA-Windows/dp/B01IHHGSUS Better spec - (SSD, i7) Option - Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/UX501VW-US71-15-6-Inch-Touchscreen-i7-6700HQ-Thunderbolt/dp/B01CQRNBJG/

  5. EDIT: - (was gonna say the same as @samcool55 said - check the temps But The GPU shouldn't be running that hot and I would also check your airflow and cabling first thing. make sure the fans have a clear path through the case, How is the processor cooled as well if it is fan cooled - where is the heat blowing from the fan... Most manufacturers have air intake at the front and Hot air exhaust out the back, though it is personal preference and no real benefit I prefer the exhaust out the front of the case, (it keeps my feet warm!)
  6. first thing i would check - The pumps plugged into the CPU fan header try disabling cool and quiet on it!, or alternatively try another fan header first, before assuming it's dead... if it works on another fan header make sure you disable cool and quiet for it in the bios, and plug another fan into CPU to satisfy the BIOS.
  7. best place to look would be craiglist (in america / canada) or Ebay however - you will probably find that and in a quick search on amazon - you can buy that same or better Refurbished model of PC for £60 - £70 one example https://www.amazon.co.uk/Newly-Refurbished-OptiPlex-Computer-Processor/dp/B015JG51V2 But call up IT Recycling centers with outlet shops. . . is your best bet - might cost a £10
  8. Can I ask if SSF is what you meant - or did you mean SFF ?
  9. always worth a shot...
  10. there may be an option in there that will allow you to disable Boot from LAN (or network Boot)
  11. ok looks like your might need to go into the lest menu that you have there then - the "Boot Manager"
  12. so yes if you select the delete boot option in that menu there - you will be able to remove the IBA GE Slot (then you can use the Add new boot option to enable boot from (USB) flash drives
  13. NO ... Pxe Boot is a network protocol that the majority of businesses use to install windows over the network, it has nothing to do with EFI. You want to go into the boot configuration settings and make sure that you remove the "boot from LAN" option completely.
  14. I think this artist sums it up very well...
  15. you could try and setup an FTP server for your local network - (just block any external connections at the router) this would allow you much greater control - much less overhead, and all internal - Teamviewer has to achieve it's connections by routing through an external server... Alternatively - set up a network shared drive that your Plex server can access, that you can just use windows file browser to access...
  16. This is the sort of thing I find the office - IT staff ticket desk is humorous to wind up with... (when I am not on the desk) - Can I use this the next Time I have to log a ticket!
  17. windows Default drivers from windows update - and get all new drivers for the Motherboard etc from manufacturer websites.
  18. No need for the sarcasm... - I was just trying to point out a fault I had a short while ago and what resolved my issue - My RAM in my PC was only a year and a half old but one of the sticks was bad and kept causing the issues whenever I tried to play DOTA 2 or GTA V at the time. proved this when my friend wanted the old sticks for his PC... one was throwing up errors when we checked them and failed MEMTEST... Just trying To offer another point to check...
  19. lol - well check the ram first Kyper... just run a test or two with single sticks each time see if you get the issues on any stick individually... then you would know... if the problem continues across all two or four of them - then it probably isn't the RAM -
  20. then confirm the migration by changing the boot order in the bios. (or removing the HDD temporarily.)
  21. Here is an option for you! There is a program that is completely free that will do the perfect job for you, is relatively quick and painless, just make sure that your OS Size is the same or smaller than the SSD your migrating to... (In Other words - make sure your crap is moved off the HDD to at the very least a separate partition on the HDD, run Disk Clean up, clean the temp folders out and run a defrag on the HDD's Windows Partition. In the program it's a case of Click select - click confirm - Verify, Click apply, and PC will reboot and do all the work for you, similar to how EASEUS Used to do stuff. is completely free and does the perfect job every time I have found. - Download from here http://www.aomeitech.com/aomei-partition-assistant.html Make sure that you get the partition assistant standard (free) version you don't need to pay for it...
