I've been watching too much LTT, I totally thought you were going "you know what isn't hard to keep track of, our sponsor, Pulseway. Keep track of your network.....".
I've noticed my name mentioned in a couple of updates lately due to my meteoric rise through the bottom most ranks. Little did I know, my PC was set to fold when idle and the computer decided it wasn't idle enough for some reason. Anyway, I set it to full throttle and I hope it can keep running nonstop until the event is over or I risk missing the 20 day mark. I have unleashed the full power of my 3090 along with a 5600x pitching in what it can.
I am new to the forums and this is my first folding event. I have been lurking a bit since the event started and something finally clicked: In some LTT video, possibly on WAN show, Linus mentioned the forums and people that fold. He made some sort of face or comment that basically said the people in the folding community are ... a different breed. I didn't know exactly what that meant because I've been folding and using bionic for years now as a lone wolf with no knowledge of groups or communities that participated in folding. Now that I have spent some time here, I have a more clear picture of what he meant. My last-gen single GPU setup is quite small potatoes in the world of folding. It feels like I accidentally walked in on a ... we'll go with some sort of measuring contest... and have found myself embarrassed by my lack of hardware. You all seem like the type I could find myself coming back to hang out with long term, but I am scared for my wallet if I dare roll that die.
I joined the team a while before the event started and looking at my points, I'm hoping to hit gold badge territory by the end of the event. I figured I'd wait to hit gold before requesting a badge just to make it easy on those that custom mint each badge by hand in broiling factories after mining the materials necessary from underground mines where losing a limb is so common that it no longer rouses the attention of the other miners hoping to survive long enough to collect their meager rations at the end of a 16 hour shift.
If anyone is curious about me, I do not work in tech. I don't even risk calling myself a tech enthusiast because I feel like I don't have the credentials or savvy required. I would describe myself more as a tech cheerleader in that I root for the home team, but I couldn't help you troubleshoot anything. I just like number go up.
And if @GOTSpectrum has managed to read this far, I can't help you on acquiring any advanced space-based razors. We will need to look into a terrestrial solution to tame that back hair of yours. It's not that what you seek doesn't exist, it's that I always end up tackled and shackled before I get close enough to press the big red button. I know a guy that might be able to help us out, but saying it will cost is an understatement.
Happy folding and best of luck to everyone. May your electrons continue to flow unimpeded by gremlins.
