PCGuy_5960 got a reaction from Chris_1500 in I want to buy a GTX 1060 but I don't know which one
Didn't notice that it was the AMP card... Get the Zotac one, it is the best out of the 3!

PCGuy_5960 got a reaction from knightslugger in [B&H Photo - US] AMD Ryzen 7 1800X $50 discount
All Ryzen CPUs OC to 3.9-4.1GHz. So there is no reason to spend more on the 1800X, because it won't OC better. BTW, Ryzen runs extremely cool, so you should be able to OC the 1700 or the 1700X to the same speeds as an 1800X with the stock cooler....

Well, I acknowledged that. But that's not a main concern when buying a graphics card. Also not the conversation.

They will probably perform like an i5 in games and like an i7 in content creation. That's pretty amazing for $200.....

You can't overclock an HQ CPU, you need an HK CPU for that...

The best gaming CPU on the market is currently the i7 7700K.

PCGuy_5960 got a reaction from Princess Luna in Best gaming CPU
Not really... The 7700K is around 10-15% better than the 7600K in games...

To be fair they already didn't make sense even before thus why I went originally 6700 and later due to very odd circumstances end up with the 7700 for cpu instead of going to the mainstream for youtuber builders with their overpriced 6600k builds at the time.
The old rule i5 enough for gaming made better sense before and with locked CPUs, with the unlocked ones it is a dead between and Intel is the one to blame by locking overclocking exclusively to the Z chipset without need end up killing that ancient golden rule of overclocking equals free performance gain, no you pay a premium for the motherboards and coolers you need to these days, making such investment pointless if not going i7 6700k/7700k.
Instead of fixing this problem where the cheaper and better performing option is the 6700/7700 they went and made "cheap OC" with the i3 7350k which is probably the most pointless bad cost to performance CPU in Intel's history considering all those extra costs you need to pay to get it to 5ghz.
Whoever still insists on 7600k builds saying "its enough" is doing other people a disservice, you're paying premium for less performance than a locked CPU with the cheapest motherboard and stock cooling could achieve.

The 7700k will squeeze all of the GTX 1060 juice out, so in a way the graphics card would indeed bottleneck it but it ain't something you should be worried about as you can just upgrade your GPU when Volta comes.

In some games, yes.... But if you want 144Hz, I would recommend a 1070 or a 1080....
IMO, get a 7700 (non K) and a 1070, you will get better framerates....

Hmmm guess I was wrong. I remembered looking at some and the two being very close but I just checked a few reviews and it seems they are a fair bit apart. NVM then.

PCGuy_5960 reacted to treeroy in How do I improve speed without ethernet?
As I said, I get 70+ mb/s via ethernet.
We have the Asus RT-N66U router which is supposed to be quite good right?
My wireless card is pretty crappy though I suppose. But my phone only gets 4mbps wifi from my room where my PC is. There are two brick walls between my PC and my router. I am not sure if getting stronger wireless kit will help.
I can't use ethernet as my PC is to far away and it would mean wiring it through the house which we are not gonna do lol

I wouldn't recommend IC Diamond for use on a CPU or GPU die.... Use Arctic MX-4, it is non conductive and non capacitive and it performs amazingly well!
Your CPU uses a BGA socket, you can't upgrade it...
