And this proves you're speaking out of bias and not actual knowledge. LMG for sure does not pirate Windows. They've already explained this multiple times. They purchase a license for every test bench, but they don't bother applying it, because it would deactivate constantly anyways. Make sure you know what you're talking about before making snap judgments.

This is a hilariously dumb take, because by the time you posted this comment Linus had already commented and said they'd bought a commercial licence and it was just an oversight that they didn't have one previously. Learn to read.

My response (copy pasted from reddit):

    Linus here.

First and foremost, I'm sorry for any upset we caused by using OCCT without paying for a professional license. I've gone ahead and picked up a pro license to cover our use. https://imgur.com/HlDn2Ic

The truth is I had no idea OCCT was a paid software. There is a donation prompt in the application, but otherwise no indication that I should have been using a paid version.
Ignorance doesn't excuse our sloppy approach to software licensing here, though. The simple fact is we pirated your software (which as some of you realize I never said we were perfect about, and in fact have pointed out times when my own ethics aren't bothered by it, but whatever) but hopefully our purchase of a paid license will allow us to put this behind us.

There are some other aspects of your post that I could probably type out a longer reply to - like the insinuation that (even if we wanted to) LTT could somehow destroy your OCCT business, or that we don't reply to outreach (I searched our public email and we only have two emails containing the characters OCCT, and neither of them are from you), and the fact that honestly I've got a little bit of whiplash right now from how abruptly this went from "thanks for the shout-out" to "I'm upset enough to write a novel on reddit about it".

Most devs recognize that our use of their software is closer to educational use than it is to commercial use and don't mind us using their software for free if we are demonstrating how to use it and showcasing it to potential customers on the channel. Based on this Twitter post, I assumed you felt the same way. I guess you don't.

But assumptions lead to disasters, and we absolutely should have reached out. Hopefully you can understand how the error occurred and we can put this behind us.

Hello there, i have the same laptop x550cc i3-3217u gt720m 2gb 4gbRAM 1tb hdd etc... so i used afterburner and (not pushing it to the limits becouse of the well known heat issues) i got up to 1hz on the core clock and around 1ghz on the mem clock. Gained about +20 fps on Test Drive Unlimited, and will be testing it on gta 5. If you still have the laptop and/or you want to know the effect on gta5 simply reply, i'll be happy to reply as well. Oh i forgot and its running between 70-80 celsius with a laptop cooler (under the laptop), on Performance Power mode. So for other questions you got it ;D

It is barely faster then intel hd 4000 graphics and behind intel hd 4400 mobile graphics, if you really want better gaming performance upgrade the gpu if possible, or get a better laptop.

Overclocking on a laptop(unless its one of those gaming behmuths) is a bad idea. The cooling and power delivery are simply not good enough to overclock stably

You could do dual boot, but with OS X installing it correctly is really tricky but its possible

I don't think it will, you just install MAC OS on the other hard drive and just enter the bios and set your boot device as the hard drive you want

your operating system will not mess with your bios; not to say it can't; it has been proven from security research; but they won't.

I really don't recommend overclocking a laptop, even though I do it myself, since it won't bring a noticeable difference (most of the time), but if you must, then try Evga PrecisionX. Move the core clock up by 5mhz at a time until you see signs of instability. Repeat with memory clock. Don't touch power limits. And there. You'll have an extra 5-ish fps depending on the game.

I'm worried about the crashes you're having with Msi. Maybe make sure you have the latest drivers for your gpu.

For having tried to overclock a laptop of that kind, I really don't recommend to do it.
