Seems like broadbandexpert.com isn't such an expert after all
Edit:
Btw they are right in a sense, we used to use copper cabling almost entirely but fiber optic is becoming much more common, so cable modems actually can transfer data over fiber cabling in situations where it is present

Not what you expect to see from a website that claims to be broadband experts

The way I'm seeing it is...the more frames you need to store, the more VRAM is going to be used.

Hehe then you don´t have to waste a single second with thinking about VRAM .

It´s always depending on the game but for 1080p 144Hz, and if you want max FPS, you´d have to buy something like a R9 390 anyhow and then the VRAM question is irrelevant because this card features 8GB GDDR5.

No refresh rate does not effect VRAM I have a 144hz monitor and use a 2GB card.

I'd be shocked it you ever made it past 4GB.
And no, refresh rate doesn't matter. Only resolution and game settings.

I'd like to correct this. I run in a mix of indie and not indie games and many of them do not support SLI. (granted, most don't need it but a few do.) I highly recommend a single GPU since you are currently buying similar costing parts. If you already had a 380, I'd recommend a second but do not waste your money on two GPUs if a similar power single is available. SLI and Crossfire are both great at running most of the big titles, but for the good smaller titles, this is not the case. This comes from experience with my own SLI setup for two GTX 660s.

Actually two R9 380s will deliver higher average frame rates.
It's just that people are still scared because of SLI and Crossfire, even tho they're running almost flawless for years now.

980. Always take a single more powerful card (if possible) instead of two weaker ones.

Not all games Crossfire/SLI correctly, some games wont even use the second card

980. Less power, less noise, and you can SLI later if you want. If you want the jist, both Linus AND Jayztwocents explains why SLI is fine, but if there is a a better, single-card solution, go for that

980 is more powerful in terms of that its only one gpu
