Guess I should update this huh? WELL, got tired of fooling with the small pump and bleeding the custom loop, so I added a Swiftech MCP-655 pump to the loop. Couldn't be happier with it, its quiet, has tons of flow, and the variable speed is sweet. Also, while I had the loop apart, I added the EK backplate to the GPU, threw a kill coil into the swiftech rad for anti-algae purposes, and added in the Swiftech MCRes Micro I bought a while back but never had the space to use. I'm currently using the H220 block as just a CPU block and letting the 655 do all the pumping duty. The pump part isnt plugged in and just spins passively. I see no difference in cpu temps from when it was a standalone pump from doing this, and the guys at Swiftech said it'd be just fine too. I do plan on adding a dedicated CPU block this summer, and replacing my single 120mm rad in the front to a dual 120mm rad thats a bit thicker. Just so the loop is ready for more hardware if I ever choose too. Anyway, on to the pics.

The cable management in the back turned out OK

And with some lights. The camera does it no justice, it looks a bright vivid white in person and is more even. The camera gives it a blueish hue and too much locational intensity.

I have also ordered the Windowed side panel from Corsair so I can show off the setup better, just waiting for it to ship now. Let me know what you all think!

What I did was add an EK Block for the 780, and added in a 45mm thick, single 120mm rad from alphacool to the H220. Though bleeding was a PITA without a standalone res, temps are ~65 on the 1.3v cpu and ~50 on the 1250mhz 780 at 50% fan and pump speed; pretty damn quiet. Overall, VERY happy.

It's understandable to be upset about something like this if you took the time to build a custom loop, because you spent the money and took the time to make a custom implementation into your build. Nobody likes knowing that anyone can just buy a AIO and consider their case watercooled. It's like putting a Corvette engine into a piece of crap car, yeah, your car goes fast, and it's way cheaper, but it's not a Corvette, and you won't be allowed to participate in a Corvette museum. Long story short, short cuts aren't appreciated by enthusiasts. That's what makes enthusiasts, enthusiasts. But, in this era, we are given short cuts that just plain work well, and shouldn't be given flack for it.

i can't agree with this guy more. If you don't have a credit card or paypal, you shouldn't be dropping money on a 780 ti. And where did you get the 780 ti. They would have watercooling stuff. Also if you buy a crappy case and a $700 GPU you're just not building it right.

Whats up all. My name is Taylor, I am an electrical engineering student. In my free time, I love keeping up with hardware, and building pc's, as well as doing my fair share of gaming.

My rig I built Q3 last year had developed into a damn nice setup, but after transporting it home and back over the holidays, I realized it was too large for my tastes to lug back and forth. SO, Rebuild time! lol. I decided to sell off my case, motherboard, and cpu, and replace them with an matx variant, while getting in some upgrades. First, the "old" setup:

    Asrock Extreme 4 Z77
    I5-3570K
    16GB Gskill Sniper 1866 Ram
    Asus GTX-780DCII
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
    Seagate 1TB HDD
    Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
    Seasonic 860w Platinum PSU
All in a Fractal Design ARC Midi R2

    For the pics:

And one without the LED's on

Now again, I was very happy with this setup. I had two Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans in the front (NOW FOR SALE! ) and the thing performed great and quiet. The only limiting issue again was the physical size. SOOOO, to matx we go. I decided on the Silverstone PS07 case for this build, and the case choice was by far the hardest decision. I'm very picky about features and fan configurations, and this fit the size constraints, and feature set that I was after. As for the motherboard, I went with the ASUS Maximus VI Gene. In my opinion, it holds the crown for the most capable matx z87 motherboard out there, and I've had nothing but positive experiences with ASUS boards. Lastly, for the new processor, I pulled the trigger and went with the I7-4770k. After gaming for a few months, especially on BF4, I couldn't resist the idea of those 4 extra threads. To the build!

    New parts:
    ASUS Maximus VI Gene
    I7-4770k
    (3) Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm fans
    Silverstone Red/Black Sleeved Cable Extensions
*CPU Cooler is still up in the air. Likely a Noctua D14 with GT fans when I get paid

    Old Parts:
    16GB Gskill Sniper 1866 Ram
    Asus GTX-780DCII
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
    Seagate 1TB HDD
    Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
    Seasonic 860w Platinum PSU

NOW, all in a Silverstone PS07.

Now, I will have more pics in the coming days. I was quite tired when I got this thing built, and wasn't willing to get the nice pictures.lol. And Don't worry, I will be addressing those hideous fan cables with some red paracord sleeving, and replacing that stock cooler shortly! To the pics

And the reason all of this was done...

Overall, so far, I am VERY impressed. Building in this case, while non-traditional, was a very good experience, and allowed for some great management. As for performance, Its only been together for a few days, but after a long gaming session, GPU temps are only about 1-2* C higher on the same overclock (GPU boosts to 1215) and thats with the horrible stock intel cooler. Once I get a better cooler in there, It should be a bit better. FPS in BF4 are up with the added threads of the i7, and noise levels are honestly quieter than with the bigger case. The ASUS motherboard is a monster, with tons of features in both hardware and software, and I'm being impressed more and more with it as time goes by. In conclusion, I'm very ,very happy with the switch.

    Next on the list:
    - Red Sleeved fan cables
    - Red LED accent lighting
    - CPU Cooler (Likely D14)
    - Perhaps some slight case mods (more additions than anything)

Thanks for checking out the build! Let me know what you guys think!

Afternoon fella's. Thought I'd stir the pot a bit on this, as I found it quite interesting. With the massive increase in bitcoin and litecoin prices, AMD radeon cards have been selling like hot cakes in the last week or two, making just about EVERY model of radeon card out of stock; don't believe me? go look. (Full Article: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2013/12/9/cryptocurrencies-are-causing-shortages-of-amd-radeon-gpus.aspx)

I decided to capitilize a bit on the market, and sold my R9 280x last night, mind you that I bought new for $280 in early October, for $400 on ebay. And it sold in 13 minutes. If ANY of you guys have these cards, and have thought about upgrading, etc, now is the time to list them and get beyond top dollar for them while demand is up. Anyway, I was WANTING to get an R9 290 if I sold my card, but with the shortage on AMD cards seemingly running through the NEXT order of cards as well, they may not even be available. Not to mention the ONE HUNDRED dollar prices increase in 290's (among other cards as well. Full article: http://www.techspot.com/news/54969-demand-for-amds-higher-end-radeon-r9-cards-has-caused-prices-to-skyrocket-but-why.html) from all of the sales and low supply. THAT being said, the gtx 780 is very compelling, now at the same price point of $500, seeing as we haven't seen non-reference designs in the 290/290x class yet.
None the less, I think this whole ordeal will play out rather interesting. If all of the radeon cards get bought by miners, do consumers have slim to no option but to go to nvidia over the holiday season? If amd keeps selling all of their product before it even gets here (Read that article i posted. TONS of backorders) will nvidia raise prices too since they are more or less temporarily a consumer monopoly?

    What's your guys' thoughts???

RAID mode allows you to add RAID arrays but you can still add drives without RAID as in AHCI mode.
My advice to anyone even dreaming of RAID is to set your SATA mode to RAID from day one so when you do get to that point it will work without too much fuss, as running in RAID mode with no RAID array's is just like AHCI.
