I am also currently using a AOC G2460VQ6 which is a 1K TN display. So I probably wont have a huge problem moving to a 1440p TN.

Well if we can push for better and the price is relatively low then why not. Question is is it good.

    Hey,

I have a CM Nepton 280l with the Jet fans. JET FANS. On max they are very loud. They are loud also on 700 RPM during idle. I was thinking to switching to quieter fans. Noctua NF-A14 PWM seems like fans to go. Any good quiet cheap alternatives?

I am thinking of getting the sp140 corsair fans for my coolermaster nepton 280L as the default fans are said to be loud so I though to changing them to the high static pressure, lower noise fans from corsair. Good/bad move? I have looked at noctua fans but they always come in packs of 1 which means higher price for 2.

The motherboard I am planning on getting is the: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero, however on the back I/O it has a Bios Flashback button which someone said has accidentally pressed it and toasted their motherboard from booting to windows.

Get a laptop which has the processor name ending with HQ, for example: i5 6300HQ (http://ark.intel.com/products/88959/Intel-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz). As it seems your brother will be using Processor intensive programs, 4-6 cores in the processor will be better.

It doesn't list the screen so I have to assume it's a TN panel. That's a cheaper panel to build than a IPS and sacrifices color quality for speed. So yes, it will work. But it won't look as nice as something with a IPS panel.

Monitors are highly subjective. I like a IPS screen but some don't like them for the slower response time. Acer makes a great IPS screen and you can pick up a 25" for under 150us right now.

Fuck yeah it will. A 500w powersupply is enough. My entire system with a 390 pulls 360w max, I have a wattage meter.

And I want to live as long as possible, see the connection? I could die at any second and your graphics card could become obsolete at any release for any game. Welcome to the hobby.

If you're at all serious, get a 390. Both Sapphire and MSI make great examples of the card. It has the VRAM and power to stay relevant as long as possible. It's also the sweet spot for price to performance.

    get a R9 380X or R9 380
these are way better then anything Nvidia has to offer at an equal price point.

For your budget you should really be looking at AMD graphics cards. Unless you have a specific reason not to.

Depending on your budget and region a 380, 380x, or 390 is your best option. They offer much better bang for the buck in comparison to the Nvidia counterparts. That is region dependent though.

On average an IPS panel is slower, but mine is 4ms and has never been an issue.

Better. Anything under 5ms in response time is going to be fine. I personally have never had an issue. Though I can't speak for the quality of that particular panel as I've only used Acer.
