Had my Qnix for 6 months at 120hz with zero issues..Best $300 I have ever spent..

ericnrmrf reacted to RadSalacan in Just got my first 2560x1440 monitor
It's one of the cheap-o panels that they put together in Korea with the rejected apple screens. The X-Star one. 27 inch. I did a grey test to look for dead pixels and backlight bleed. None of either right now I have it set at 100 Hz. I'm MORE than pleased with this thing! I ordered it last Monday. 1 week from south Korea? That's pretty reasonable to me! and can't beat the price! Skyrim time! haha

Crossover 27Q working perfect. 15 months, pretty much on 24/7. Had to fix a loose cable inside (probably from shipping). All metal backing and easy to fix.
YMMV.

There's already like a dozen topics on the forums about Korean monitors....

I think its more or less the open Beta was only 1 map and was not really a stress test. It just gave people a teaser.

Looks absolutely amazing (except for the raindrops occasionally hitting stuff that's not there). The physics however it seems could still use a lot of work.

ericnrmrf reacted in g-sync question
Well thats just stupid. I thought about 50$ extra, not over hundred. I hope those are just numbers at the beggining, i hope they lower it.
Better spend it on gpu then.
Edit: i mean, they should charge even less, around 20-30$. Its nvidia thing, so they get huge sales if you once buy gsync monitor, then you allways buy nvidia gpu.
-
ericnrmrf reacted to SMURG in g-sync question
Well it doesn't only eliminate tearing, it also makes the experience generally more fluid. Even if v-sync on your GPU is able to keep you at a steady 60fps on a 60Hz monitor, there is still a latency introduced between when the frame is rendered and when it gets shown if the GPU is ever outputting at more than 60fps. Sure, the effect of G-sync in that situation is gonna be lessened because you're not synchronizing the frames any better, but you are eliminating output lagg because there's no need for the GPU to wait for the monitor to be ready before it shows the next frame.
Think about it this way; with v-sync only, if the monitor is refreshing every 5ms and the GPU renders a frame every 2ms, there is a 3ms delay between when the frame is ready and when it's shown. G-sync eliminates that latency because the GPU and monitor know when to display the next frame. I know the numbers here are out by miles but you get the idea.

WOW thanks I didn't know that FLOW was free
On ps3 the game isn't free
I wonder why they didn't say anything about Planetside2,Warframe,Battlefield play4free,Need for speed world, or DOTA 2.
Also another great free game is Octodad.

ericnrmrf reacted to Stijndopjes in 30FPS is better for storytelling then 60FPS
if i watch a movie in 60fps, than i think it looks kinda "to real" because i'm used to watching 30fps.
so it could be true.
but then again, in games i can't stand playing 30 fps

ericnrmrf got a reaction from Kuzma in Origin PC removes AMD GPU option from it's systems.
I sort of smell bullshit here... I've owned 4 Radeons the old 9550, 6870, 7970, 7950. Catalyst apears a little more end user friendly. Also Eyefinity works better than Surround in terms of issues I find watching tv shows while playing games on seperate monitors. Video would freeze on vlc in nvidia surround but not eyefinity.
I'ved owned 3 Nvidia cards. 8500GT 2 660ti's. SLI is much better than Crossfire. I really hadn't had much issues with Nvidia cards in terms of stability or driver issues either. CUDA and PHYSX don't really make a better gaming experience at all unless your playing some proprietary game that utilizes it. like Borderlands or Hawken

ericnrmrf reacted to Humbug in Some steam box news(get ready)
They were trying to fit powerful systems into fairly small form factors and not require too much power and cooling which may well have given Intel a significant advantage.
However this is just Valve's prototype, expect many of the final hardware vendors to create AMD based systems.

ericnrmrf reacted to allthatremains94 in US government shuts down after Congress fails to pass funding bill
As an Independent, I'm mad at both parties. At republicans for going too far this time, and at Obama and his cohorts not really trying to work with them and just saying "it's the republican's fault" every darn time throughout the years so he can cover his arse when something is about to happen or might make him look bad. It's really sad when all he does is cop out most of the time instead of saying "lets work this out." These are the two main things that piss me off about our supreme rulers right now.
I sure love having a bunch of gradeschool drama running amuck in our government.

ericnrmrf reacted to acturisme in Android Docks?! [galaxy s3]
Docks are more of an iPhone thing since they have a similar connector and form factor. Android OS devices do not. You need to look into a speaker system that has a cabled micro-usb connector for charging and connectivity. Some speakers have this option but get a set with bluetooth. You'll thank me later.
