Psycho-Pass
With the Psycho-Pass reboot playing right now setting up for the 2nd season in October and the movie coming shortly after I feel like it's definitely a good candidate. The show it's self has a very nice near future kind of Utopia/distopia atmosphere to it along with the interesting perspective of a new police officer, which is certainly unique to a genre usually about the 'oppressed', and it has nice stylized visuals along with a great soundtrack.
 
Phantom of Inferno
This take a bit more of a niche genre with it showcasing the struggles of being forced into being a hit man for a notorious Organized Crime group. Phantom is great for the fact that it does go for a bit of a dark flavor and has an interesting story to go along with it.
 
Azumanga Daioh
I mean it's a classic, Daioh is pretty much regarded as one of the best slice of life anime out there, myself included. As far as story goes it's pretty much the usual were you follow around the characters with 'unique' personalities around, in this case 6 girls, and see what interesting situations each day brings them!

honestly, if Microsoft came out with a 13+ episode series about this girl I'd switch. Just imagine an underdog story where she faces off against the robotic chrome army and fights the mystical firefox i would eat that shit up.

Characters are awesome, kotohas power is probably the coolest thing ever. Great action and an good story.

Argevollen - Feels pretty generic but still enjoyable. Don't hate it but i dont think it'll be making any lasting impressions.
 
Rail wars - Uhhh... Not sure why i watched this.
 
Tokyo Ghoul - A good start, I'm pretty pumped for this one. excited to see where it goes.
 
SAO2 - About what I expected from the first episode. I hope it's good. Like... I REALLY hope it's good
 
Aldnoah - I'm a big butcher fan, so i've been looking forward to this one. Great first episode, I've got a lot of questions and im really excited for ep2
 
Akame ga Kill - For whatever reason this one slipped past my radar, wasn't on my plan to watch. Then my friend recommended i check it out. Holy crap. This one blew me away as far as first episodes go. Probably the show I'm looking forward to seeing eipsode 2 most.

If you want something that's all around awesome, and are willing to commit to a bit of a longer show, I would recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Funny, sad, great action, great characters, #1 rated anime on myanimelist.net

It's not all "basically family guy". In fact that's really the minority of it. Anime covers basically every genre. You'll find a lot of anime with deeper/more mature plots than the majority of the stuff on TV.

S4 League is my favorite shooter atm. Its fast paced and takes a lot of skill and learning to train a bead of fire onto someone while they are moving. much harder to do compared to games like battlefield 3 and CoD
