If your not gaming, you can run a gtx 1050 or even lower end gpus.

Motherboards don't currently matter performance wise. Look for a motherboard that has the features you need, and one that you think looks good, and you will be good to go.

    I back this whole-heartedly.
The Asus Zxxxx-A boards have been awesome boards for the last few generations. They provide you with the same core features as all of Asus's more expensive offerings with just a few less bells and whistles that most people wouldn't use anyway. They also looks great (IMO) and I have found them to be rock solid. I do not have one in my own system but have built a few systems using these boards.

But as @bgibbz said, mobos don't really matter nowadays for performance. Get one that is a Z170, and has the features you need (wifi, Bluetooth, M.2 support, extra USB 3, extra SATA, whatever)

I personally have the z170-a and I love it. It overclocks nicely and looks slick in my black/white build. But really you have to look at the extra features/software in motherboards, because that's where price increases and where personal preference kicks in. Any of those boards will be fine, though. Plus you should get the one that goes with your build and you like the look of

They were not saying to add an i3 into his build. @Shiv78 recommended a different build for the i3 so it would be supported. This new build also sports both a SSD and a HDD.

Get i5 and make sure to install ARMA on SSD as that makes HUGE difference not just in loading times but especialy in KotH mode it drasticaly reduces stuttering.

I know enough to get by somewhat  My build is mainly for gaming/video creation, since I do film stuff, so I put together components that would help me with that, also in a black/white color scheme, which I think will look amazing when I'm done tbh, but that's just me  Talking to people on the forums seems to be a pretty consistent answer, so I think I will do that, thank you for your answer

The Trident Kraken and Otterbox Defender are very resilient, but if you want a thinner one that can withstand drops then maybe take a look at the Case Mate Tough Case or Griffin Survivor Journey,

I'd build it yourself if you can, since you save money and get a little more, like @BenoitWW is suggesting.

Hey everyone, I appreciate you coming to look at my thread. So I've always had a love for computers and technology, but just recently have I decided it's what I want to do for the rest of my life as a career and hobby. I've been trying to find out what truly makes me happy, and I keep coming back to computers and technology. Anyway, I've begun to try to learn as much as I could, and I'm learning a ton, but I feel that just watching YouTube videos won't do the trick at all and I want to go way deeper into having knowledge about everything. Sadly, I do not know the best way to do this and I would really love to get some feedback from you guys, as I am loving the Linus Media Group community so far. Is it just a matter of hanging around forums and helping when I can while soaking up knowledge from others? If so, is there an efficient way to do this? Or am I just putting way too much thought into all of this. I'm 18 years old, and I feel like 13 year olds know so much more than me already, so I really wish to dive completely in  I'm building my first fully custom computer in a few weeks for $2050, so I'm getting hands on experience with that. Thank you for all of you're responses and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone in the forums and hanging around here a lot more.

It's not necessary, it's just for a clean look. It's all personal preference. Honestly just go with the card you think looks better and has the features you like. They will all perform the same for the most part. Unless price wise you need to go with the cheapest, then do that. All great cards though
