They are brilliant at what they do. Linus, Slick, others, etc. This team (esp. Linus when I started seeing his videos when he was still at NCIX) taught me great deal about hardware. They really are irreplaceable and their recognition in the 'tech' world can never be underestimated. With their giveaways, attention to detail, love for their community has always made them excel. They really should be over 1000K/1M subscribers in 2014 hopefully and they really deserve the attention, support and acknowledgment. They are one my best 'tech' channels on YouTube. I wish them a healthy and productive 2014.

Hello and welcome to the second part of my build log, or rather the first upgrade in my build.

In this build log the main thing I will be doing is water cooling the system as well as changing out all the components. In contrast to my previous build log this should be finished within a few days and the updates will mainly consist of pictures as people seem to prefer that. I have also made a couple of changes of plan since my last build log. Instead of putting all my new components in my Switch 810 I will be using the CM 690 II Advanced I modified in my previous build log. This of course means I will be water cooling in the CM 690 II, not the Switch 810. Before I jump into the water cooling though I should go into the hardware used in this build.

To quickly explain my choice in parts. I think the biggest question you probably have is; "Why Z77?". Well I bought the CPU and motherboard before Z87. I could have sold the CPU and motherboard while they were still new at a small loss, however, after seeing the performance of Z87, I prefer the "overclocking" fun that you get with Z77 and they perform roughly the same. There is no need for an upgrade.

Onto my second "strange" choice; the Maximus V Formula. I could have gotten other boards that my system could have performed just as well with. My main reason for getting the Maximus V was the software features that Asus gives you. Without "Fan Xpert II" I would have to buy 3rd Party Solutions to control my fans which would have never been as elegant. as Asus' implementation.

Well my third strange choice is the AX760i PSU. There was, of course, no need to get such a high end PSU. I could have spent much less on an equally good PSU. Well the main reason I got the PSU was the fact the fan will stay off most of the time while using it. The software control is also a benefit, although I don't see myself using that much.

Of course if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Before finishing off this post I would like to thank Monsoon for sponsoring me with their Series Two Dual Bay Reservoir and fittings for the build. It wouldn't be possible without them. I will be doing reviews of all the monsoon parts so keep an eye out for those. I will link them here after the reviews are done.

    Small update

    Painting of the mesh sides

So  i wanted to paint the mesh strips in the sides but was unsure if i could even remove theese when i bought the case, to my surprise bitfenix made this as if they wanted you to paint them

inside the front and top panel are some small taps you can bend out and pull out the entire mesh strip, so this really made it easy (was afraid they were glued or sumthin.

First i removed the mesh around the sides and the bitfenix logo at the front

Made myself a sweet little paint booth out of quality materials :-)

    First coat of primer paint.

After it sits for about 1 hour i gave it the first layer of RED and yes it is red but for some reason my phone show kinda ORANGE...

but its still a rather light red so i might go pick up some really dark red instead.

I let the parts sit overnight and just did a assembly of the front and top to see how it looked and im quite happy with this allthou i might get a deeper red at some point and give it a single coat of it.

    Before Picture

    After Pictures.

Thats it for this update more comming soon still waiting for all my WC parts since EK had to backorder some off the stuff.

But next time ill work on raising the top of the case a bit to hide the fans better.

I thought I'd let everyone know that JC2 Multiplayer is coming to Steam soon and it's final Beta test is on 7th December 2013 08:00 UTC - 14th December 2013 08:00 UTC.

You can get a free steam key by following this link.

I recommend you read the full article on thier site here.

It's great that it's finally out of beta. I have been playing on the beta since the very early days and found it really fun, stopped playing because of glitchyness but hopefully all the bugs are fixed for the final test.

Best of all it's a free mod and if you're at all intrested you can pick up JC2 quite cheaply during the current steam sale.

SwimBiggs reacted to MetallicAcid in MetallicAcid's ROG V Gene TJ08-E
    Hey everyone!

I am starting a thread here on LTT for my upcoming water cooled upgrade for the ROG Gene V TJ08-E. I was wanting to have a watercooled build that did not look like all the others... It is especially hard with a small case such as the Silverstone TJ08-E as there is only a handful of WC products that work in my case... So I decided to use hard acrylic tubing with the help of B Negative's tube bending guide. I must just warn everybody that this thread is photo heavy, so there is a 56k modem warning here for those of you using dial-up internet, or with a limited mobile surf packet!

First I would like to explain where this build has come from, and what I plan to do with it in the future. Best to explain with pictures! Here is how my PC looked in January this year:

At this point, I had gained enough courage to try my hand at some modding. I was wanting to have something more unique, something with my stamp on it. So I started out with a couple of projects on making my computer stand out from the rest. What I had in mind at that point was just to sleeve the PSU, and try to make a floor which lit up white to show off the components in my case... The sleeving took a long time, and the light panel failed and looked like poo.

So I had to come up with something not just OK, but PERFECT! I wanted to do a mod that had not been done before, and have this mod cover the many bare spaces within the case. Suddenly, I found inspiration from the SupremeFX III sound chip design which can be found on my Asus Z77 Maximus V Gene motherboard. This is what the design looks like on the board:

So, here is my journey to replicating my design on my own PC with the help of a few hand tools, elbow grease, and time. Enjoy these pics:

Let’s just say that the kitchen wasn’t looking so happy after all this work… Neither was the wife!

After a doing the light panels, I had the inspiration and motivation to do something special about the back of the PC. Something special with the cabling, SSD placement, and maybe use some aluminium to "spruse" it up a bit. It was nothing advanced, but in my opinion, it tied in with the general feeling that I washoping to acheive with the upgrade! This is what I had come up with:

So, 5 months had gone by since I had started this rebuild. I had bought some more hardware, sold some hardware, filed and sanded like a "mofo", and in the end, I ended up with a computer that I was 100% happy with!!! This is what it looked like:

Once completed, in May 2013, fans who had followed the build nominated me for overclock.net's "Mod Of The Month", of which I was 1 of 4 contestants gunning for glory. After 8 days of voting, I had won the competition with 58% of a total of 310 votes.

But the story doesn't end there... Sadly, after having the computer up and running for a week, I noticed that the SLI setup ran too hot because of the aluminium mid-plate sitting directly above the top GPU, and my Corsair H80 CPU AIO (All In One) solution's pump died. This forced me to send it back as RMA to where I had bought it from. After 3 weeks of having a dead computer, I was told that the H80 would not be replaced, but that I would get a refund. More stress! BUT, After some thinking, and planning, and determination, I decided to take it to the NEXT LEVEL (again?) and WATER COOL!!! So, after some more hard work, I would like to present the final pictures for this watecooling upgrade:
