....................
So my PC has been making a noise for a long time... like for the longest time I thought a fan was hitting something, I thought maybe the cooler pump was just being dumb but after getting all new fans, a new GPU and trying a different cooler I was stumped. It happened off an on and for the past year I've just kind dealt with this "knocking" noise my PC has been making.
It's been the PSU THE ENTIRE TIME. I have no clue what it is but I can almost feel that something is being hit in the PSU. I have a spare I think EVGA 850W G+ but fucking hell this shit has been annoying for at least a year. -
When your parents won't pay for your ACT/SAT test ;-;
And I can't get it for free because they make to much money.-
Ya talking with my parents hasn't been a thing for a good year now, I don't even live with them and she still collects the $300 child support check. Who knows what it goes towards, not life insurance, clothes, bills, food, phones or anything. I mean my car insurance they thankfully still pay which is only about 20% of the child support check either way, which is about the only amount that even comes close to me. Don't think they plan on buying me anything for my Birthday or Christmas only as that was the "stipulation" to pay for the car insurance so I guess none of it really comes my way. They almost took the car from me... not because of anything really meaningful, just because my Step Dad had it that way and I'm pretty sure my Mother only really delayed that until I graduate. Oh well, can't work 40 hours a week and go to school full time.

I swear no cable works with a PS4 controller... the controller never recognizes it's plugged into any halfway decent cable, only cheap ass cables that I have to replace every 2 months
-
I experienced this with the PS3 a long time ago. I had a second cable about 1' longer and when I tried to use it as soon as I pressed a button it'd disconnect/not work. I can only assume the small block on the supplied cable is to blame.
Inside the block is a ferrite core. It's used for mitigating EMI. I assume this means the cable acts kind of like an antenna. Without the ferrite core it may pick up stray signals and cause data to become messed up. I could be wrong though I'm not an expert on these things.

We are learning about all these (blank)FET processes but the book spends like a short paragraph on FinFet ;-;

Applied to University of Calgary and hope to have a few more questions answered before applying to University of Alberta. Technically Calculus won't be on my transcript at the time of it being sent but at a later date and need to find out if this is an issue and if Pre-Calc is fine or if striving to test into Calculus to finish the course for Spring will be worth it.

So I think Imma buy the Make: Electronics bundle on Humble, as much as I'm iffy on making Electronic Engineering my career, I still find it a fun hobby. I just need to learn at my own pace and my eyes make it hard to work with such small things sadly. I can barely tell the difference between resistor color bands. Can barely see where shit is connected on the bread board etc.

Ah why not, my big issue is applying what we do in class to real world scenarios which is maybe why I want to go into Civil engineering.

you need better glasses
but I know how that goes, reading stuff on stuff
Bought some $12 3.50's today, glass broke off when i took label off.
I should have known better.
Bread board ah yess

Got a cheap repair kit for mobile phones, tired of red necking repairs.
-
This bad boy right here for a good $9 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014R8HY2M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I don't repair phones or work on small things like this to warrant a nice kit, just need to stop using flat heads and pliers for adhesive and I've got a heat gun.

Still salt that my "A+ Cert" class never actually gave us an A+. And I'm not paying $219 to take the exam either when we were told it would be free with taking the course. Instead we got "Testout PC Pro" ;-;
-
The CompTIA A+ certs have actually not been all that well regarded. There are better certs that look better on resumes. I've been told Lenovo or Dell.
I'm also currently taking a testout course called PC pro. So far myself and 3/4ths the class think it's absolute trash so I can't imagine the cert is worth anything at all.
