VeryColdAir reacted to glaser209 in Lounge pants in long sizes but no pictures?
Was it an oversight to not include any models who were tall enough to opt for the “long” size in the lounge pants? I’m 6’0” but hate when my pants are too short so I was hoping to see what they look like on someone similar sized. Tallest model is 5’11” on the pictures but they are wearing the standard length.

I know there is a size guide but seeing it in pictures really helps. Are there any other products LMG sells that come in long vs standard? Maybe those have pictures I can compare the differences.

Edit: looks like the pajama pants are sold in long too… again no photos of the long but 6’0” and 6’1” models are shown. A user submitted a picture of the long in their review, apparently long is super long.

VeryColdAir reacted to Tumwum in Linus's personality - has money changed him?
Before you read this, I want to say NO, I don't believe he's changed.  I want to see if anyone else feels like I do about Linus and his personality vs how he's now perceived by viewers.
In this post, I'll go over how I feel Linus's personality originated and why he gets so much negative feedback.

OG Linus - The early years of LTT LTT Channel Linus and LTT started off, as everyone should be aware, as a tech review from the perspective of an educated consumer.  Not necessarily the most tech-heavy reviews, but enough details to inform a viewer whether a specific item was worth buying.  His videos had jank and were fun to view as he represented what a tech consumer may do to gain the best performance or best results possible.  It hit a niche that most users wanted, additionally LTT's videos were entertaining to watch which stood him apart from other review channels at the time. Linus's personality: Linus was fun, he didn't mind jank and was able to make fun of himself.  He played a character at the time that would take shots at his staff, he didn't have to wink at the camera that he was joking because LTT was a SMALL team of friends, and it was clear that it was a joke.  We were all in on this joke, and it made Linus's personality pop, as he was that goofy boss we all enjoyed to watch.
I believe as the channel went through growing pains from leaving the old home to the new office, people were excited to see this small group of fun personalities finally make it to the big time, their videos continued to be entertaining and educational.  LTT and Linus grew their fan base, and it allowed him to expand into new and existing areas.

As his company grew, we started to see the same jokes that were fun in the small home studio start to become misplaced or, at the time, new viewers would just assume Linus being mean or a bad boss.  I think the best example of this kind of his personality can be seen through the INTEL / AMD upgrade videos.  Linus clearly goes through all of his employee's home pointing out stolen items, calling his employee's thieves.  Clearly Linus is joking but at this point, it's not a small company any more, it's a successful 100+ company and these comments from the CEO of a company with real wealth, hits differently then someone in a 5-man company.

Additionally, Linus can be seen building computers roughly, treating his employee's new tech with little care, again, I chalk this up as a character hamming it up for a video.  But without context, it's a CEO of a large company building something for his employee with little respect to the employee's home / items.

This is just an example, but I think feeds into the root of his personality / perception.

Current Linus - The money bags years LTT Channel Linus and LTT are now huge, the channel is larger than ever, LTT is a +100 person company and their influence on the YouTube platform, review media and companies is beyond anything that Linus would have imaged.  His videos are now broken up into multiple channels, some still hit the fun spot as his original videos, but most are now standard reviews with surface level details (quick reviews).  LTT is in the process of creating labs a high-tech review wing of LTT, their goal to be THE place to go for any and all technical reviews for tech.  This goal seems to clash with the style of jank videos that LTT is known to produce.  Linus' personality: Although I do not know Linus personally, from a viewers' perspective I think his personalty has not changed.  Sure, he's perfected his on-camera character and continues to treat his employees with the same "bro" mentality he did when LTT was a 5-man crew.  He may have the best toys around, but he doesn't seem to let that side of his life influence what he enjoys.
IMHO, the problem is that current Linus isn't that young guy who had a small team of friends, he leads a huge company which he should take a step back and acknowledge.  Any fun joke, or inappropriate comment isn't being taken the same from a viewer's perspective and at time comes off as mean spirited or "better than tho" personality.  This isn't because Linus has changed, It's because LTT has changed.  Some of these people ARE Linus's real friends, and that can make things complicated for his on-screen personality.  But he needs to know how OG viewers and new viewers see him.

The only thing I will say about Linus and money is that a lot of his conversations or videos are about "LOOK HOW MUCH THIS COST" or him pointing out how much he pays someone. or how much he spent on XXX item for testing.  As someone who knows a lot of people like Linus, I know It's just off jokes, it CLEARLY does not represent how Linus feels, but from a viewers' perspective, sometimes these jokes don't land.  Compounding the issue, Linus's very wealthy home situation and new Porsche paints him in a certain light, whether he wants to or not.  Linus is no longer the common tech fan driving around in a pink Honda, he's a wealthy owner of a huge operation.  We can't relate with him anymore, so the jokes he makes comes from a place of power, not a from a common man.

I may be dead wrong, I may be the only one feeling like this.  But I think it may explain a bit of his personality / LTT's changes.

I think it's time for Linus to let go some of these jokes, he's a fun person who can come up with new ways to interact with his team.  My goal with this post is to see if this resonates with others? And if so, maybe it's something that Linus can work on for the betterment of himself and his on-screen perception.  As a fan, I hope this is taken as a constructive criticism, as it's intended to be.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in Linus' response to this situation. All he had to do was be honest, apologize, and talk about what they are going to do to prevent this stuff moving forward. The gaslighting is not a good look.

Overall mostly agree with Steve, I think he left out some context at some points.  A couple examples:
My main ugh was the WAN show clip on the block results - Linus sharing his thoughts unfiltered every week is a part of the reason we trust him.  Without context it just sounds like him telling BIllet labs to jump in the lake you can't touch me.  While the end result is indeed that's what Billet Labs probably heard, I doubt that's what Linus's intention was. Also the labs tour - I still haven't gotten clear what exactly happened but it's obvious the host of the tour (Tim) isn't used to speaking and IMHO did not even intend to speak for LTT - he sounded just genuinely excited to be a part of LTT and seemed to misspeak.  (Terren's first decree, the usual corporate statement of these views are my own and aren't necessarily the opinion of LTT). In general he should have asked LTT for comment, especially on the Billet Labs, no? Labs is obviously in Alpha and should just get better, Linus has repeatedly mentioned that he knows there are growing pains as they figure out a system. But overall these don't change the end result and general vibe:
The amount of corrections needed lately and miscommunications is definitely increasing and it seems fair for GN to say enough is enough. Asterisks everywhere is annoying, but IMHO there is ZERO excuse that something like techquickie should have ANY asterisks.  It's short and its literally branded as purely educational.  There are several posts on Reddit of Professors using it. Steve really hand picked solid examples, a big kudos.  Not (IMHO) medium hanging fruit like ASUS customer service or reaching backwards to LTT store warranty. This all feels like the same category of Linus still not bothering to add proper subtitles to videos - we're too fast paced to do it properly.  While I think most of us treat LTT as entertainment, Steve is very accurate that Linus, you just can't remotely act like that anymore.  LTT needs to make accuracy (and accessibility) their main priority, full stop.

(@LinusTech if you read this, we are still fans and mean this as constructive criticism.  We want LTT Labs to be a smashing success and the channel to only get better.  We're sure nothing here is malicious, and hopefully your new role as not-CEO will allow for more immediate quality control.)

Many of the points made by GN are very valid I love LTT and there videos and I know the release a bunch of very good content, but there team is Huge now and given the concept of the lab I think its time they spend a little more time on accuracy, and making sure content is correct before posting, I just hope everyone can remain mature and take on bored the points of GN, and see it as GN trying to help LTT rather than just throwing shade and causing drama

Messaged support a while ago, and they sent me a free replacement as well.
It's much better, but it's also beginning to sag, only time will tell how bad it gets.

In the meantime, I have an extra saggy backpack to experiment with.
I've printed some brackets that go inside the bag of holding compartment and stiffen up bag.
They're adhered into the bag with adhesive velcro for fabrics: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00N0W89Z8

Some comparison shots of with and without the brackets.
    Backpack is
purchased and used daily from the original backpack popup till last month empty except for a single filled 21oz bottle, either in the bottle pocket for a more centered weight distribution the front pocket for a worst case scenario
    Without the bracket
    Bottle in the front

    Bottle in the bottle pocket

    With the bracket
    Bottle in the front

    Bottle in the bottle pocket

As good as the pictures look, the adhesive on the velcro doesn't really inspire confidence in the longevity of this solution. Sewing the velcro to the backpack would be best for a permanent solution.
The geometry of the bracket is also not particularly optimal, there's definitely plenty of room to improve the crumpled front corners you can see in some of the photos, but for now it seems fine.
Note I have no idea if the 40oz bottle works with these brackets, they're wide enough to accommodate the 21oz (bottom of the bottle touches the bracket), but shouldn't be too hard to make the bracket thinner to handle the larger bottle.

CAD source for the bracket is at https://github.com/Gigahawk/objects/blob/master/ltt_backpack_skeleton.py

I don't really intend on moving all my stuff over back into this bag, so it's probably not going to see significant use, but maybe someone else can try this and see if it works for them.

So I ended up taking my original bag on a trip. It still fits under a plane seat even with the skeleton, and is still more or less holding its shape.
Bag was too big to use as a day pack, so the only use it saw was being stuffed under a plane seat there and back, and sitting at the hotel for a week in between.

My replacement backpack has started sagging considerably more, probably about as bad as the original one without the skeleton.

A quick comparison (new replacement bag on the left, original bag with skeleton pieces on the right)

Note this isn't as scientific of a comparison as in my last post, there's a random mishmash of stuff in both my daily work bag and my the half unpacked original bag.

Seems to me there is either a really high failure rate on this feature, or it wasn't designed to do this at all and they just lied in the shortcircuit video?

Hope they make a statement about this

My post on Reddit explains it further. When reading the comments, the community seems split. I'd like them to address this, because of how famously pro-consumer Linus is. Not providing legal protection and saying 'trust me bro, we got you', is not enough. Remember in Linus's word, LMG is not your friend.

Hell, Bitwarden is like 10€ a year. And it's great. I don't know what the hell LastPass is thinking, but this will be their funeral for the free version. Whole point of having password managers is cross platform use. If I can't use same passwords on desktop and phone, what's the point? And at that "premium" price, there are other better and more affordable options. Namely Bitwarden which is brillaint, dev working on it is pretty cool and community on Reddit very helpful. Couldn't ask for anything more.

The biggest problem I see with this is if someone's phone is stolen and they are unable to access their accounts/passwords from a desktop because of this (or vice versa). Very, very stupid.
I bet once this change goes through if you try logging in on the unselected device type it will just prompt you to sign up to premium. If someone is stuck in a situation where they need to get access to LastPass and don't have access to whichever device type they set it to they'll be stuck paying the $35 premium subscription fee or be locked out.

The update will also mean that free users can't contact Lastpass support, they'll be stuck using the FAQ on the website. Not that the email support would be much help anyway...
Lastpass: "Oh, you can't access from your device because you have the free version? Aww, that's too bad"

I can understand companies that offer free packages wanting to give incentive for people to use the premium versions, but they should do that by offering additional features that make it worthwhile subscribing to the premium version - not intentionally ruining the free service and locking people out of devices unless they pay.

noun: a person who compromises his or her personal values, integrity, talent, or the like, for money or personal advancement.

    Linus has:
    1) Lied about not making Vessel exclusive content. Now luckily for us Vessel died and the content was released to everyone, but that was not something Linus had planned.
    2) Been sponsored by multiple companies, and recommended several products which he has later apologized for (or stopped being sponsored by) because it turned out the product/company was bad and his audience got mad at him. This goes against his words that he would always stay honest and only recommend things he personally liked.
    3) He doesn't like the thumbnails himself, but he keeps using them because he thinks it makes him more money.

Three examples of Linus selling out. He is a massive sellout. Face facts.
