This forum is pretty disconnected from LMG, sure they own it but they don't actively control the mods or community much and never have. It's a very organically grown community which is why many of the more active or senior members are some of LTTs harshest critics.

I'm watching the video and they put a sponsor joke in it. It was just a bait and switch, where they did the sponsor segway but didn't do an actual sponsor, instead just going "jk jk we not doing that".

    Still though, what the fuck?

Locked until the moderation team can clean this thread up. It very quickly turned in to a shitshow.

Unlocked. This thread still needs more attention from the moderation team, but dealing with all the complaints about it being locked is taking up any time that I could commit to cleaning this thread.

Baffled at all of the comments saying that it’s convenient for her to be popping up now and sharing all of this.

This is exactly like the MeToo movement. People don’t post their stories out of fear of repercussions. But now that the iron is hot, it makes sense to come out now.

    @trollmode off
I don't care if steve is right
I don't care if LMG is a Fire tornado continaing rabbid cyborg sharks on methamphenime
I don't care if LMG or GamersNexus ceases to exist tomarrow

what I do care about is when people manipulate Facts and Play Dirty Pool

Steve took advanage of what was a shitty but resolvable situation and blew it up into a massive issue knowing full well that, @LinusTech can not keep his mouth shut when it really matters and he did so for personal gain.

then he turns around and proclaims his Intergity from ATOP his Glass High Horse
steve, when you do that I stop caring about any "valid" points you might have because clearly the truth is not what you are after.

and now Seemly we Have Bilitlabs who where initally completely radio slient now trying to throw gasoline on the embers
if it was such a problem they should have been the ones to come foward.

god knows if they are being completely honest because at this point I don't trust any of the 3 parties involed here

    heres some more assumptions
LTX was likely the catalyst for setting this whole thing off
it was likely part of the delay about getting the block and gpu back to them initally tho I don't understand why lmg just didn't buy them a new 3090 and send them on  there way

who ever is working in logistics they either need a full time logistics manager or they need to fire the one they have because hes clearly not doing his job

We know those stats aren’t very reliable but it doesn't even matter, all those downvotes count as viewer engagement just like upvotes do and all those comments could say Linus should go fuck himself with a Buick and all it does is drive more traffic to the video due to the algorithm.

I recently had something of a minor blow up with a family member because they weren't realizing the severity of an issue, when it could have gotten really bad if not dealt with. (Thankfully, it actually turned out to be very minor, but the lack of massive flashing Red Lights in their head was a huge issue.)  That's basically the biggest issue with the Billet Labs CPU Cooler prototype.

The video was bad as a review. I found it funny as "Linus and crew show why you should RTFM" video, though I think I closed it before the conclusion.  But everything from there just screams complete and total systematic failures.

How'd they lose the 3090 Ti that was sent with it?
How does it not end up in a box for shipping, with label but waiting on other stuff?
How does the LTX crew, looking for silent auction items, come across it in the first place?
LTX made a custom little sign for the item for the auction, how did no one ever check if this might need to be returned?
When someone finally responded to Billet on August 10th (was it Adam?), how was either Nick Light or Linus not informed?
How did no one in leadership know about this on the 11th?
What story was spun to Linus after the video dropped and he had to contact Billet? (Pretty sure Linus doesn't work Mondays, right?)
Why is Linus downplay the issue in his post when this is a blatantly obvious problem?

I made a comment in this thread a bit before Linus' post saying they needed to contact their lawyers. That Billet is willing to take a check is a solid thing, because LMG had civil and criminal liability with this event. As someone on Reddit pointed out, the cooler was likely sent through customs with no duty, making it non-sellable in Canada and a tax code violation to have done so. Another issue to add on top of that.

It goes to reinforce the issues that have been there with LMG for a while. They might have just coalesced into this whirlwind of terrible decision making, but basically everyone in the entire company has some liability for these problems.  Some of this stuff is just basic communication.

That would make it so much worse. If you don't get why, try to think about how we got here in the first place.  It's not a single mistake from a single employe, it is a systematic problem.

The worst part of the entire cycle, to me, is the email chunk GN posted in the second video. How you do send that email response to anyone?  That's a text message to a decade+ buddy about BS, not a work email about someone's very expensive product that you just found out was sold at an auction. What mental gyrations must have happened where a jokey email, after it clearly took some time to track down what happened to the cooler, happens rather than the new CEO sending an apology and a request to sort out the issue.

Nice, maybe you can feel part of what the billet people felt when you ran their faces through the dirt on the silver screen, doubled down on it and auctioned off their IP. 🙂

Their IP is now out there, somewhere, ready to potentially ruin their business. What if this block is 20C better? And EK gets it, or Corsair or Byski or anyone? Boom, billet no longer exists. Even just a few degrees better because of some innovation they came up with that can now be copied.

This is beyond irresponsible and egregious, paying for a new prototype isn't the absolute lowest level you could go. Hiding behind "it was for charity tho guys!! It's not so bad!" is despicable.

That "we" is carrying so SOOOOOO much weight here.

Must be a "we" meaning LMG management seeing as Billet didn't know or agree to any of this before this went up.

I am amazed at how you manage to be so technically correct yet still dig an even deeper hole with a single sentence.

Billet sent us a quote. I don't know or care how they arrived at the value. If they're good, I'm good.

As for what steps we're taking, you're talking about an outlier issue that has happened once in 10+ years of operation. There won't be a new SOP to ensure we don't accidentally auction stuff. We just need to tighten up some documentation.

I also doubt Linus cares for my comment on the issue but I can't help but call out this bullshit. The optics of this are just as brown as I paint them. This could literally destroy these people's livelihoods if it gets in the wrong hands.

All because a HUGE company would not break a shoot to get the right card or pay not even the supposed prise of the product in someone's time to test it right.

It's greedy, it's awful and I am surprised this isn't a criminal case or a lawsuit.

As someone currently doing my masters in engineering, this is upsetting to my very soul. The disrespect, the greed, the misconduct... If it was me sending someone I highly respected a prototype for review and I got this treatment, my soul would be crushed.

The responses I am seeing here are quite frankly pathetic.

it’s clear half of you don’t have ANY CRITICAL thinking skills and are just flaming @LinusTech just to earn internet E peen points with your fellow haters (who trust me bro…don’t care about you).

if you hate Linus that much WHY THE HELL ARE YOU even here?! Leave.

About the pitchforks… he is right…I am seeing a ton of comments flaming everything he says and twisting it etc. also it’s hilarious to me when people say “omg Linus trying to take out X company by destroying their prototype OMG?!”. ITS literally comical how shit of a take that is. As if a 50+ million $ company is trying to take out some small firm who is INCAPABLE of making more than one of something is comical. it very clearly was a breakdown of communication and it’s literally impossible for Linus to follow up with every single thing that happens on his team.

Did someone on his team drop the ball? Sure. It’s CALLED BEING FUCKING HUMAN! not one of you is perfect and has never messed up at their Job. So stop throwing stones from your glass houses. Holy fuck some of you make me nauseous with your holier than thou takes.

LTT I’m sure will work with them to fix the solution and that’s it.

Steve had ZERO need to spend prob 40+hours of work to make this video when a simple email or call to Linus would have sufficed. Going public with is shows Steve is that snake of a friend who acts nice to you then burns down your business.

‘’it very clearly was done as Steve is feeling threatened by LTT Labs being started and feels it’s encroaching on his realm of content so he puts out this Bs hit piece on LTT. It’s frankly pathetic of Steve and as someone who has spent over $400+ at GN Store I won’t be buying anything else from him.
