  1. Controller choices are very subjective. Most people love the Xbox 360 controller especially if you manage to get the wireless adapter for PC's. I really like Xbox controllers because of the comfortable hold. At the moment I'm using the Xbox One controller with a micro USB cable and I find the new D-pad to be almost essential for platformers. Especially with a wireless adapter announced by MS for PC's I can highly recommend this controller but definitely try them out yourself if you can since you'll have a different opinion of comfort. Edit: Search for the Xbox One controller for Windows. It's the same price but with an added micro USB cable that's pretty good.
  2. You can, but generally if you look around people won't buy every possible product from Samsung's catalogue because it's a Samsung product. There will be some who purchase it for the brand but nowhere near as much as Apple fans do. A lot of people who own iMacs or Macbooks will have iPhones as well. While there are people who will purchase Apple products because they make good products there are still a significant amount of people who will buy those products simply because Apple made it. Kind of similar to Beats where people who buy products with the Beats branding do so because of that branding. Granted Apple make good products while Beats aren't in the same league but it gets the point across. I'm just saying there's a good bet that quite a few people who would be buying these watches do so because they will buy anything Apple and that happens more so with Apple than most other brands.
  3. Yeah you might be able to switch between devices but there are many people who will go to Apple products simply because of that image and culture. Not everyone, but there are quite a few people who do. To most of these people it's less about the value that their devices provide and more about being a part of that Apple ecosystem.
  4. The way I see it is that Apple is a culture and that's what people buy in to. There are people out there who will buy anything and everything Apple because of that.
  5. Do they have every right to do this? Yes they do as they're the content owners. Is it ethical and morally correct to do this? Hell no. That's the issue here. The most affordable way to watch GoT here in Australia is wait for the iTunes release. If you want to watch it live then you'll have to fork out $30 a month for now with their promotion and then $45 afterwards. That's almost $30 more than what HBO Now costs. Steam made it easy and affordable to purchase and play games whenever you want. Spotify and other great music streaming offerings did the same with the music industry. Netflix and other online services are trying to make it easier and more affordable to watch your favourite movies & shows but it's things like this that are pegging the industry back. All of the above services are improving their respective industries (granted the music industry is still quite a mess but it is still improving) but with decisions like this from HBO and other content creators it isn't going to encourage people to pay for their content but rather do the opposite. Like I said, HBO can do what they want since they own the content but whether it's the right thing to do in terms of being fair and reducing piracy is another story entirely.
  6. Here we go again... Companies complain about piracy but then they screw over the customers who are willing to pay. They make it so difficult to pay for their services with us having to use VPN's to access it and then they try to ban us altogether. Honestly, it's easier and now it's far more tempting to pirate TV shows. Good luck Foxtel and HBO.
  7. Grab a GBA emulator and play all your favourite GBA games! The Legend of Zelda games are annoying without a gamepad though.
  8. Satya Nadella has really pushed Microsoft to be more open recently. Really impressed by Microsoft over the last year or so.
  9. Nah, they said they're against paid DLC and that the DLC's they'd release will be free of charge. In that interview though they mostly referred to stuff with little content. Awesome company but they seriously need a better PR team and watch what they say in public. Also I really do hope this isn't stuff taken from the game to be developed and released afterwards. I don't think they'd do that but funny things happen in the video game industry.
  10. I agree. I feel the general consensus here is that people are happy IF they keep to their word of bring 30+ hours of added gameplay but not with the timing of it which I think is the biggest issue. I don't like DLC's because I feel that the dev is taking something out of the game to sell later on and the fact they announced it before the release adds fuel to that flame. On a side note I hope that the added areas add them in-game rather than as a side-loadable area.
  11. In this industry there is very little that actually delivers. I hope these guys do deliver on their promise of 30 odd hours of added gameplay at a good price. One of my favourite expansions ever has to be WC3: The Frozen Throne. That added at least 60-70 hours of added gameplay albeit for about $40 AUD.
  12. Yeah, the previous games were awesome. The Witcher has one of the best storylines of any game. My opinion is that they shouldn't have done this, especially before the release. If other people have faith in that they'll deliver then great!
  13. Hmmm. I stand corrected on their stance with expansions but they did say that DLC's should be free in this interview.
  14. I love what these guys do and put out. My issue with this is the fact they've gone back on what they've said about paid DLC. I want this game to do well because of who they are and what they do but contradicting themselves isn't helping.
  15. Two new expansions have been announced for The Witcher 3 titled Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. Really not a fan of paid DLC's and season passes (in this case "expansion passes") at all whether it's from CDPR or Ubisoft. Announcing 16 free DLC's before launch was a brave move but this is just retracting on what they've said about charging for extra content. Don't get me wrong, I love CDPR and how they go about things but this is something that will lose quite a few fans. I might just cancel my pre-order because of this. The game will probably still end up being great anyway but it's not a great move by them both in terms of screwing their fans over and pre-order sales. Update: Pricing is $24.99 USD for the expansion pass. It's available for pre-order on Steam here or DRM free at GoG here. Also available as a bundle with the game for $79.99 USD on Steam here. 16. Watching these videos from Australia and my god is Vessel slow. This video platform is infuriating especially if it's meant to be a paid service. A bit of nitpicking but I don't like the fact that you can't control the video using arrows unlike YT and the video quality available just isn't that great as compared to YT. But that's just me being picky and I can live with that fine. The big one is the fact that there servers are so damn slow for me. I can't watch 5 seconds of video without lag or having to wait for the buffer and even the lowest quality doesn't rid the lag completely. The worst part of it is that you can't wait for the entire video to buffer when you pause the video. It just waits for you to play the video and then BAM! Buffering kicks in again. I could watch YT videos at 4K without waiting for the damn video to load once. I completely understand why the move to Vessel happened and the smaller complaints I have are things I can live with even for a paid service only if the videos worked for me but as it stands, sorry guys it's just too frustrating to watch videos at the lowest quality with stuttering and having to wait for the buffer. Even if they let us buffer the whole video while it's paused, I would still go for it but it won't even do that.
  17. Solid Explorer is what I use and it has a great interface, good developer and a decent amount of features. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer&hl=en It's only a trial though so if you like it then you'd have to buy it.
  18. This is the reason why people pirate movies and TV shows so often in Australia. Geoblocking is basically the middle finger to those who are willing to pay for content and pushes them towards piracy where it's much easier to get the content you want than to pay for it and then use a VPN or proxy server for the shows you want. Props to Netflix for reminding the industry that people who pay for media are not the real problem in the industry. Really hope that someone pushes Foxtel off its high horse. Foxtel is one of the biggest reasons why geoblocking happens in the first place and because they're so bloody expensive I'd probably be going elsewhere for the shows I want ***cough***Game of Thrones***cough***.
  19. I wasn't a fan of Fable 2. The first one was the best of the series (haven't played Fable 3 but from what I've heard it isn't great) and it definitely is worth a play through.
  20. I loved the original Fable. Played the original on Xbox and then bought TLC for PC. I hated how the sequels were downgrades in so many ways. Even Fable Anniversary was a letdown. Based on how good of a sequel TW2 was for TW1 I am super excited for TW3. CDPR know how to make good games and the fact that they are doing everything themselves tells me this will be one no-holes-barred experience.
  21. This is pretty cool. Dare I say it but has Microsoft turned a new leaf? The new CEO seems to be doing a good job of getting their act together.
  22. Great decision Paradox! Another company that comes to mind who has this mentality is CD Projekt Red. Their thinking is why ruin the experience for paid users through DRM because of pirates? I am much more willing to part with my money for a game that tries to improve on the experience for the customer rather than trying to prevent piracy entirely. There will always be piraters. It's a fact that developers can't change. But DRM and other bs that they come up with discourages the people who want to buy it. The best that companies can do is to attract customers, not turn them away.
  23. Using piezoelectric material to generate electricity while driving has been looked into before. The problem is the payback period. They're too inefficient in the energy conversion process and are too expensive to produce. Until they start mass production and reduce costs dramatically, they just won't be feasible enough.
  24. 3840 x 2160. It is the same as having 4 1080p panels put together.
  25. Corsair's line of mechanical keyboards would work fine for that. Corsair bundle their keyboards along with their own software which you can use to remap keys. Das Keyboards don't need any software for them to function but this also means you don't have any interface to do any changes to the functions of the keys.
