Well, I've only had it about a month, but updating the BIOS is easy, installing LAN drivers is easy (can do it from in the BIOS even)... easy overclocking... well set out UEFI panel. Never had a problem with it in fact, one of the best motherboards I have owned, and there's been a lot that I've seen too.

Yeah my build doesn't have the Z170 that was a build that someone else suggested, after looking at some benchmarks I am probably gonna go with the gtx 1060

Also I found a better fully modular PSU for only 15 more bucks, the 550w GS EVGA

What you suggested is pretty much the best option (in my opinion) at this price point... (I am thinking of buying it myself )

Iron Knickers got a reaction from XplosiveNoctua99 in Why is the gtx 1060 "more powerful" than the RX 480?
Well there are many more differences between them, in fact when you look at the specs across different manufacturers, in this case AMD and Nvidia, you can't really compare them, and you can't really assume how a graphics card is going to perform based on any statistics really. What matters is benchmarks and reviews, and that is it.

Furthermore, as someone else pointed out, Physx and all of Gameworks have to blame on why the 1060 performs slightly better than the 480. Even further though, there is the hardware side to something and the software side to it, if most games favored AMD perfectly than AMD cards would perform monstrously better than Nvidia, if most games favored NVidia perfectly than NVidia cards would perform monstrously better than AMD's cards. Its all about software and hardware.

    Preface

This guide hopes to answer the question “what is PCIe” and more specifically to help serve as a guide to system planning. I have tried to make this as accurate and as easy to read as I can. If you spot any inaccuracies please let me know so that I can fix them.

    What is the PCIe Interface?

Peripheral Component Interface - express (PCIe) is a bus that allows expansion cards inside your computer to communicate with other components. You use the PCIe system by putting cards into slots on the motherboard. These cards can be things like graphics cards, RAID cards, network cards, even co-processors.

Nope, its an i5, and a good one too, the major bottleneck will be your GPU's of course because 4k res.

Thank you for hating Nvidia, I agree.

Eventually AMD will update their drivers to optimize for crossfire in new games. The GTX 1080 is having similar trouble because of software optimization.

If you cant wait, then I would consider picking up a couple of R9 390's or something and crossfire them, I think their software support should be up to date.

Iron Knickers reacted to wyattzx in Are there actually that many "editors"? All the workstations.
    I've always wondered this.

A lot of the time, you'll see people posting PCPartPicker lists, claiming "This is a gaming / video editing build. Opinions?" It happens so much, and yet you never see a single piece of content from any of these individuals, and as it stands the editor scene is kind of barren. If you exclude "FRAPS -> Vegas Movie Studio w/templates -> YouTube" anyways. Actual editors and content creators are far and few between, and often-times the builds people tout are for exactly this. Nobody will shame you for wanting 32GB of RAM so that you can boast to your friends. Just say it so that nobody suggests a Quadro / FirePro GPU or X99 build. The i7-6700k is the best chip right now for gaming, but we still see X99 builds because they specified video editing as one of the main reasons for the build.

I'm an actual video editor and content creator, and I've been editing / creating videos for almost ten years now. I've had an active channel for four years this coming November, and I use up every bit of my RAM and CPU with the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

To be honest, I haven't had much experience with the pc buildling community and this forum, and compared to other forums (maybe I dont dwell in many friendly forums), this community seems very open to critical debate and discussion, very impartial and respectful of each other.

Iron Knickers got a reaction from YamiYukiSenpai in RX480 a letdown?
I don't think this card is a letdown at all.

Once prices eventually fix themselves, we will see the 4GB rx 480 for $200. Eventually we will see this card playing at a more 980 level with mature drivers, as well as kicking butt in Dx 12 games. This card, as Linus said, is pretty much the new mid-level king.

Frankly everyone thinks its a letdown since it compares to the 970, but before benchmarks came out this was the original assumption anyway, and the newest drivers aren't even out.

Everyone keeps trying to compare this to the 1080 and 1070, but in reality polaris was always supposed to be the mid-level gpu, it is vega which is supposed to be the monster powerful card to beat the 1080 later this year.

The only thing that this card is a letdown on is the fact that it isn't as much of a technological leap as the 1080 was.

Iron Knickers got a reaction from YongKang in Stop buying 970's you fools
So many of you peeps are buying the Gtx 970 because since the release of the Rx 480, you can find the GTX 970 used on ebay for around $230 if you're lucky.

This is what I have to say:

Why spend $230 for a used card, when you can buy a SUPERIOR NEW CARD FOR ONLY $260 RIGHT NOW. (Only 30 bucks more)

The MSI AMD R9 390 is ONLY $260 with mail in rebate on newegg RIGHT NOW, and you also get a free copy of total war: warhammer. (Not to mention this card is new and not used, while cards you buy on ebay might be messed up in some way since they're used)

The R9 390 scores better than the GTX 970 in benchmarks, and, as a bonus, has 8 GB of vram. (Also this card scores miles ahead of the 970 in Dx12 games of course.)

All im saying is that for 30 bucks more you get a faster card than the 970, a new card, and 8 GB of vram, and the superiority in Dx12 games using async, and total war warhammer.
