IIIBIYULIII reacted to Synth3D in Help me choose my TV (please) / Is this a good buy?
The recorded input lag is 29ms in game mode and 46 in standard mode, it isn't the best television for gaming but it is very acceptable for a television in this range.

If you are looking for 10-bit HDR panel, you are not going to find it with the premium UHD certificate in that price range but for the price, the Phillips television is good value for money if you receive a panel with minimal issues.

Okay, first of all I'll have to get rid of my current PC ^^ Then I'll probably buy the TV first since I'm not entirely sure on how I'll actually continue building around it. I mean hey, maybe without a PC I'll get a different view on it entirely!
    But thanks for the opinions/suggestions!

well, seeing the list of games you just mentioned, i'd recommend something along the lines of i3 with something in the RX470 or GTX1050 range-ish.

the specs are more for keeping video playback nice and snappy than actually "hardcore high settings gaming".

All fair points...the thing why I was looking at getting a console is that I could play games if I wanted but at the same time be able to just use it for BluRays/Streaming and such.
The Skullcanyon NUC would also be a very interesting idea since I could hook it up to a wireless mouse/keyboard that I could store away in a drawer and still only have my TV on a sideboard and a (wallmounted) monitor on my desk to keep it clean and simple...

The thing is though, I kind of want to avoid having two PCs so I don't always have to sync important stuff in between them.

maybe a 'game-ready' htpc in a very small formfactor (fractal design node 202?) to put with your TV to have a "superior device" for watching series and the like. and combine that with a light 15" laptop for the daily work  and hauling around.

in my experience there's an "ideal" spot in the power of laptops, and that ideal spot is above netbooks (because they're just slow at everything) and FAR below the gaming notebooks of today (heavy, short battery life, lots of things that can break, pricy...)
and if you wanna do something power hungry you can always do it on the desktop.

Personally, I would go for something like a mini PC, even though you pay a little bit of a premium it is well worth it in your use case. Since you say that gaming doesn't really attract you anymore, consoles are out.

If you can afford it a laptop like the blade stealth would work out fine. If you get a TV and wall mount it an intel skull canyon nuc will work great attached to the back of the TV while paired with a wireless mouse and keyboard combo.

Just personal opinions, I did get to borrow a skull canyon nuc from a friend while I had to edit videos and things like that on the go, and it was great, plug and play into the hotel tv and I'm off editing videos. No laptop just a wireless keyboard with built-in trackpad, power brick, and the unit itself.

Maybe, later on, you choose to game...just grab an external GPU holder and plug in the thunderbolt.

i was able to overclock into the 1400 but didnt really see any performance gains until i overclocked the memory. i really think the 128 bit interface stops the card from gaining to much increase in performance.

My issue with Apple removing the headphone jack isn't because I want to get an iPhone.  Its that other device manufacturers will go and copy apple and start to remove the headphone jacks on Android phones as well.  I bet that because apple removed it, Samsung will also remove the audio jack on their phones as well, justifying it with "it makes it more waterproof", which will result in more asshats playing their music out loud on the train or bus through their phone speakers, justifying their behaviors with "Oh sorry I'm charging my phone so I can't plug in my headphone adapter so deal with it."  Heck, I bet in the near future, we are going to get a phone with no ports at all and charges wirelessly.  It will probably be an iPhone that does that.  Cause who needs to have a hole in their phone to charge it, we can do that wirelessly!  We also don't need it for data transfer since Bluetooth exists!  Our phone is as thin as a sheet of paper.  WE ARE SO INOVATIVE FOR EMPHASISING THINNESS OVER FUNCTIONALITY.  In essence, apple is about to screw over not only their customers, but also everyone else.

It's not too hard but you will need to drill out about two dozen rivets or so to break down the entire case. For reassmebly you can make it modular using some short 6-32 threaded screws and bolts or re-rivet everything back together.

1080 isn't super necessary, but I'd 100% recommend an i7 if you overclock or a 4-core hyperthreaded Xeon if you don't. Platform upgrade isn't super necessary (hey, repeated text), you can pick up a used i7/Xeon for 1155 on ebay pretty cheaply.
