Microsoft to start blocking "unauthorized" peripherals
VanayadGaming replied to goodtofufriday's topic in Tech News
No it is not. Few people when they hear "Microsoft blocks unauthorized peripherals" think: "Ah, so you mean Xbox is not allowed to have unauthorized peripherals". They will think. "Wait, Microsoft doesn't allow me to put a random keyboard / monitor/whatever I got into my PC?!" -
Microsoft to start blocking "unauthorized" peripherals

lol... "microsoft" please say Xbox, otherwise people will think of Microsoft Windows. -
Elon Musk is removing blocking people from 𝕏
VanayadGaming replied to Drazil100's topic in Tech News
I seriously don't understand why everyone is so up and arms about this. Block will disappear, except DMs. Mute will do the same thing block does, but you can still follow people that muted you. Also, to those that keep saying that X is dying, the user metrics are higher than ever atm. -
The BBC has launched their own Mastodon Server
VanayadGaming replied to darwin006's topic in Tech News
My prediction, they will see it is not worth their money and continue do their main business on X. -
it was heading for bankruptcy. It was not doing great.
-
It causes huge server strain, and such Twitter had to do something about it to stem the tide until they find a final solution. Stop thinking everything is Elon saying left and right what should happen.
-
It has been confirmed that is not the issue. It's simply because of the bot scraping. Also this: https://twitter.com/misteryrobozo/status/1675217396670291971?s=20

and now he wants this to stop. Either pay the $ for the APIs, or don't scrape.
-
This is a limited throttling to escape the bots that scrape, and increase server capacity. It seems it was at the level of a DDOS attack, and that is the reason they had to do that. I'm on the 'free' plan, never reached the limit of messages.

Australia puts Twitter on notice for hate speech content
VanayadGaming replied to Spotty's topic in Tech News
I don't know what they are talking about. The stats show that the hateful speech content has been lower, and that CP/bot spam is at an all time low compared to what it was before. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Is it better than it was before? Also yes. -
There still is going to be moderation. He doesn't want a /b/ or something, it's just that some users get perma banned without a good reason, others don't (look at any of elon's posts and you'll see an army of bots). If someone starts spewing bullshit he would most likely be demoted in the search algorithm, but he mentioned he would like to show that somewhere on the tweet. Obviously also make the whole algorithm public.

New York Times ad warns against Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving”
VanayadGaming replied to blazingkin's topic in Tech News
There is a report stating that Tesla cars are 9x safer than regular cars (less accidents). Then this dude comes and says they are more dangerous and MILLIONS of people would die. It's a joke, besides all the conflicts of interests he has. -
Elon Musk's Neuralink says this monkey is playing Pong with its mind
VanayadGaming replied to arnavvr's topic in Tech News
Yeah, remember those total failures that Tesla or SpaceX are?... yeah... I see Elon getting a lot of flak for his innovative ideas. Some fail, some work out. Usually they work out, but not in the time span he plans. 18 years ago everyone was laughing about a new 'private space company'. Then everyone was laughing at him getting a rocket to orbit. Then everyone was laughing and saying it is impossible to do reuse on rockets. Now everyone is shitting their pants that they are way too behind and can't catch up. SpaceX now has ~80% of the market share of the launch market. They have boosters that have been reused more than 7 or 8 times. And they are building Starship. Everyone is laughing about it now as well. We'll see in a few years. https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/11/europes-challenger-to-the-falcon-9-rocket-runs-into-more-delays/ Vulcan/Ariane 6 are planned competitors for the Falcon, not in any way for Starship. Which will replace it completely -
Microsoft’s Power Automate Desktop is now free

I recommend using UiPath Studio instead. It is a much more powerful tool, and yes, it is free for personal use. -
galaxy s21 Samsung removes MST, Micro SD card from S21 line
VanayadGaming replied to Ethan.'s topic in Tech News
what is MST? Mountain Standard Time? ...seriously...so many abbreviations. -
I've seen this trend a lot lately that even if it is as good as the 3080, people will choose that one over the amd card. Even though the 3080 consumes ~70-100w more power. Last time this was the other way around, people were screaming that their electricity bills will be insane, that they will die of heat exposure and basically the apocalypse will come.

Intel’s Xe GPU team has just lost some important players
VanayadGaming replied to Slayerking92's topic in Tech News
Why? These are marketing people...they won't influence the gpus at all. (in terms of when they will be ready for market)
